European lingerie & swimwear brand Etam opens its first Nigeria-based store in Lagos

The Nigerian retail sector is expanding and with the buying power of the Nigerian populace on the rise, the foreign fashion conglomerates are taking note and seeking to enter our potentially lucrative market. Mango has successfully operated in Nigeria for over a year and now European Lingerie brand, Etam is opening its first Nigerian store in Lagos. The store is situated at the Palms Mall in Lekki, Lagos. Etam recently made a big splash during Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week in January 2011.

The brand hosted a huge lingerie catwalk show which featured supermodels including Karolina Kurkova in saucy lingerie. Model/singer Karen Elson, Boy George, The Kills and Bett Ditto also hit the performed during the show while celebrities including Alexa Chung and and Natalia Vodianova attended. Let’s see if the brand causes a similar sensation in Lagos.

Here is the of official launch press release for Etam Nigeria;

Since 1916, Etam’s story has been written for women and her lingerie…
Max Lindemann opened his first hosiery shop in the heart of Berlin in Germany. The Etam brand was born…

We count days to Etam’s first store in Nigeria…

    take your line elsewhere. im tired of all these peeps tryna come into naija and make money off of us, yet they dont wanna use black models to relate to us. GET IT RIGHT.

    • Tiki April 28, 2011 at 9:16 am

      lol, The Amaka, be nice na! it’s obvious they just used old pictures..i wont be surprised if theey used black models for in-shop adverts…exhibit A, repeating a photo in a press release with 3 photos! cut ’em some slack.

  • THE AMAKA April 28, 2011 at 1:12 am

    well at least it will encourage more girls to be in shape and maintain their weight, but dont overdo it oooooo, we dont wan anorexia becoming the next problem in naija when many are suffering to eat.

    lol @ amaka. there is nothing anorexic about those models. they are just slim and are decently proportioned

    • THE AMAKA April 28, 2011 at 3:54 am

      i wasn’t talking about the models, i was just saying its good to encourage more naija women to get in shape, but not to overdo it.

    I’m glad it’s not Victoria’s Secret & their plain, overpriced underwear. But biko, can we get more pictures so that we can have a better feel of what the collection looks like?

    pls anyone who visits the shop at the Palms should give a feedback on their range and prices. It’s difficult getting quality and sexy swimwear in Lagos.
