#GoFashion or #GoFootball?! What team are you on?
On Sunday the 11th’s Malta Guinness Game On episode, Jay Jay Okocha, Joke Silva, Saka, Toke Makinwa, Bovi, Mai Atafo and Charles Okafor joined contestants of the Game On TV reality show who were faced with the challenge of making 5 minute documentaries depicting their captain’s rise.
Both team captains – Lanre Da Silva-Ajayi and Daniel Amokachi, got the support of their industry friends to ensure that their separate teams emerged winners of the film making challenge.
Team Football’s Daniel Amokachi called on the support of two popular Nollywood actors, Saka and Charles Okafor to help his team out as the contestants embarked on creating a movie of Amokachi’s success story they titled “Kick of a Bull”. Amokachi had one more surprise left for his team members by bringing his former colleague and good friend, football legend, Jay Jay Okocha into the mix.
Team Fashion’s captain Lanre Da Silva-Ajayi called on the support of Nollywood icon, Joke Silva, media personality Toke Makinwa, fashion designer, Mai Atafo, and comedian, Bovi to help out team fashion shine in their movie titled “Butterfly Kisses”. Team Fashion shot their story in Lanre’s studio as Henrietta, Precious and Ukara, much to their delight, got to wear LDA designs in the movie. With two Nollywood A-listers, one of Nigeria’s best midfielders and a passionate captain – Team Fashion had a serious battle on their hands to maintain their winning streak.
Fans of Game On and movie goers gathered at the Film House cinemas in Surulere as they enjoyed and voted Team Football as the challenge winner.
“We had this win! Our determination and hard work won us this challenge and it only gets better” said Daniel Amokachi while congratulating his team on winning.
On last Sunday’s episode of Game On, both teams now with four members apiece, strove again to determine who would come out on top in this engaging series powered by Malta Guinness to fuel the rise of the Naija passions. The contestants were challenged to uplift their community and show that passion can also impact one’s environment.
For Team Fashion, the task was to refurbish a boutique, design and create ready-to-wear clothes as well as organize a runway show to show case the designs. Team Fashion got to work together with their captain, Lanre Da Silva Ajayi, putting out eclectic designs that became the framework for magnificent dresses. They were assisted by some tailors from the community as well as models to showcase their designs.
Team Football on the other hand, was divided into pairs and challenged to costume and coach two teams of amateur footballers into more disciplined side as well as upgrade a football facility within the community. Daniel Amokachi led Team Football to work on giving the Razak Balogun pitch in Surulere a makeover and organized two sides that played an enthralling match with the players energized by the goodness that only Malta Guinness brings. The match ended 1-1. Football fans, fashion lovers and other members of the Surulere community who turned out to watch both the runway show and the football match voted for the winner – but this time, it was a tie!
“The work both teams put in was so impressive and we are glad no one had to go home at this stage. Your enthusiasm is so infectious!” said Da Silva who was happy with the work her team put in.
