This collection for MOMO (headed by designer, Fati Asibelua) was centered on showcasing her love for opulent fabrics. She explores traditional couture brocades, jacquards and silk to create delicate textured pieces with a leopard print fox fur coat in the mix, organza linings and silk georgette bindings.
Opting for a sharp silhouette in black and navy blue, she adds a splash of colour with pink and a feminine allure with the floral accented pieces. She makes an effort to transform the fabrics into contemporary mainstream designs by featuring easy- to- wear cocktail dresses in this collection, which are glamorized by the fabric mixes and detailing on the bodice and skirts and a fur coat , which was definitely an interesting addition to her collection.
With this collection, I sense her desire to appeal to a wider range of people and cultures ,but at the same time, she tries to ensure that each piece still reflects its African roots.
The collection is simple, and its message its clear; she celebrates the richness of fabrics by presenting a collection that embodies an eclectic blend of textures with her individual interpretation of traditional African print.
My favourite piece in this collection is the the Little Black Dress. I love the dramatic details surrounding the shoulders, the contrast of a plunging neckline with a long-sleeve. It’s one piece that stands out in this collection; lovely textures; and a flattering cut!

ouuuuuu d jackets r def speaking to me. Im guessing all of those short dresses are gonna be paired with tights to be pulled off successfully in winter….glad Momo decided to leave Maxi dresses out of the collection. Good stuff!!!!!!

Love, how does this even speak to you? There’s no winter in Nigeria FOA and the clothes are just copy cats of Yankee stuff, and no I’m not saying Momo should wrap everything in ankara so it would be “African”, but it’s just not fashion forward.
