Surprise Split! No More P-Square & May D….Artiste is No Longer Signed to Square Records

Major moves in the Nigerian music industry today as Square Records and Northside Entertainment CEO Jude “Engees” Okoye announced via the label’s publicist Bayo Adetu that May D is no longer signed to the label.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
I,JUDE ‘ENGEES’ OKOYE of Square Records Limited and Northside Entertainment Limited hereby announces to the general public that Mr. Akinmayokun Awodumila, otherwise known as MAY D is no longer an artiste under the aforementioned outfits due to irreconcilable differences.
We at Northside and Square records wish him all the best in his career and life.
This is really sad! May-D’s career has soared since he joined Square Records. There is no word on the details of the split.

How is this sad at all? For all we know, he may not have been signed in the first place. The alliance might have been a cooperated effort for both parties to help garner hype and attention for May-D. Either way, we now recognize him, he makes good music, and that’s all that counts, the real goal has been achieved. There is no sad story here.

If you are surprised by this then something is wrong. P Square has an antecedent of using people without giving credit, they are selfish and self centred. This is a group that used Waje on “Do me” single without any reference to the poor lady until she voiced out. She was not even featured in the video and no mention was made of her contributions even on the album. They claim Engees shoots their video but Engees has never shot videos for anyone else like Clarence Peters, Patrick Elis, Akin Alabi etc in the industry apart from P Square. How are we sure someone’s effort is not being usurped by Engees?. Since they started they have never helped anyone successfully instead they use people without giving them credit or kudos. Its unfortunate they have used May D again but I know without P Square, May D will succeed. He needs a good record label that recognises talent and not charlatans like P Square. Good riddance.

Shut the – up @Truthbetold. MAY D was the ultimate gainer. Nobody used him. lemme ask u fool a simple question. Did May D bring anything to the table when he was signed? The dude was totally unknown at the time. Rather, he’s joining Square Records, brought him fame and fortune. The Psquare brand is already famous worldwide. So if anybody was used, the Psquare brand was used by MAY D to achieve fame and fortune. Waje was unknown at the time the ‘Do me’ song was done. Her voicing out that she was in the video made her what she is today because the song was a massive hit worldwide and as a contributor in that song people reckoned with her. Waje and Psquare enjoy a seamless relationship. Dont forget she was at the invasion concert. So next time you want to put a comment here, let it be devoid of sentiments. -
May D gave ” Chop My M<oney" life and soul. He is the unique flavour in that song. The others just sound the same in the song. You take out May D's part and you will hear the difference ..P/s lets not be rude to each other ok? We can communicate politely even in disagreement. Thanks.

It is actually P-Square’s loss because his part of the “Chop my Money” song and video is the best . He can make it without them. he has the talent. he just needs to build the confidence and get a good manager/promoter.
FYI – May D wrote chop my money and a bunch of their songs. So they both gained from each other.
