iROKOtv revolutionized viewing of Nigerian movies online via its YouTube channel, now the company is building its brand by signing on 11 Nollywood stars as brand ambassadors.
So far, iROKO has unveiled Mercy Johnson, Mr Ibu, Uche Ogbodo, Uche Jombo, Eniola Badmus, Patience Ozokwor, John Dumelo, Mary Remmy and Tonto Dikeh as brand ambassadors.

I am very shocked and surprised that Nollywood is supporting this Utter nonsense by IrokoTV (nollywoodlove) – advocating for audience to watch movies online for free. Is this what is going to financially improve the industry – putting movies online for everybody to watch for free?? I guess HOLLYwood should also create a website and put all movies on there for free too. Mtscheww. You cannot possibly tell me this thing this dude is doing with his website is putting more money in the pockets of nollywood and the industry as a whole. I want him to explain in detail – how this venture financially benefits Nollywood.
Hey mstilii!! Actually nollywood love purchases the movies before uploading them and they partner with youtube, so therefore its legal and there is still a financial gain in nollywood

Watching d movie for free? All in good time. Irokotv is paying producers for their works right? Put that against the sites over the net showing d movies free and the d producers are getting nothing.

To be honest I have watched some of the movies on youtube that nollywoodlove put on there and I enoyed the movie but wondered how is me watching free benefit the actors and producers. I have since then stopped watching cos most of the movies are boring and predictable besides watching on a computer is not the same comfort level, like sitting in your sofa and watching with your whole family.
But BN since u are promoting this, could you go back and ask irokotv to explain in detail how hollywood makes money while we watch for free. So from what I understand he buys the rights for however much (am guessing not that much) and he puts it on youtube or his website and all the hits, views and ads generates triple income for HIM? And he givves that money back or what?
I think MsTiti has a point. You BN just posted fotos of these celebs but u did not explain exactly what this website does for nollywood. I am suspectin they (the actors) did not pose for free and could care less. Oh well if they care less for people watching their movies for free then I guess nobody should either. Let’s all continue to promote free online movie watching. What is my own.

Nollywood is cheap and I am pleased the actresses are looking to other viable and more profit making ventures upon the fame garnered from it.
@marvel, u asked the question and answered it yourself. these days celebrities no longer rely on d income generated from acting, dats y u see all of them gettin into endorsements now. its done all over d world.
@mstilli, there is no way iroko tv will have rights to nollywood movies, without the approval of the relevant authorities. it may not necessarily benefit the individual actor/actress per se but the distributors will definitely make thioer money anyways. rememebr that the distributors pay the actors upfront and how they choose to sell the movies is no business of the actor. like didi said, she’s rather watch on her wide screen still, even though she has the option of watchin free online. its such a large market to cater to that they will still have millions buying the vcd’s while an equally large amount who do not have time to buy can watch online. sometimes visibility is just as important as naira and kobo.
MsTilii – make God bless you for this very valid point! What is the difference between this dude and the people pirating Nollywood films for $2 dollars on the streets? The industry is not regulated properly and there is lies the beginning of the issue. Anyway, if I am to judge these pictures, I will give Mercy Johnson first prize. I would give Mama G a thumbs down for trying to hard to be youngie…the whole peace sign and trying to cross her leg (which by the way looks uncomfortable) thing is just a huge no-no. I like that she is not trying to be mama-mama but please still keep it within reason. Eniola Badmus needs an intervention. I am by no means a skinny chick, I am a comfortable size 12 bordering on a size 10 due to diet and exercise and I have a love for my curvy, confident sisters but this here is a disaster waiting to happen. She is putting a lot of strain on her heart, knees and ankles with this amount of weight. Please, Eniola look into a good work out and diet plan to help bring your weight down to a manageable size.
