This Couple couldn’t Get Married at the Registry due to the Nationwide Labour Strike

A couple in the Eti-Osa area of Lagos couldn’t get married at the registry on Thursday due to the ongoing nationwide strike by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC).

The body had announced the strike on Wednesday, saying it is protesting the minimum wage which is N18,000.

The couple spoke to BBC News Pidgin about how they’ve been begging officials to wed them.

Bros N:LC is fighting a greater cause right now.

But your situation just made me ask the question, if they never resume work, those that mean you will never get married? does that mean you can never have children? what does it mean to be even married? why does a 3rd party have a say in who is and who isnt married?

You’ve just opened my eyes to something new.
