Lakin Ogunbanwo Muse Photo Exhibition - BellaNaija - December2013062Calling all lovers of art. On Thursday 5th December 2013 at the Didi Museum, Lagos, Nigerian born photographer Lakin Ogunbawo unveiled his 35-piece photo exhibition titled Muse.

Inspired by 3 iconoclastic models and curated by Marc Prust, Muse is a studied walk through the mind of a restless artist – a juxtaposition of highly stylized imagery on raw moody crust. ‘Muse’ captures beauty and glamour through the unyielding eye of one.

This first of a 2-part exhibition was sponsored by the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) and Moet & Chandon. Tunde Fowler, Executive Chairman, LIRS, was on deck to launch the exhibition. Moet & Chandon supported the flow of top models, designers, artists, art lovers and other creative professionals with an endless supply of Moet & Chandon Nectar Imperial Brut and Rose Imperial.

It was an event for the creatives celebrating creativity. Check out the photos  below.

Ah ah! See freshness overload. Everyone here looks exfoliated and pampered. *sigh*. The fashion, the art, the wealth, is… everything! So panache! lol

And of course the art work is excellent. I actually love Lakin’s look even though I wouldn’t want to see my man in that.

The pictures themselves are a little uncomfortable – very edgy. Exploring the edges of sexuality, gender and vulnerability…..interesting

I agree with you, and I also think his work is a bit ahead of our society in that you do not see many photographers in these parts pushing the boundaries of sexuality or gender in their work. Most of them prefer to capture nature or elements of urban life instead.

All in all he’s got talent and I like his outfit.

I admire this young man! I love his freedom of expression and quality of his work jare. That dreadful accented person who tilts her head full of hair from the temples of India wasn’t invited or nah? Too burned out from event hopping or what?
Also those red carpet/fame whores with lousy fashion sense, two/multiple toned skin & cheap looking rented frocks weren’t in attendance.

    Great work, Lakin.

Haha! I know right. Such was not invited. In fact their little brains cant comprehend this. Too deep n classy for them.

Wow!!such venom. You complain when you see her at events and when you don’t see her you still complain and insult her.

Very refreshing to see laid back and talented people doing themselves, no façade, just pure cleanliness and class. Kudos to you Lakin.. I am in love with the art.

I must be uncouth. I never understand exhibitions or art. that may be because the limit for me are museums and free exhibitions, but when I go and stare at these things, I never see what everyone else is seeing. I have even attended some mini exhibitions (last one the dude made stuffs from metal) I oohed and ahhed about how pretty and creative they were, and I thought I was doing well, until someone started using the words existential etc. lol. these pictures are awesome and i feel like i am doing the photographer a disservice by not fully understanding what he was trying to do. I am still stuck on “ooh the models are pretty”.
