By Jibola L

Timi Dakolo is famous for winning the debut edition of Idols West Africa in 2006. He was tipped to be the next big thing for his unique voice and fantastic vocal range. In the time in between, he won The Hip-Hop World Awards ‘headie’ for the Best Recording of the year 2010 with his single, Heaven Please featuring MI.

On There’s a Cry, we see Timi take on matters of the heart and humanity, as he tackles the nagging Niger Delta issue with this soul stirring ballad. He does this with the same grace that made us fall in love with his music in the first place.

Enjoy

Is it me or does Timi always spew out “not so good” videos, pixel wise…..Are they trying to push the viewer into focusing on the song/lyrics rather than its visual content? I love his song, but never impressed with hiz video, the only vid that was alright was I Love you ft Jesse Jagz…after that hiz consecutive videos just fall flat.

@moi – never mind the message let’s focus on the “not so good video” *shaking my head – sorry no vex oh the video no good reach your standard- anyway I think the message is so socially conscious a really relevant issue for today -and one that needs to be heard – not just the typical “club” songs that all sound alike and objectifies women -wind your waist, get down bla bla bla- Good job Timi you are amazing- I love it!

apparently u didn’t read my comment well, or should I say understand/ digest it…Didn’t u see the pixel-wise at the end of the comment. Meaning that the concept is good bt the carriage/oil/machine is not too good(the pixel that is). Did u see anywhere in my comment that I said that he should have girls gyrating to some stupid song in the club…Abegi no put words for my mouth. And my point is valid, his pple don’t have tapping vid ouput bcos they want to focus on his songs, but that shouldn’t be right, ask TYBello/Kemi Adetiba. The song was a social conscious song and d video dey alright…….Nawa for 9jas, man must to spell everything out in detail

One word “Amazing”.Talents like this we should encourage and not all the crap I listen to in blogs these days.

Nigerians should search deeper to ascertain where their talent lies instead of everyone gravitating towards fashion, music and film

I can’t wait for dude to blow up since the day I heard him sing at the silverbird galleria during the now-rested T-G-1ST- thursday show. Positive and inspiring lyrics, God bless you Timi….in due season u go shine lyk a star that you truly are.

at last nigeria has an artist with an international standard. i just hope Timi won’t compromise this quality for fame and money. this is music, as a matter of fact, a beautiful noise indeed.
