Lagos State Government Reinstates the 788 Sacked Doctors

After several weeks of shut down in Lagos state hospitals, the Lagos State Government on Thursday suspended the sack of 788 doctors and recalled them back to work. The doctors were sacked earlier this month for allegedly participating in what it termed ‘illegal strike action’.

Hakeem Bello, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Lagos State governor, Babatunde Fashola disclosed the government’s decision today saying that the decision to recall the doctors followed several pleas from the national and state leaders of the Action Congress of Nigeria Party (ACN), traditional leaders in the state and other concerned leaders in the country.

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu who addressed reporters alongside State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola and Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Tunji Bello shortly after the discussion with the government, urged the doctors to return to work.

This news comes as a relief to residents of the state as quality and affordable health care can now be accessible by most of the populace. It’s good to hear that the differences between the Doctors and the State Government has been resolved.
