Wow!!!!! “You vote yours and I will vote mine”…..that is all….i love this. No need to insult each other for the routes we have taken. Let my conscience judge me and let your conscience judge you. SIMPLE. No need for bloodshed. That’s my new response to those who don’t agree with my choice. #GEJ all the way 🙂

As in… that’s the profoundness I saw in what he’s written. Too much violence happening at the grassroots, abeg, when everyone’s actually entitled to how they use their vote at the end of the day. See fights, insults, physical assault and even murder happening because one group chooses to exercise their vote in a way another doesn’t agree with. Why must lives be lost during elections in Nigeria? Or is that the dividend of the democracy we fought so hard for?

Vote with the best information about the candidates and your own understanding of what you want for Nigeria. You can find that information out from your own research or engaging in civil discussions/debates with people from the opposite camp but just vote for you and allow others to vote for themselves.

      Calm down.

Roads with what where? Puleeeez go look at federal roads. I’m not saying they are all great but don’t exaggerate. Fuel should even go higher, subsidy should be scrapped, so the real competition can begin

Power Bill 1250?? Where you living, in a cubicle? Or u were tapping light? 500 to 750 is already monthly charges, so u want to say in a month u consume only 550 to 750 naira worth of power. My sister take it easy okay. Don’t lie to people. Somethings you say are true but some no be even GEJ cause am

    • N

      January 9, 2015 at 1:13 am

For the cost of Crude oil per barrel, N97 is high, especially for an oil producing country.
GEJ doesn’t have to cause them, as the president, He signed up to be blamed for anything that goes wrong during his regime, at least at the federal level.

Why I’m not voting Bokohari: I have never seen any school built in his name.
      * I have never seen any borehole constructed by him.
      * There is no record of any scholarship
awarded by him or for him nor through him.

      * I have never seen him use his popularity to canvass for any charitable work nor any humanitarian
effort, not even at the height of the polio scourge where other
purposeful and prominent leaders lead the campaign for immunization.

      * No single text book has been donated to any school either by him, for him or through him.

      * Asides from doing nothing, he has not improved himself
      since his exit from office.

      * No book written, no memoirs, no lectures,
      nothing.

      * The only thing of note he can point to are his numerous interviews on the BBC Hausa station.

      * He never champion for a university in his state nor has he ever been involved in any kind of programme to better the lives of the Almajiris in Daura.
      * His entire existence has not lead to any meaningful development in Daura, yet they say he can change Nigeria.

Doesn’t charity begin at home again?

      * No wonder he was referred to as being ”perpetually unelectable”.
      * He is not a patron to any organization, group or association.
      * No professional body in Nigeria has ever invited him for their lecture, convention or gala night.
      * The only time any known form, body or human assemblage ever chose him to do
anything for them was when the Boko Haram terrorist sect nominated him as their spoke person in the proposed talks with the Fed. Govt.

To Missy J and the likes of Elle who are hailing and telling you that you know your politics #SORRY# at least Charles Novia knows his facts and why he’s voting GEJ, you obviously have some of your facts wrong and this shows you and your fans were born yesterday. A smart kid would do his/her research in order to refute or validate or at least ask older ones or parents who know instead of pushing your internet copy and paste info here. First of Buhari had nothing to do with any of the refineries, the port harcourt refinery was built by shell bp before the Nigerian civil war, the warri refinery was built during the Gowon Era by an Italian company and the Kaduna refinery during Murtala Muhammed by an asian company japanese i think. Secondly, if one of the reasons why you are voting Buhari is because people get flogged @ the bus stops to fall in line you might as well throw the milatary regime a comeback party #don’t forget you’ll get lashed for every cleavage you expose#. Please before you cast your vote find out the pros and cons of both candidates. I like Buhari for some of the things he stands for but i don’t believe he’s the best for the country. His unwavering passion to rule again goes to show he has a vengeance bag pack to off load, that’s not what we need. He did nothing to console the families of the youth corpers who died in the north while serving their country during their last election, he did nothing to support squashing the insurgency instead he keeps making inflammatory speeches which indirectly pat the Boko haramists on their back , he’s a muslim fanatic to the core and backs Sharia law with his last drop of sweat and he’s over 70 what do you think he has to offer.

  10. Anti-Buhari does not equal pro-Jonathan

    January 8, 2015 at 4:40 pm

I know who I will never vote for – Buhari. That clearly leaves me with one option. He’s not the best, but he’s the better.
What Buhari achieved through atrocities committed, can he do same in a democratic dispensation?

Went through the Benin-Ore road this past holiday, how come no one publicized that good work of President Jonathan?
It’s been a death trap for decades and was only fixed in this regime.

Why I’m voting General Muhammadu Buhari
Please, this is pure historyBefore Buhari took over power,Shagari’s administration was known for extreme corruption, waste of resources, mismanagement and lack of sanitation.Corruption was celebrated as it is celebrated today, there was political and religious violence.Buhari came to power on the 31st of december 1983 and in less than 2 years he did the following
    1) Him and his chief of general staff,Tunde Idiagbon arrested so many corrupt politicians and put them in prison, anybody that had questionable wealth became afraid to show it off, because there was zero tolerance for Corruption
    2) Buhari launched WAR AGAINST INDISCIPLINE( WAI) which means zero tolerance for indiscipline in Nigeria. It was a crime for people to rush into buses. If anybody tried to rush, the soldiers were there to beat them.People started lining up and Nigerians became orderly.Nobody could the lines even in banks,it became an issue of “first come, first serve” Everybody obeyed the traffic laws, nobody was allowed to drive,on the wrong side of the road, sellers could not raise the price of commodities in order to make quit gain
    2) Showing up for work was no longer accepted, everyone got to work ontime.Neglecting your children became a crime
    3) Buhari and Idiagbon introduced the famous environmental sanitation.so it became a crime to litter in public places
    4) Buhari paid all our debts, and inflation rate came down from 23% to 5%.The Nigerian was so strong about #1 to $2.
    5) Drug trafficking decreased, because he executed drug dealers
    6) From 1976 to 1978,before becoming the head of state,he was petroleum minister under president Obasanjo and he was the head of NNPC.At that time,he built 3 oil refineries,in port harcourt, warri and Kaduna.Nigeria was refining her own oil and exporting. Not selling and importing the refined oil
    7) He masterminded construction of 20 oil depots throughout Nigeria, laying over 3200km of pipelines
    8) Under Abacha,he was appointed the chairman of petroleum trust fund( PTF) controling billions of dollars. The PTF was manged transparently,PTF published its annual; reports on time and always had press conferences to address issues
    9) In 4 years,PTF constructed the number of road PDP constructed in 15 years
    10) PTF supplied schools with textbooks and learning materials and supplied drugs for hospitals
    11) Buhari rehabilitated Mass transit system making it easy for transportation
    12) Buhari discovered the late Prof Dora Akunyili
    13) Buhari was the first head of state to put women in his cabinet
    14) Buhari is the only ex Nigerian president without a foreign bank account and foreign assets
    15) He has 2 houses,he has no oil rigs and leaves on his pension
    16) He could not afford the 27 million Presidential nomination fund,he had to take a loan
    17) Buhari has never been convicted of any crime,he stood up to America, when they pressured him to devalue naira. To this he refused
    18) He refused to borrow money from the IMF,when he was forced to do so,by the Americans
    19) America sponsored Babangida to overthrow Buhari and devalue naira. My fingers hurt. There are still a million things Buhari did

YOU MY FRIEND ARE A BIG LIAR!!!! PLEASE GO AND READ WOLE SOYINKA’S ‘THE CRIMES AGAINST BUHARI”. WHY DID BUHARI NOT SHOW UP AT THE OPUTA PANEL? ABACHA’S REGIME WAS ONE OF THE MOST CORRUPT IN AFRICA’S HISTORY.WE ARE STILL RECOVERING THE LOOT. HAVE WE FORGOTTEN THE MURDER OF KEN SARO WIWA AND THE OGONI CHEIFS DURONG ABACHA/BUHARI’S REGIME..

NIGERIANS HAVE SUCH SHORT MEMORIES. BUHARI INITIATED MILITARY AND POLICE BRUTALITY.NO ONE WAS SPARED- ADULTS ,CHILDREN ,OLD MEN AND WOMEN, PREGNANT WOMEN. FELA’S BEAST OF NO COUNTRY TALKS ABOUT THIS.HE RENDERED THE NIGERIAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION USELESS.

HE JAILED JOURNALISTS WHO DARED CRITICISE HIM. BUHARI WAS AN ECONOMICALLY INEPT TYRANT. HE WAS UNINSPIRING AND UNCREATIVE THEN.AND HE STILL IS NOW. JONATHAN IS NO SAINT BUT HE’S PERFORMED WAY BETTER THAN HIS PREDCESSORS.

NIGERIANS WANT A QUICK FIX. WE FORGET THAT THE DECAY IN OUR SYSTEM HAS BEEN IN EXISTENCE FOR A LONG TIME. IT WILL TAKE SOMETIME FOR THE BENEFITS TO REALLY SHOW. BUHARI HAS NO PLANS FOR CONCRETE CHANGE. HE JUST WANTS POWER TO RETURN TO THE NORTH. IF THEY WERE NOT THE CASE HE WOULD HAVE STEPPED DOWN FOR A MORE DYNAMIC CANDIDATE.

    • Missy J

      January 9, 2015 at 1:12 am

Why pitch in together Buhari’s regime with Abacha’s when Abacha was also a prominent figure in the very single successful coup in Nigerian history which removed General Muhammadu Buhari from power in 1983? Yep Buhari was brutal, that was because he had zero tolerance to corruption and keen on bringing discipline and you know how stubborn Nigerians are they always learn the hard way and mind you he did that under Military regime I think in civilian regime he’s going to take a more diplomatic approach to things. – Buhari was uncreative and uninspiring like seriously? who is lying here? did you take time to read Buhari’s achievements in under 1year 7months and compare it to President GEJ’s?
      1) Our refineries were built by Buhari, GEJ promised to build refineries, my question is where are the refineries? None! OBJ sold them to Dangote and Otedola, these are the people making millions from importing petroleum and they are good friends with GEJ and mind you, NO GOVERMENT has improved on the refineries Buhari built
      2) America has 143 refineries, SA has 6 and it isn’t an oil producing nation ooh while Nigeria has no functioning refinery now. Obama has 3 private jets in his presidential fleet while GEJ has 11 aircrafts(higher than any president in the world). Nigeria is the only oil producing country with epileptic power supply. It is obvious that Mr President has his priorities in the wrong places .
      3) A 1998 report in New Africa praised the PTF under Buhari for its transparency, calling it a rare “success story”
4). Buhari is anti corruption, he even hired an Israeli to kidnap Umaru Diko( a very corrupt person) from the United Kingdom after he escaped but Goodluck’s government is known for corruption and not a single conviction haba! Stella Oduah was not prosecuted, she is infact a chief in her hometown, Farouk Lawal and Femi Otedola we not prosecuted over $620,000 scandal despite video and audio, he pardoned Alameiseigha, $49billion went missing in 4 years, Is Sanusi innocent or guilty? what was the outcome? (swept under the carpet)
5)Under GEJ Boko Haram has killed more than 13,000 Nigerians and displaced 3 million, we have borrowed $10billion in 4 years, he is the first Nigerian president to budget #1billion for food in Aso rock. Allison Maduekwe was not prosecuted.
6)In the history of the world, no where has it been heard nor seen where thousands of youths gathered in a stadium in different parts of the country for a job that was not there. Till date no one has been called to order. It is one of the many achievements of GEJ
7)GEJ took $1billion loan for weapon mmm but nothing to show for it, The question he has failed to answer is: Who is in charge of the armed forces? are BH more stronger than our armed forces? It was Sani Abacha that said when insurgency last for more than 24hours, the government has a hand in it.
      8) During Buhari’s tenure the US pressured to devalue naira and take loan from IMF, he was and the US sanctioned Nigeria, as a result we started trade by barter with countries like Brazil, Germany. Google that!
      9) Imagine he gave an order for the speaker to be locked out. This is an impeachable offense, he had to jump the fence(haha). Imagine in Democracy ooh
“HE JUST WANTS POWER TO RETURN TO THE NORTH” I think when he contested against Late President Umuru Ya’adua in 2007 he wanted power to return to the middle east.
      Chai..my fingers ooh!!

@BubblyBliss, that’s very true. A lot of people who were adults in that era (i.e. our parents ‘generation) say the very same thing about Idiagbon being the main man behind the scenes. So much so that the coup could only happen at a time when Idiagbon was away from the country, attending an event he was invited to in Saudi Arabia.

Southerners had better stop running from the north because that’s their plans. To make the vote undivided in the north … I want change but I don’t think apc with same recycled thieves who came out of pdp wld give us that change. Not after funding buhari’s campaign .. I want a democrasy where our leaders can hold debates and convince us on why we shld vote them. Not tell us to kill people if we denied the votes! How certain are they, that the elections were rigged? @ that is it worth taking the lives of innocent nigerians? If there shld be any purging, it shld be on them. Purge those politicians from the surface of the earth.. All of them.. Then that’s. Change. Until then. Sai Jonah

just two things…. 1. Charles Novia has this self serving arrogant communication style which is actually quite irritating. unfortunately he is too old to change now but it wouldn’t be bad if he could at least make an effort to keep some of his opinions to himself…… 2. Charles said “You vote, I vote. INEC decides.#Myvote” that’s just dumb…… and quite stupid… Nigeria decides, INEC counts…. that’s the real situation….. #my personal views

Charles Novia is very much free and entitled to vote for whomever tickles his fancy, that is the beauty of democracy or as Fela would say crazy demo.
I don’t see the big deal in him voting GEJ, it’s his conviction and I can respect him for that. And for those voting for GMB, you don’t owe anyone any explanation either, all that matters is that we turn and vote base on our conviction and whom we feel will best perform for Nigeria because we really need a change badly and hopefully our votes will count towards this

I might not know politics but I know that Jonathan has down nothing in the last four years. If Buhari wanted Nigeria to be an Islamic state, I believe he would have done it because we all know jona is clueless on security matters. I might not be voting particularly for Buhari (becos I personally think he’s too darn old) but I will vote for him becaus of the cabinet he will choose. The fact that I know that the likes of fashola, fayemi, amaechi will be part of that cabinet then I have hope. That Buhari will do way better than gej has done and would ever do.

Clearly Missy J…There are some valid reasons why you critic the President but don’t throw caution to the wind based on the past, a man’s thoughts are deeper than can be seen. Choose who you want. Furthermore, some of your ‘not voting GEJ reasons’ were caused by individuals, both in public and private service, save your “list of condemnation” for the present government, there’s enough hating and finger pointing already, we know the lapses.
By the way,the manner people even spew disrespect for authorities these days on social media is appalling, have you no fear?! Romans 13:1-7. You can validate your point without being verbally abusive, don’t type vile behind an equipment.
There’s much happening than meets the eye. Choosing a Government is a matter of trust, no matter how much you see, there’s little you’ll know.

Buhari is violent man with no viable economic plans. all we see andvhear are promises with no clear plan on how he intends to fulfil them. you vote for this man you lose your freedom of speech. just ask the journalists and activists who were jailed for speeaking against his draconian regime. the rot in the system.

jonathan signed the freedom of information bill and that is why we actually know of all the corruption. previous leaders squashed foi. heck, even apc refused to sign the foi bill.

buhari anti-corruption mantra is a complete sham. how can he be anti- corruption when his party apc is full ofcorrupt, theiving former pdp money bags who contributed to destroying nigeria?!

think my fellow nigerians nefore darkness covers us up.vote wisely. vote for Jonathan!

  22. NagosBigBoi

The man’s point is still correct. Stop all the insulting. You cannot change someone’s mind by insulting them. There are 3 types of nigerian voters now…..GEJ’s, GMB’s and undecideds. You can only change the minds of undecideds. Facts and figures like some people wrote above is what does it for those who are still undecided..

While that’s great for our mediocre( at best) celebrities, it’s horrible for elections. My empty barrel Novia, you reason is based on emotions and not facts. You feel..I don’t care about your feeling. GEJ is the worst thing to ever happen to Nigeria and if he wins, Nigeria will collapse because it has reached the breaking point. Now that’s fact not based on emotion. I wish I was in Naija because I would campaign for Buhari. Pple get your PVC and let’s get that subpar, dumb and spineless human being out. The simple question I have for those planning on voting for Mr Jonathan is do you have constant electricity? Nigerians don’t understand the transformation that constant electricity will bring to communities all over Nigeria. Electricity is the single most important project that is capable of changing our lives for the better. I expect electricity supply to be top priority of any administration. Why are you building schools when students don’t have light to study? Businesses are spending fortune every single day on generator. That’s money they could have use to pay bonuses to their staff. Nigeria is in darkness every single day and that makes me sad. I see Lagos in darkness from the sky each time I fly to Nigeria. The largest black city is constantly in darkness. I think we should all be ashamed to speak/stand for this President and his administration on this single subject alone. I will not write about other problems this country is facing.

Quiet frankly, I would be surprised if any member of the Ibinabo led Nollywood/AGN comes out publicly to say something against GEJ. Sadly, this body is just a mirror of the average Nigerian mentality. GEJ gives them attention, they can go to Aso Rock on courtesy visit anytime, organize a private screening if they like but the concrete things that a serious government needs to do empower the industry is not being done yet this people would mobilize for him, all for what? personal gains.

How many of them can honestly provide proof of being beneficiary to the promised intervention funds? How many of them can sincerely tell us that cost of production has reduced since GEJ? Rather it has risen, they still move about with generators from location to location, fuel consumes a huge chunk of their production processes from editing to what not yet they will support Jonathan because he gives them attention. Attention that has not elevated you nor your craft. Any wonder, Kunle Afolayan wanted to relocate.

No serious minded film maker will support Jonathan. A film maker cannot apply for loans because of the double-digit interest rates. So what exactly is the basis of their support? What is being done about the alarming piracy consuming their profits? The National Theatre is being speculated to have been sold to a UAE company who wants to convert it to a duty-free shopping mall. Nollywood that place is your heritage! What about the $200m Project Act Nollywood? how many Thespians have been sent on courses like was promised?

Virtually, every achievement in Nollywood is achieved through extreme doggedness and unbelievable can-do spirit, some support from the private sector and not by Government intervention Are these not real barometers to hold any Government accountable by? What questions have they posed to any of the presidential candidates on the state of their industry? This myopic attitude is what is responsible for the quality of content we get from Nollywood. Mediocre people accept Mediocre standards. Talking about voting for love?!!!

PS: Sorry about the epistle, just had to air my view.

The legendary Nigerians of Africa! 2000 of your citizens have died today at the hands of terrorists without so much as a mention from the president of your country, but he sees it fit to campaign and dance for another 4 years of being tasked to be in charge of the security of Nigerians, and some of you are happy for him to carry on without holding him accountable?

Our journey as a nation has not even started, and I pray God does not allow us postpone it’s potential commencement for another 4 years. I don’t know for sure that Buhari is the answer, but I am 100% sure that ANYONE but Jonathan will do at this point. He has failed woefully.

People please note GMB was Federal Commissioner for Petroleum and Natural Resources March 1976 – 1978, GMB was head of state 1984 – 1985.

We had 4 refineries in Nigeria: 2 in Port Harcourt, 1 in Kaduna and Warri respectively. Warri refinery project was concluded in 1978, Kaduna refinery project was concluded in 1980, Port Harcourt refineries the first was commissioned in 1963 and the second was commissioned in 1989, both were merged into one in 1993, thus making it 3 refineries.

The decision to construct the second (Warri) and third (Kaduna) refineries was taken in 1974. GMB did not build any refineries, refineries were under construction prior to his appointment and one got concluded the year his tenure ended.

Air Transport fares is actually currently now more competitive and not as expensive as it used to be. This is due the new entrants who have been able to secure Air Operators Certificates (AOC) such as Azhman, Medview, to mention a few and break the seemingly monopoly of Arik and Aero.

ATM surcharge for when you use your ATM card on another banks machine: on the 13th of November 2012 the N100 charge was removed by the Banker’s Committee of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). On the 1st of September, 2014 the CBN commenced a N65 charge on an ATM card after it had been used four (4) times in a month on a bank machine different from the bank who issued the ATM card. GEJ was president in 2012 and in 2014 – This is in response of ATM charge from zero to N65

Where I live in Ajah, Lagos Electricity is billed by a pay as you go metre. When there is no light, the card does not read, in other words you are not charged.

Two wrongs would never ever make a right. Kidnapping Umaru Dikko to try him for corruption is just as bad as the acts he was said to have committed. It is not something to ever be celebrated. To punish anyone, specifically: Bernard Ogedengbe then aged 29 with a sanction that was not applicable at the time the crime was committed is not a laudable gesture. Retroactive laws are never ever to be celebrated.

Having 10 presidential jets by GEJ is absurd. No I do not support a lot of his actions. The response to the Chibok girls’ stands out as a sore thumb for me. However, when we write things out like they are facts, would we be so kind and conduct due diligence least we be found to spread lies as truths.

An aside: I read a lot about the arguments for and against either GMB and GEJ, none regarding the potential governors of the states. Lets not forget they also have a part to play in the development of their individual states> Thus, we should scrutinise their precedents and promises to enable us all make informed decisions come 14th February. 2015.

    Long live Nigeria!
