Fashion Designer Diarra Bousso whose academic background is in Mathematics plays with the concept of combinatorics and optimisations to create a line of engineered digitally-printed indigo swimsuits. Diarra said;

I wanted to highlight Senegalese sartorialism through the celebration of our traditional tie-dyed fabrics, also called ‘thioub and generally worn as boubous, while still being practical and relevant for the modern consumer who wants to look regal while enjoying her day at the beach.

The Inspiration Behind the Collection

The DIARRABLU swim 2017 collection titled “Infinity”, explores yet again Diarra’s fascination with the concept of dreams and their multiplicative effect on one’s imagination. With a particular passion for Mathematics, the designer celebrates the notion of the infinite by turning 6 basic swimsuits and 4 overtops into at least 25 distinct swimwear looks by using combinatorics.

To highlight the importance of geometry in her work, Diarra includes a line of three-piece swimsuits with Greek-letter names featuring ankara or fishnet over tops on geometric bikinis.

Diarra also releases her first shoe designs in this collection. She revisits the Senegalese leather sandals but adds 8m of straps that go all the way up to your thighs in yellow mustard, orange red and blue. These infinity sandals are also very practical with the option of changing the straps and turning one pair of shoes into an infinite number.

Ultimately, Infinity pays tribute to all women, their extensive strength, their unbounded capacity to adapt and transform and ultimately, their infinite dimension.
