Angélique Kidjo Takes “Bando” to the Streets in New Video With Pharrell Williams & Quavo

Angélique Kidjo links up with Pharrell Williams and Quavo for the official “Bando” music video.

Five-time Grammy winner Angélique Kidjo is bringing “Bando” to life with a new video featuring Pharrell Williams and Quavo.

The track first arrived on streaming platforms earlier this year as part of her album project, HOPE!!, bringing three major names from different corners of global music together on one record. Produced alongside Pharrell Williams, “Bando” centres on cross-cultural connection, community resilience and the joy found in coming together.

Now, the accompanying video takes those ideas to the streets, placing everyday community life and street style at the heart of the story. Young people take centre stage throughout the visuals, with kids kicking a football around residential blocks and dancers taking over cobblestone steps, giving the video a strong sense of movement and community.

Angélique gets her own fashion moments too. In one sequence, she wears custom dark denim covered in metallic hardware, safety pins and floral brooches, finished with black sunglasses, stacked gold chokers and a structured headwrap. She later switches things up in a burgundy leather suit and platform loafers, while Pharrell joins her on screen in bright yellow sunglasses and a white T-shirt as he delivers his verses.

The release arrives at a particularly significant point in Angélique Kidjo’s career. The Beninese music icon recently made history as the first African musician to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, a recognition of her four decades of music and her continued contribution to bringing African culture to audiences around the world.

From the streets featured in “Bando” to one of Hollywood’s most famous landmarks, it has been another major chapter for an artist whose career has consistently crossed borders, generations and musical worlds.
