Millennials Discuss Racism, Interracial Dating, Religion & More Issues affecting African-Australians | WATCH Episodes 1 -3 of Say it Loud

Say It Loud is a panel-based web series that seeks to discuss and resolve current issues that are important to millennials of Australia’s African and Indigenous communities. Born out of a desire to hear the black voices in Australian media, Say It Loud seeks to remedy the lack of representation for this demographic. The show is the brainchild of four young African-Australians, and the panel includes voices from Australia’s Ethiopian, Ghanaian, Nigerian, Somali, South Sudanese and Aboriginal communities.

Issues that will be touched on in Say It Loud include, Racism, Assimilation, Interracial Dating, Religion and more

Rebka Bayou, writer and content creator of Say It Loud says: If you truly want multiculturalism in Australia, and for people to feel like they’re a part of this country and able to contribute to it, then you need to make them feel like they’re part of it. And a huge part of that is representing them in the media.

I enjoyed watching the episodes and as a fellow African-Australian, could totally relate with the issues raised especially in episode 3. The episode on religion was a tricky one but I think they navigated it well. I loved how the panelists respectfully shared their opinions without talking over one another. Was also nice to see them ‘click’ as the episodes progressed. Really proud of my fellow Afro-Aussies and looking forward to more from the Say it Loud team!
