About 18 persons were reportedly killed in a bomb blast at about 9AM on Wednesday around Muna garage Maiduguri Borno State.
Witnesses say a car bomb, suspected to have been planted by Boko Haram insurgents hit a convoy of vehicles around the garage.
According to Daily Trust, the explosion went off as the convoy, which comprises trucks and vehicles conveying goods and passengers, with a military escort was going to Gamboru Ngala.
A witness said he saw 10 corpses at the scene of the explosion, but a source in Maiduguri Specialist Hospital told the Daily Trust that no fewer than 18 bodies were deposited in the hospital morgue with more being expected.
However, Public Relations Officer of Borno State Police Command, DSP Emmanuel Isuku, said 5 persons died, while 5 others sustained injuries.
