Here Come the Flower Girls! Damilola Adegbite & Eku Edewor cover Genevieve Magazine’s 2012 Wedding Issue

By Damilare Aiki

It’s December and Nigerian lifestyle publication, Genevieve is out with the 2nd edition of its wedding issue with former Tinsel star, Damilola Adegbite and Studio 53 Xtra co-host, Eku Edewor, gorgeous in white ball gowns with beautiful bouquets on the cover.

Last year, supermodel and mom, Ojy Okpe graced the cover of the magazine’s wedding issue, where she dished all things Ojy. Now its time for Damilola and Eku, who star in the soon-to-be released romantic comedy flick by Michelle Bello set to be released on Valentine’s day, who speak on  love, life and their dream weddings.

According to the magazine, Damilola and Eku, who are both single, talk on love, relationship, their promising careers and men. On the subject love, Eku Edewor says “Love should be a little less complicated, especially as life is so complicated.”, while Damilola finishes off by saying “Man was not made to be alone.”

And we certainly do agree, pick up the latest issue of Genevieve for all details from these blushing brides.

Girls, girls, girls, if you are not Eku (okay that’s not fair, Eku is a bit extreme) or Dami’s size, or at most a dress size up from them max, please stay away from tube dresses. Biko. No boobs spilling over, no unsightly armpit fat, no christian mother arms. This is exactly how you should look in a tube dress, if you dont, abeg, go check other styles. Some may say this is photoshopped, but I dont agree, because we all know what I am saying about some brides and tube dresses. I have seen enough eyesore dresses on brides, these are girls who look absolutely fabulous in other types of dresses pre wedding, then they go choose a tube that does nothing for their body type. Also take a cue from their hair styles, loose and flirty, not the regular updos that tighten the face. Makeup natural, no colour riot of eyeshadows (less is more), simple earrings, no wristwatch, and no neck jewellery (you dont need to match your earrings) competing with the dress or your gorgeous (if you have) shoulders and skin. This is what I’ve been saying since, Genevieve, thank you o. its not only in oyinbo mags, you see stuff like this. Well done to the stylists, the cover looks like soemthing you will see in a foreign fashion mag, not the classic nigerian bride. Well done

LMAAAAOOOOOOO but why this essay nau?

      • TRUTH! December 3, 2012 at 2:58 PM

SMH HOW IGNORANT! YOU NEED TO SHUT THE HELL UP BCOS A BRIDES WEDDING DAY IS MEANT TO BE A DAY OF HAPPINESS FOR HER & I RECKON SHE SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO PUT ON WHATEVER STYLE OF DRESS SHE FEELS COMFORTABLE, CONFIDENT & HAPPY IN…NOT EVERYONE IS A SIZE 0-10 & I TRUST NOT EVERYONE WANTS TO STARVE THEMSELVES OR HAVE THE TIME TO GET TO THAT SIZE BEFORE THAT SPECIAL DAY ALL IN THE NAME OF “LOOKING RIGHT IN A TUBE DRESS”!! AS LONG AS THERE ISNT ANY INTENTIONAL INDECENT OVER EXPOSURE, I SAY GO AHEAD BRIDES, NO MATTER WHAT SIZE YOU ARE, WEAR WHATEVER PLEASES YOU & BE BEAUTIFUL!!

Aunty, is your Caps Lock button broken. Now you mentioned ignorance, it is quite ignorant of you to type a comment in capital letters. It makes you come across as a mad person screaming. Tube dresses do not fit every body type. Your wedding day is the day you look your best, why do some brides stubbornly insist on a dress that does them no favours at all? It is their day right, they can choose what they like. Wrong, if you are truly individualistic, since it is your day, you wont follow the dictates of fashion, but choose what suits you. The operative word is you. There are so many styles out there, tube is not by force. The unsightly brides I mentioned, dont look comfortable, confident or particularly happy in the dress. To mention decent, is another story entirely. My point was, dont follow the dictates of fashion, and pick a dress that suits your body style, your wedding pictures and your guests will thank you for it. Not everyone fits well in a tube dress, there’s no crime in that. Variety is the spice of life. This cover photo, just highlights, how a tube dress should sit on you. Fix your caps lock button dear, or take a prozac

This your question mark sha. Hope all is well?

Yes, go ahead and wear what you want! but you wouldnt want to look at your photos in a few years and say “damn, you b*tches didn’t tell me that I looked like chicken shawarma on my wedding day”. That’s why you should wear things that flatter your body type or feel very comfortable in.

        • Amazeballs! December 3, 2012 at 5:00 PM

ehn, but you can say what you want to say without shouting now. haba!

        • Simya December 3, 2012 at 7:33 PM

Aunty/Uncle cool your blood. Brides are meant to look elegant, and comments was just giving some necessary advice, it’s not by force to wear boob tube, plus I highly doubt boob spillage is comfortable

      • Que December 3, 2012 at 5:20 PM

…and who made you the wedding whisperer??? u sound pained! weddings are about the individuals and their individual modes of expression, if that makes u uncomfortable find d nearest pothole to go swim in!..see him/her yacking bout no this, that n d other…in ur mind u’ve convinced urself that u’re knowledgeable… oshi!

        • nekiss December 4, 2012 at 1:43 PM

Hmm… my guess is that all who are condemning @ comments constructive advise are all Orobokibos. Honestly, there’s nothing wrong with what she wrote, she just stated some good facts. But anyway shaa truth is always bitter. I had to copy and paste and print what she wrote as a guide on my wedding day o, because she made some very good points. So please no more fighting here okay…lol

      • sanyu December 3, 2012 at 11:38 PM

girl I couldn’t agree more.. Also flower girls are between the ages of 5-9 not grown women !

      • facingbook December 8, 2012 at 3:41 AM

….and who made you Lord over what anyone can wear to their wedding? What a bride wears may not be visually pleasing to you but as long as she is happy, weting consign you there. This one wey you come write dissertation on top wedding dress. Mcheww, abeg carry your self and go sit in a ditch.

Wow dis is so beautiful, ezquisite and just make we single ladies want to grab that gown and rush to d altar

    • Soraya December 3, 2012 at 7:43 PM

@Truth, haba! Comments is right- the dresses on these actresses only suit very thin people and also right about the make-up, go simple as less is more! True, it is good to be happy on your wedding day but come’on, you only get married once so why not keep things simple and well fitting rather than going for stuff that don’t suit?

That said, I love Damilola’s beautiful coco skin- black is beautiful!

    • Joanna December 3, 2012 at 8:04 PM

Lovely! i agree with some of @Comments eh..comments! People should make better wardrobe choices and not assault peoples sensibilities in ill fitting clothes, not all styles flatter all body types and all FASHION ‘WEAPONED’ AGAINST YOU MUST NOT PROSPER(there’s enough UGLY around please!) in this case brides!

    • Bukki December 3, 2012 at 11:21 PM

      Gorgeous

    • anonymous December 5, 2012 at 8:04 AM

I coudnt agree more with the comments from Comments… I’m a size 8 planning my wedding and i worry that my boobs will not fill the tube and if thats the case, i would not even attempt to wear a tube dress. What’s the point of saying this is the most important day of your life and you want everything to be perfect and the dress isnt perfect…

    • TruthTeller December 5, 2012 at 1:04 PM
