BN Bytes: Amber Rose in Accra to host the Vodafone 020 Live Concert – Advises Ghanaian girls against falling into the wrong lifestyle

It caused a mini “sensation” when American hip-hop vixen Amber Rose was billed to host the Music Meets Runway event in Nigeria but did not attend due to a booking mix-up. Now she has landed in West Africa for a different event, Amber Rose will be hosting the Vodafone 020 Live Concert in Accra, Ghana tonight.

The annual concert is in its second year and this time, international R&B star is headlining the concert. Other artistes billed to perform include VIP, Five5, R2Bees, Stay Jay, D Cyme, RnM and D’Banj.

According to Uche Ofodile, Chief Marketing Officer for Vodafone Ghana, “020 Live is the biggest musical concert in Ghana and this is because of Vodafone’s firm commitment to music. We want to give Ghanaians and our customers the best experience in everything we do so we have made sure that the 020 Live concert is second to none. This year, we have produced a show that exhibits the best of international and African talent which promises to be a powerful combination of music and dance. We firmly believe that music is one of the simplest forms of expression and communication and this is something we want to share with music lovers in Ghana.

Since she arrived in Ghana, Amber Rose has taken time out to explore the country and inspire young ladies in the country. Check out her photos below and her words on each of the experiences.

I went & spoke 2 young girls at an Islamic school in Ghana today about Girl Power education & not falling into the wrong lifestyle as I did as a young girl. I made a lot of mistakes in my life & they've come back to haunt me, but now I have the opportunity 2 talk to girls all over the world & to let them know that they should chose a better way & not follow in my footsteps. These girls are Awesome & it was a true blessing meeting them today they have inspired me! #InspireGirls #GirlPower

The guys played the drums for me & said they wanted to Welcome me home, naturally I told them I wasn't from Africa & They said "We r all brothers & sisters everyone comes from Africa Welcome home Amber" #Deep

#TeamAmberRose & I went to a Village in Ghana to feed the children today we laughed, cried & the locals made us really cool bracelets it was an amazing experience #GiveBack :-)

  • Truth!!! September 20, 2011 at 11:48 am

What is she talking about? Lifestyle when she was young?

And what do you speak of the pictures of her sticking her tongue down Whiz Khalifa’s throat a couple of weeks ago in PUBLIC on the red carpet? #ThisKindThingDeyVexMe!!!

What she is doing is good, but abeg, spare me the “Once I was young and stupid, now I am grown and wise” story! Google to see pictures if u dont believe me. Just type amber rose kiss whiz khalifa. Tahh!!! Inspire Girls ko… Shey it’s because she thinks the “African Girls” don’t have access to internet? So she come and think she can act as Mother theresa? #GetOuttaHere!

    • Sandra September 20, 2011 at 1:12 pm

What are you talking about? Like seriously….. Please do not judge because we all have skeleton in our closet including you. And lastly what were you doing looking up Amber Rose pictures on the net?? Hmmmm, yeah…smh

  • Luvlyn September 20, 2011 at 11:55 am

I’m disgusted!! Since wen has Amber rose become a role model 2 anyone not 2 tok of young ladies. This is d same chic dat had her NUDE pics all over d internet a couple of months ago. She was also doing explicite stuffs with her fingers. So out of all d millions of celebs in d world, its only x-rated Amber Rose dat was selected?? Very questionable. These young girls she is so -called inspiring will one day come accross her fotos. Amber Rose is not a role model!!! Geez . Organisers plss take out time to do background checks on celebs b4 u invite dem in d mist of young ppl thanks..
Ps.. Bellanaija post my comment. I hav a ryt 2 an honest opinion. Thanks.

  • Lil miss sunshine September 20, 2011 at 12:02 pm

Am impressed that she is doing something positive for once, and inspiring young girls in the right direction . Continue this way Amber and the public will begin to admire and respect you for more than just your behind.

  • ivory September 20, 2011 at 12:09 pm

nawa for dis amber rose… i saw her naked pics all over internet..including the ones she took touchin her clitoris….rumour bn dat she snaped it for boyfrd who paid some millions for it..very disgusting…..she can neva be my role model…

  • Bellar September 20, 2011 at 12:12 pm

Nobody ever said Amber Rose is a role model, the fact of the matter is this, young people everywhere you go know of her and wierd as it sounds, she does command some kind of attention, be it good or bad, the kids /teens in that age group whether american or african know of her and some may even aspire to her. Why are we so quick to be judgement! na wa o.

  • Bellar September 20, 2011 at 12:13 pm

P.s . what has her personal relationship with WizzK have to do with her doing a presentation – ah so you people no dey kiss your own again, mxm abeg, you all just need to focus ont he subject at hand, her work here in Africa and forget all her personal relationship issues/doings with her “current BOYFRIEND”.

    • Sandra September 20, 2011 at 1:06 pm

I know right. She is not denying the things she did or still is doing. The fact that she’s was bold enough to admit it and advised young people not take that path to me it’s good thing. Nobody is perfect. Whether you did not take nude pictures or did not have your tongue down a man’s throat in public, one way or another we all have sinned. And all i know is sin is sin whether it’s small sin or big sin.

      • Tommygirl. September 21, 2011 at 1:46 pm

Preach It Sista!!! All of dem don automatically turn holy holy!!

    • nickyminaj September 21, 2011 at 12:07 pm

Even the bible says do what i say but don’t do what i do. Amber rose has every right to advice those girls as long as its positive advice and not negative.

      • senoritta September 22, 2011 at 12:00 am

Pls quote that part of the bible the says so……

  • Luvlyn September 20, 2011 at 12:58 pm

@truth… I agree wif u 100000%. These ppl think africa is so backward dat we don’t hav access 2 tv and internet. Just a clik off d internt and u wud see embarrasing pornographic stuffs of Amber hoes. I wudnt b surprised if a stripper is invited next time to tok 2 young ppl abt getting a proffessional job. Lmao. Y’ll go check out Amber’s nude pics. It was on mediatakeout.com a while ago. So embarrasing. Wat nonsense!! Thank God no b naija she even come!!
Ps. Bellanaija post my comment. I’m entittled 2 an opinion!! Thanks

  • Dee September 20, 2011 at 2:13 pm

Kai, baby yii o tie sharp (this babe isn’t sharp) ! She sounds like an air head!

  • mbulela September 20, 2011 at 2:24 pm

When a company pays the likes of Amber Rose to come and inspire young girls, you have to wonder what is wrong with that company.
Infact, you have to wonder what is wrong with us humans.
No one is claiming to be holier than thou.
But you read that article above and tell me there is nothing fundamentally wrong with it.
If i was a shareholder of Vodafone, Uche Ofodile would have some serious questions to answer.

    • Chi September 20, 2011 at 4:41 pm

Have to agree here – I think it’s about standards, not to judge an individual, but to send a consistent message. Let us all try our best to be consistent in character sha – it’s a tough challenge but doable.

  • pynk September 20, 2011 at 2:29 pm

lol @ Amber rose being a model on righteousness. Aint her folks from Cape Verde? All this i am not African business gets tired after a while abeg.

  • Joy September 20, 2011 at 2:54 pm

Y’all need to back up, she is not trying to be a role model, she is just wants these girls to go on the right path, she doesn’t want them to be messed up like her, when she was young she was so poor and helpless she had to be a stripper, and yes i know thats not right and she knows it too, that was all she could do in her mind set. But she regrets it, and now the only thing that can support her is fame, so free the girl, little girls need someone to talk to them, and they got amber rose, and all these idiots that are saying she called africa a village, please a beg, you all heard what she said, she is not here for the rich, she is here for the poor, why would she go and meet rich kids who are probably educated and teach them, when there are other people who need help. Jesus hardly approached the rich, he attended to the poor, because they needed help, so free amber rose!!!!!

    • Sandra September 20, 2011 at 4:30 pm

Joy my dear, you and i are on the same page here. You are not just smart but also wise. Some people do not read in-between the lines. They just talk/write for the sake of it. This girl is not saying she is righteous-atleast that’s not what i read in the write up. Some people are saying the west think Africa has no tv or computer, so are you saying when Beyonce, Trey, and the others who are not Amber Rose or did not do/are not doing the things Amber Ross is doing know there are tv and computers in Africa? Come on people stop this pretentious attitude. There are some girls in Nigeria and indeed Africa that are doing the same even worst then what Amber Rose is doing, but because you do not see it on your tv or on your computer screen does not mean it’s not happening. Atleast Amber’s own is known almost everywhere around the world….. Education is not all about reading, writing and arithmetic, but also to broaden ones thinking and see beyond mere words.

  • Maame September 20, 2011 at 4:18 pm

This girl has no idea what she’s talking about! she has only been to Ghana and she’s talking about Africa. Ghana is not Africa. Africa is comprised of 53 independent states, i really hate it when ppl talk about it like its a country and not a continent. and what does she mean by there’s no middle class in Ghana. i myself am not extremely rich or extremely poor of course there’s a middle class! and saying that the rich ppl are not doing anything to help the poor. Really, really? all the donations that ppl make to help the poor in Ghana. it might be that enough has not been acheived yet but that does not mean that no one is helping out? Amber clearly is clueless!

  • Africhic September 20, 2011 at 4:42 pm

    Oh the irony?

  • MissCJ September 20, 2011 at 4:49 pm

@Joy: You made my day with ur comment! Well-said!

  • Kokolet September 20, 2011 at 6:33 pm

Nawa, wht is she talkina abt self,,,

  • F.O September 20, 2011 at 8:49 pm

ALL of u should SHUT UP, if u r better than her, how may lives has u imparted??? @least she made many pple happy…Nigerians u pple can not appreciate anything, how many of u r better than her? Bcos ur sex tapes dont exist y’all think u r saints…mschewwwww if u have nothing positive to say SHUT UP and stop casting stones….

  • VOA September 20, 2011 at 9:53 pm

She’s up to no good here in the STATES

  • Luvlyn September 20, 2011 at 10:24 pm

Yeh no one shud cast stones blah blah blah!!! If Amber was a FORMER bad girl dat has found out her bad ways and is better den I wud agree dat she an inspiration but d point here is dat she is still in d nudity business and sextape stuff. She is not a changed person and therefore shud NOT be an inspirator 2 anyone. Wat a load of bullocks. Its like a prostitut lecturing me on d negativity of prostitution and den at night goes back 2 standing on d road 4 a pickup. Amber is d WRONG celeb 4 dis. If u don’t like wat I hav 2 say go jump into something very deep.

  • achi September 20, 2011 at 10:38 pm

was jst about saying that @ F.O…we dont appreciate the good of people in life…she has decided to this one good…and instead we want to crucify her..lets ask ourselves how good we are b4 we cast those who make an effort to do good.

  • anon September 21, 2011 at 12:32 am

    LOL.. how ironic. Amber rose???

  • zee September 21, 2011 at 9:46 am

who the F* is she talking to girls—->LOL<—- Anyways, get that paper Amber!!! It's recession out here! Chicks and B- gotta eat!!!

  • Tommygirl. September 21, 2011 at 2:02 pm

Dear holy people, how many young girls in your vicinity have you adviced or given a kind word? **Remove the plank in ur eye first o!**

  • :) September 21, 2011 at 2:38 pm

She’s pretty. Everyone has a little bit of wisdom to share, but I don’t think I’d let my daughter listen to advice from Amber. IDK. If she was giving street girls or prostitutes advice I’d get it, not school girls. These girls will now go and start looking her up and wanting to be like her. IF it was in naij the muslims would give a Hell no! to this! …but like I said, everyone has lessons to share and I have never walked in her shoes or read her story so I can’t completely knock the idea…

  • jackie September 21, 2011 at 6:59 pm

A PORN STAR WITH NAKED PICTURES OF HERSELF ON THE INTERNET PLAYING ROLE MODEL AND ADVISER TO GHANA CHILDREN WHO MOST LIKELY WOULD NEVER HAVE THE AMBITION TO BE THAT BAD ANYWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    TERRIBLE.
I LIVE IN UK, AND IF YOU GUYS KNOW HOW THIS WOMAN IS PERCIEVED…LIKE AN OUTCAST. EVEN FOR BLACK AMERICANS, SHE IS A DISGRACE..
YET SHE CAN COME TO AFRICA TO PATRONISE OUR CHILDREN…
SHAME ON THOSE WHO LET HER IN.

    THIS IS WHAT THEY DO. WHEN THEIR LIFE IS CONDEMNED IN THE WESTERN WORLD{SHE IS CURRENTLY REELING FROM THE SCANDAL OF HAVING HER HAND IN HER VAGINA ALL OVER THE INTERNET; AND BEING DUMPED BY KANYE WEST; AND GENERALLY BEING AT HER WITS END}, THEY COME TO AFRICA ON A SELF DISCOVERY PILGRIMAGE…AND PRETEND THEY ARE INTERESTED IN OUR PEOPLE {WHO ARE MUCH HAPPIER THAN THEM… INSPITE OF ALL THEY SAY THEY HAVE}

    THEY ARE COMING TO THE HOMELAND —MOTHER AFRICA— TO FEEL THE MAGIC AND HEALING WHICH ONLY AFRICA PROVIDES{WHY DO YOU THINK THEY ARE ALWAYS VISITING?}
WE WATCH PROGRAMMES HERE IN LONDON WHERE THEY TALK ABOUT THE POSITIVE TRANSFORMATION IN THEIR LIVES AFTER A VISIT TO THE CONTINENT. SO WE OVER HERE KNOW BETTER!

  • jackie September 21, 2011 at 7:40 pm

OH GOD, MY BELLY TURNS LIKE HELL [LITERALLY] AS I READ AMBER ROSE TWITER POST. SHE SAID AND I QUOTE: “I went to a Village in Ghana to feed the children…”
IT WAS SAD JUST THINKING ABOUT THE STEREOTYPE OF AFRICA AS A PLACE OF HUNGER AND DISEASE…
TO HAVE THIS FOREIGN CREATURE TO PATRONISE THE COUNTRY FROM INSIDE THE COUNTRY IS A FIRST…. WHAT IS SHE STILL DOING THERE.

ANYWAY THANK GOD I AM NOT A GHANIAN…BUT IT STILL HURT ME.

LUCKILY THIS CAN NEVER HAPPEN IN NIGERIA. EVEN IF YOU ARE THE MOST POWERFUL WORLD LEADER IN THE WORLD, YOU WILL HAVE TO LEAVE THE COUNTRY FIRST, BEFORE YOU START MAKING ANY NASTY COMMENTS. I RECALL CAMERON OF BRITAIN WAS IN NIGERIA THIS YEAR, AND HE WAS VERY POLITE.

IN NIGERIA IT IS AN ABOMINATION TO ABUSE OR TRY TO {KNOWINGLY OR UNKNOWINGLY} DISGRACE A PERSON IN HIS OWN COMPOUND.

ENOUGH SAID. DRIVE HER OUT PEACEFULLY, BUT DRIVE HER OUT ALL THE SAME.
