Music Meets Runway 2013 – Mai Atafo meets Praiz

Published

Praiz for Mai Atafo Collection at Music Meets Runway 2013 - BellaNaija - December2013034If there is something we love about Ohimai Atafo, it’s that when it comes to presenting his collections, he puts on a show. Presenting pieces from his Weddings by MAI and Mai Atafo Inspired co-labels, the designer gave us a beautiful love story and a slick but dangerous 007 themed showcase.

For the Weddings by MAI presentation, TV personality/model Uti Nwachukwu was a charming General awaiting his bride at the end of the runway; the bride was played by Osas Ighodaro while Praiz sang a beautiful cover of Rihanna’s Stay. The collections had beautiful wedding gowns with embellishments and lace detailing.

The Mai Atafo Inspired collection was all suave models and (hopefully) fake guns as the models walked down the runway in dapper suits.

Check it out.

YES! That is OBVIOUSLY what the designer had in mind. Nigerians need to get used to things being down outside the box

Nice clothes, but why the guns? Is he glamorizing guns? Considering all the violence around that was not a particularly smart move.

I don’t know much about men’s fashion but these look pretty damn good! Love the James Bond concept for the guys but for the female models it just makes them look weird. Besides that everything else looks so prefect and flawless.

Not too sure about the guns I get what he was trying across but they could have given us the illusion of being armed without actually showing the guns physically.

Okay so they were gong for some spy / military thing but I swear seeing that dictator-looking uniform on Uti just struck fear in my heart, even though I know it’s a fashion show. The mental damage military rule in Nigeria did…

    December 24, 2013 at 9:04 pm

Why on EARTH would Mai allow the models carry guns? With everything happening in the world today, he thinks glamorizing guns is the next best thing? #RetardedMuch

People can we just appreciate the collections and the unique way in which he presents it? The guns are just part of the presentation and nothing more. just as Bella introduced him, he likes to put up a show. So its part of the show!

his collections are so beautiful but the gun concept just ruined it all if this was an american runway immediately the gun comes out people will be out the door with all this senseless shootout going on. i figured he was going for the military James bond look but the execution zero you dont have to explain by including the gun the military outfit and the black and white says it all

    • Tolu

      March 1, 2014 at 7:55 am

Reason like you have a brain. The guns were not the concept. 007( James Bond) was the concept.

Ohhh, all of you should SHUT up about the guns already. One person talks about it and other clueless ones follow. It was a 007 concept meaning James Bond( before the clueless ones start wondering what 007 is) acting all holier than though. Why the guns, why the guns. Why watch action movies, don’t they have guns there, grenades, bombs etc. does it mean the actors are going to blow you up through your TV screens. We must all have opinions, nonsense. Must you have an opinion on everything, and if you must, keep it to yourself. Someone gets off their butts to work hard and couch potatoes look for what to mark as wrong. Please go and watch Disney Junior if the pictures are vexing you so strongly.

And plus before you guys comment, don’t you read BN’s introduction. Nah, y’all just see pictures and jump into your own unintelligent conclusions.
And before you start wondering, I’ll answer you, No I’m not related to him, I’m just tired of people using blogs and the internet to hide behind their misery by slagging others who are trying to make something of their lives. And then we have the guts to keep saying our leaders this, our leaders that. How are you any better? Deuces!!!!

Beautiful collection but the gun thing its not what we should show case for anything instead is should be the other way round considering what Nigeria is going thru at this period “Gun men / Boko Haram killed 22 etc we should say no to casual use of gun in the society before it becomes the order of the day!
