The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) has threatened to resume its militant activities as a way of protesting what it describes as “the absurd salaries” of National Assembly members.

MEND spokesperson, Jomo Gbomo, made the declaration via an e-mail statement, The Nation reports:

These wicked individuals appropriate to themselves huge and absurd salaries and allowances at the expense of the millions of hapless Nigerians, who have not been paid for months, their salaries, pensions and other benefits they deserve.

The Niger Delta region where the bulk of revenue that sustains the nation comes from, continues to suffer neglect, environmental degradation and lack, made worse by the very corrupt and visionless past government of Goodluck Jonathan and his cronies, some of who still shamelessly parade themselves on national television and other media platforms as ‘Niger Delta Activists.’

Nigerians refuse to tolerate this ostentatious lifestyle of our lawmakers, whose main objective, it seems, is to enrich themselves and carelessly spend scarce resources. The Niger Delta people refuse to pamper and cater for the needs of these thieving Assembly rogues to their detriment.

If the lawmakers refuse to make the necessary adjustments needed to accompany the needs of the masses and the Niger Delta region, it may lead to the resumption of hostilities.”

MEND also asked Nigerians to hold the members of the 8th National Assembly responsible, if its fighters resume hostilities, declaring that: “enough is enough.”

They have spoken. If these NASS are not senseless, even if you’re to be given such amount, can’t you say NO, knowing fully well the status of the country’s economy.

      MEND does not fool around.
Meanwhile, l will be pleasantly surprised if the thieves in all elected offices in the 36 states of the federation plus Abuja are willing to sacrifice for the common good. I by no means mean the tired nonsense about salary cut. All that scandalous allowances in a country where the official minimum wage is N18,000.

With the current price of oil, even l fear for Buhari. The man is between the devil and the deep blue sea. Meanwhile, election promises abrekete, plenty jaburata.

The old adage two wrongs don’t make a right comes to mind. Fighting corruption with violence especially considering that innocent bystanders may become collateral damage.

GOD ALMIGHTY. CREATOR OF HEAVEN AND EARTH. YOU SENT YOUR ONLY SON JESUS CHRIST TO DIE ON THE CROSS OF CALVARY FOR OUR SAKE. THAT WE MAY HAVE PEACE AND FREE FROM ADVERSITY. I COMMIT THIS COUNTRY NIGERIA INTO YOUR HANDS.

    FORGIVE US OUR SINS.

I PRAY YOU BRING BACK PEACE TO OUR LAND.

TEACH OUR LEADERS THE RIGHT WAY TO LEAD.

TOUCH THE HEART OF BOKO HARAM AND MAKE THEM REALIZE THE PAIN THEY HAVE CAUSED TO INNOCENT PEOPLE.

TEACH ME HOW TO SHOW LOVE TO MY NEIGHBORS AND PUT SMILES IN THEIR FACES DAILY.

IN JESUS NAME I HAVE PRAYED, AMEN.

The overhead for running government in Nigeria is too high hence our inability to built basic infrastructures. The National Assembly budget is bogus and I support the actions of these guys to cause a review of this bogus alllowances. People are suffering in this country while few are enjoying, haba!

Rather than resuming your activities recall your Senators.

To break it down, their activities threaten the economy as a whole, if they resume WE will all be affected, they are better off using the power of the ballot.
