An explosion which occurred under the popular Festac Bridge off the Apapa Oshodi Expressway in Lagos today has claimed the life of a middle-aged man.

Although the Police has not released a statement on the source of the blast, some media reports have claimed it was a bomb.

PM News reports that the deceased, Oladele Pius, was killed when the bomb which was planted a few metres away from his office, exploded.

Witnesses told PM News the sand dealer was passing by when the bomb exploded. He died on the spot. But it could not be ascertained whether he was actually the target of those who planted the bomb or not.

The scene of the incident has been cordoned off by armed police officers and the Anti-Bomb Squad of the Nigeria Police has arrived at the scene.

We sincerely hope it wasn’t a bomb as the news has already started causing panic among Lagos residents.
