John Boyega “developing a few Nigerian stories” to Produce

Boyega revealed this in a sit down with CNBC Africa’s Onyi Sunday on “Power Lunch West Africa,” which he visited to promote his new movie “Pacific Rim.”

Boyega revealed he grew up watching Nollywood movies. He said:

I’m very interested in original Nigerian stories. I grew up on Nollywood. The first Nollywood film I ever watched was Blood Sisters with Genevieve Nnaji.

Boyega added that his intention is to tell these stories, our stories, in a professional way. He said:

It’s a chance for me to develop these stories, merge Hollywood with Nollywood, to bring the genuine and most important stories to light but captured in a very important and professional way.

We’re developing a few Nigerian stories and choosing which makes sense budget-wise. We’re probably looking at an indie budget of $20-$25 million dollars.

    Great move…
a good nollywood/hollywood movie would be one that explores/exposes the causes that push folks to embark on a dangerous journey from subsahara africa to europe via the dessert/sea and its effect on global foreign policies of the west on immigration.
Look for fresh talents and not folks like KOK,omotola or Rita Dominic.
Apart from shooting on locations in Calabar;Niger, or mali, the budget will be enough.

Produce the films in a more professional way – what does this mean? Please Ogbeni, naija has very professional personalities in Nollywood. They were there before you and I were born. Hollywood that is gradually fading. This is the time for u to collaborate with ur nollywoid colleagues. Abi am I the only one addicted to Yoruba films on youtube?
