2012 Arise Magazine Fashion Week: Amede
Posted on Sunday, March 11th, 2012 at 8:30 PMBy BellaNaija.com
While many designers at the 2012 Arise Magazine Fashion Week elected to work with print and real dutch wax, Amede chose two of our historic Nigerian favorites – Adire and Tie-Dye.
Though simple in terms of silhouettes, there was a serene yet sophisticated refinement embodied in this collection.

just stunning!! wow
Congrats Amede! Beautiful pieces & all very decent too. Proud of u Sis!
did you guys know she is a lawyer and the daughter of renowned write and minister from oguta Flora Nwakauche. HEr designes are stuning i love what she does with our batik and tie and die fabrics
who be that?
Amede, simply stunning. Big ups girl!!
Ehen, now you’re talking. Its good to see someone put a modern spin on native fabrics rather than just come and re-hash look-alike styles from Milan and Paris like a lot of the previous designers who have showcased have done, and even those that are yet to showcase will predictably do. Thumbs up, Amede.
African

@ bebe. Very funny but VALID prayer. Amen
i love the African looks. well done
Refreshing to see a boubou on the runway, not all d half nude clothes that have been parading
lovely!!
Thank you! Thank you for using a different fabric from anyone else. It set you apart just by nature of that. She really thought about what style worked best with what fabric. And even better, she lined up her fabrics at the seams. In the current season of Project Runway All-stars, many designers struggle to match their fabrics at the hems or seams, so she gets major kudos. The best thing about this collection isn’t that she showed very good (not necessarily original) designs paired with great fabric choices, it’s that she recognized the audience she was showing it to and chose to use pasties for the model with the see-through caftan. I wish more designers chose to do that.
I’ll wear most, if not all of her looks. Great job.
whoooooaaaa..batik reinvented. I love them all. well done amede
am not a fan of prints, but nice collections
Awesome collection. AMEDE yet stuns, remarkable pieces that add verve to our African print. Did I say ádd’? Apologies. I meant to say that the collections unveil the beauty that lies in tradition.
THREE WORDS – REFRESHING , FABULOUS , FABULOUS
BN Adire is the Youruba bname for tie and dye oh. In essence, she chose one fabric.
Love IT!!!!
There’s certainly something about this collection……

Hmmm, not sure if everyone is wowed because she used African or cause the DESIGNS stand tall… For me, im wowed only because I see the potential in the direction she’s following and not by the actual designs… She should work on making batik interesting, modern and exportable.
Stunning!
Who wud av known dt adire could look dis modern, refreshing and fab…am wowed…d finishing n d thought behind d entire collectn is jst amazing…d designs r not so original bt hw they were done n finished is refreshing!
LOVELY!
refreshing.
Dee USA, i totally agree with you especially about the part were she used the pasties, i saw a model in another designers outfit with her nipple peaking out and i cringed! this is nigeria 4 christ sakes !we’re still a conservative soceity
the Arise Fashion Week is not just targeting Nigerians but the global fashion scene which unfortunately wont get our conservative nature. It was an African fashion week not just n8ja
Sophisticated, elegant, contemporary yet unmistakably African. Great collection from Amede!
