Governor Samuel Ortom

Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom is renaming a primary school after Ochanya Ogbaje, the 13-year-old girl who died after being raped by her uncle and his son.

Andrew Ogbuja, Head of Department, Catering and Hotel Management at the Benue State Polytechnic, Ugbokolo, and his son, Victor Inalegwu Ogbuja, a final year student of Animal Production at the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, had raped Ochanye since she was 8, leading to her death at 13.

Punch reports that Ortom, during an interaction with journalists, shared that a school in the local government Ochanye lived in will be given a facelift and renamed after her. He said:

I have instructed the SUBEB boss to give facelift to the LGEA primary school, Ogene Amejo in Okpokwu local government area where the late Ochanya who was allegedly raped by her uncle and son had her primary education.

We shall provide all instructional materials for the school and name it after her.
