BN Red Carpet Fab: Nike Oshinowo “Fit, Forty and Fabulous” DVD Launch
Its the first BN Red Carpet Fab of 2010 and we are totally excited to be kicking off with this!
On Sunday 17th of January 2010, Ex-Beauty Queen Nike Oshinowo launched her fitness DVD “Fit, Forty and Fabulous”.
The event totally lived up to the billing.
It was held at uber-fab restaurant Medici in Victoria Island, Lagos.
It was an intimate, women’s only event which was graced by many fabulous Nigerian women of all ages.
The event kicked off with guests engaging in chitchat while enjoying cocktails and champagne.
Up next, the MC, Jason Nwoga charmed the guests with his witty anecdotes and then the DVD was officially reviewed by Dr. Doyin Abiola who still looks gorgeous and fit in her 60s – Definitely a great testament to the power of exercise and healthy living. Guests including Nollywood stars Genevieve Nnaji and Rita Dominic shared their fitness secrets and then a montage from the DVD was shown and received with applause.
Guests then tucked into the delicious Medici food.
Editors Note: The food was good!
Overall, it was a great event!
On the fashion front, guests ‘rocked’ an outstanding mix of international and Nigerian designers. Check out the full BN Red Carpet Fab from the event!
You can totally tell that this was her event! Nike Oshinowo looked amazing in her RM by Roland Mouret – Aspre Sheath Dress. The Autumn red colour of the dress is very complementary to her skintone and the cutaway detail at the hips creates a wonderful silhouette. We love this look!
We love Lisa Folawiyo‘s casual chic style! She always looks effortlessly fab, On this occasion, Lisa is rocking a piece from Jewel by Lisa’s diffusion line – J by Lisa. She paired the dress with braided strap wedges and classic black Hermès kelly bag.
Yellow is one of our fave colours! It evokes visions of sunshine and is such a bold pop of colour. We love this look, especially as its nicely accessorized with a layered gold necklace and bracelet.
With all the designer frocks spotted at the event, its great to see some “homegrown goodness”. Tinuke Akande rocks this one-of-a-kind skirt inspired by the traditional ‘wrapper’ perfectly. She paired it with a simple long sleeved white top and a layered bead necklace. We also love her hair!
Simple and stylish! Rita Dominic went for the classic black look with her belted black dress paired with black platform pumps.
Mo Abudu kept stuck to denim for her outfit and then accessorized with bursts of colour. A popping red belt and a bold green Hermès Birkin bag.
A cross-section of guests looking colourful and festive.
We might have to send Hauwa Mukan to “Ituen Basi rehab” in 2010! In 2009, she rocked red carpets in Ituen Basi and it seems she is maintaining the trend in ’10. All jokes aside, she looked great. We love the Anna Wintour-eque fringed bob.
Stella Okoli illustrates how you can be beautiful and stylish at any age. She looks lovely in her ensemble.
Wadami Amolegbe represents for Nigerian designers in this pretty maxi dress from up-and-coming design duo – Grey. We love the cut and colour of the dress.
Believe us, Genevieve Nnaji looked really stunning in her black jumpsuit. Her outfit accentuated her trim figure perfectly – the curly mane and colourful clutch seal this fab look!
The melange of menswear, casual and glam pieces really sets Ola Akande‘s look apart. The blazer paired with the white tank and denim accessorized with a glam clutch and shoes. Fab look!
Pink and black always creates a bold effect. Bolanle Austen-Peters rocks a draped pink dress with black skinny pants and black pumps. We love the neckline of the dress!
We are huge fans of designer Ere Dappa so its always great when we spot her pieces. Ebi Williams rocks a beaded ankara dress by Ere Dappa. The dress looks even more fab in person when you can admire the intricate beading. Love it.
Janet Nwose was dressed in a silk shift dress with a blue and cream water colour motif paired with nude platform pumps. Looking lovely.
A bold red dress paired with a solid black belt and gold heels. A simple style statement.
Actor Jason Nwoga was the only man invited to the event as he was the MC. Jason was dressed in a black suit paired with a blue shirt.
Lade Fadoju perfectly blends dressy with casual in a strapless black party dress paired with gladiator flats.
We love Tope Edu‘s Lanvin draping washed jersey dress. Its a luxurious yet casual dress. Totally love how the dress drapes naturally.
Tola Adegbite rocked a pink Butter by Nadia signature wrap dress with metallic heels. Love the way she wrapped the dress.
We know that Nkiru Anumudu was dressed for another more formal event (The Okoya Birthday party took place on the same day), however, we love how regal she looks in her traditional Nigerian attire – Afrifierce!
Dr. Doyin Abiola looked beautiful in her Tiffany Amber dress from the Rhapsody of Art & Fashion collection while Doyin dressed up her denim in a signature Renee Q ankara and jersey top.
Erelu Dosunmu was elegant in her signature white attire.
Omotola Ekeinde brought the spring feeling in her yellow maxi dress paired with a jacket and accessorized with a layered necklace.
We love Adeola Ajao‘s red dress adorned with black buttons all the way through.
Accessorized with showstopping black studded heels, Ruth Osime‘s black and blue dress was one of our faves.
Elohor Essien rocked a layered embellished blue dress with classic black pumps.
This beaded Hervé Léger bandage dress is sold out almost everywhere! We can see why – the brick hue, the asymmetrical neckline, the contrast beaded inserts – the dress is simply perfection. Reni Folawiyo pulls off this look excellently.
We totally love when African designer pieces are paired with casual pieces. Funke Fowler rocks this stunning Deola Sagoe top with denim and looks just fab!
That’s it from the red carpet! Check out some moments from the event:
