Award Winning Media Personality Ariyike Akinbobola‘s August edition of the “Best of Both Worlds” networking event took place at Troy Lounge, Victoria Island, Lagos. It was a night of fun.
This month’s edition was different from the previous editions because she invited celeb judges to talk to the participants and encourage them after their performances.
The Judges include media personality Shine of Cool FM and D.J Big N of Diamond Records.
Media personalities like Toke Makinwa, Latasha Ngwube, Bimbz Therapy, Ogechukwu Osili, Modupe Ahmed and Selecta Agbaje as well as fashion designer Sean Manuel, comedians, young professionals, entrepreneurs, and a lot of upcoming artists were at the event.
Ariyike reminded all of the essence of BOBW which is a platform for upcoming talent and it’s also an opportunity for her to help one charitable organisation/ agents of change every month. This month, she’s creating awareness for Posh 9ja Youth initiative which will give Nigerian youths the opportunity to learn a trade at no cost. The event started off with a dance performance by a dance group called Charachoros, they are University of Lagos students then comedy by SLK and Oliver.
Since part of the aim of BOBW is to create a platform for upcoming artists and fashion designers to showcase their talent, the artists that performed include Young Page, Multeen, Cryptic Kidz, ENT family, Rasheed CMC, Seun Sticks, Jay Glow, 8-One and Elawtics. CMC Artist, Tony Torch and Cameroonian female artist Museba were also there to support the event.
The fashion exhibition was by Omolegho Ehimaka of 5 Fingers couture and Taibat Bello of classietabbie’s creations where they showcased unique Ankara accessories, diaries, iPad covers, shoes and bags all made by the use of our African fabrics.
Channels TV was there to cover the event and Ariyike granted them an exclusive interview where she spoke extensively about the vision behind BOBW where she expressed that BOBW is not a celebrity event, it’s an event for upcoming talent. It is her own way of giving back to the society because most people don’t care about upcoming talent.
The event was hosted by Ariyike Akinbobola and MC Prince.
