Prophet T.B Joshua sponsors Nigerian Student, Yinka Oduwole with N26 Million for a PhD at Oxford University

It seems that the activities of Nigerian Pastors have for the past few weeks been trending topics on social media. Today, news about the the founder of The Synagogue Church Of All Nations (SCOAN), T.B. Joshua‘s donation of N26 million to a member of the church for the completion of her PhD programme is creating a buzz.
On Sunday 18th November 2012 at his church, he announced that he had taken up the responsibility of sponsoring a Nigerian student to complete her PhD programme at the University of Oxford to the tune of £100,000, approximately N26 million.
As reported on the Pastor’s Facebook page, the beneficiary, Yinka Oduwole, has been a member of the church for many years. She is a first-class graduate from the University of Lagos and was sponsored by Prophet T.B. Joshua for her Masters Degree in Broadband Communications at The University College London. She recently graduated with a distinction and was the best graduating student in her class.

Yinka explained that after gaining admission to Oxford University, her tuition fees are 100,000 British pounds, which is an equivalent to N26 million. Prophet T.B. Joshua said that he is ready to sponsor her for her PhD in Engineering Science knowing that he is sponsoring a leader of tomorrow.
The young lady who has been a youth worker for many years at the church said “My advice to youth all over the world is that they should pray as if everything depends on God and work as if everything depends on them.”

They should SPONSOR the development of Nigeria so these EXCELLENT STUDENTS can stay behind and DEVELOP NIGERIA instead of FURTHERING THE DEVELOPMENT OF EUROAMERICAN countries.

There is. I commend the girl for the efforts. She deserves a HUGE congratulations from me. But what is the point of sponsoring gifted people out of the country when they will not be a gift to the country. I know Nigerian government should take full responsibility for the development of Nigeria, but if that congregations paid their taxes (of course due to lack of accountability, transparency, and grand theft) to the governement, then maybe better education will be instituted in that country. My one kobo (which is useless these days).

Secondly, she was the best graduating in her Masters class and still needs sponsorship for her PHD? No research grant, no blue chip firns falling ovr themselves to sponsor her? I am slightly curious.
Most importantly, congratulations on her success both in her 1st and 2nd degrees. E no easy to be that outstanding.

So you people want all the men of God to come here or on air/TV telling all that they do to help people? You all are joking. I know most of these pastors who do great things to aid their flocks and people around them, but they dont mention it bcos they dont need to. My Pastor always shares whatever gift he gets among the less privileged in my church but I wont be surprised that any day God blesses him with a good car, tongues will start wagging. Many people that condemn pastors who bought private jets (which by the way is their choice) cant still see anything good about this, they’re still twisting it to bring out a fault. The bible instructs us to first remove the big chunk of wood in our eyes before removing a speck in other people’s lives. You that condemn others i hope you have some values yuo are adding to the people around the small space you have. Making Nigeria a better place is what we all should aspire to achieve both the rich and the poor. it is not meant for a particular set of people.

Either for pubilicity (in this case) or in exchange for a grand gift (in your case, your pastor received a car). Senior Prophet T.B Joshua, has proven by works and faith overtime that our duty as God’s children is to help others with our resources. Infact so far he is practicing true christianity, pple’s believe not withstanding, but u see! Pple must talk. Tanx Man of God.

Something just doesnt jell about this story. Why would such an exceptional student require such ‘bail out’ funding by TB Joshua? with the numerous grants, fellowships and sponsorship programs existing out there TB’s dole is almost unnecesary. Then what did she study at Unilag. From Broadband Engineering to a PhD in Engineering Science Specializing in Cancer Research?…….. Anyway congrats!

Thank God for her,but let our religious leader in this country remember that we have a lot of Nigeria out there who are hungry and jobless….just imagine the situation of the people who are affected by the recent flood in the country…Remember that they are humanbeing like us.

6 distinctions & 2 passes and she was the best graduating student in her class at UCL???I had 7 distinctions and 1 merit at Queen Mary and i was nowhere near the best graduating student in my class (Pardon me, i’m not tooting my own horn here, just curious as i was under the impression that UCL is amongst the best universities in the UK) Congrats to the chick sha,very proud of her outstanding achievements, PHD @Oxford is no small feat so thumbs up.
