Victims of Fire in Kebbi Market to share N115million

Kebbi State Government says N115million was realised as donation from individuals, politicians and corporate bodies for victims of recent inferno at Birnin Kebbi Central Market.

Abubakar Dakingari, Press Secretary to the state Governor, made this known in a statement released in Birnin Kebbi on Friday.

According to the statement, the money would be given to the victims in five categories, “proportionate to their losses”.

It said categories (1) comprising 24 victims would get N50,000 (2) with 73 victims get N100,000 (3) with 35 victims to get N150,000 (4) with 254 victims to get N300,000 and (5) comprising 467 to get N400,000 each.

It indicated that reconstruction of the market would commence immediately.

Chairman, Management Committee of the Market, Muhammadu Dangura, called on the authorities to help the traders to get loans from commercial banks to boost their trade.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), recalls that the market was gutted in March 2016.
