It got tacky for me when they mentioned the price of dress is $8000… seriously who cares? focus on the launch of the magazine. What do they do again? right – not much.

Hopefully it’s be a quality read not another show off for the rich and famous.

Ok. I wish her all the success… BUT. This magazine is supposed to capture the lifestyle of Northern Nigeria and Arabs. *stifles chuckle*. I guess some people fancy themselves more or less Arab. Hey! Just had to speak my mind. LOL

It will hit in 2013? So we are going back in time. I was like looking at Northern events, the women are a lot more dignified…..

Rarely do I find that Nigerian publications have anything to add to the ongoing social, economic, political or even “lifestyle” discussion. I hope they truly bring something different to the table.

My dear, I was wondering the exact same thing o. The dress isn’t for this occasion please.

      February 7, 2014 at 7:58 am

For you it may be a Quinceañera dress for the Arab world this is a perfectly normal evening gown. She is a Northener they are culturally linked to the Arab world. If you attend a middle eastern party/wedding/event you will see hundreds of what you refer to as Quinceañera dresses on display. Perfectly normal.

I just imagine if a new magazine was being launched here in the UK or in the States, we would get more details on the magazine and the publisher.
‘Maktoub Magazine, a Business & Lifestyle publication’. That’s all? Would it be different from all other vapid publications on magazine stands in Nigeria?
And the publisher? Who is she exactly? Whats inspired her? I guess the focus of the article is on her dress and the elite attendees. Oya, this is beautiful!!!!

For her to pull this quality of guests, not being an established media or business personality makes me wonder whose daughter, wife is she? This is Nigeria where nepotism is still very rife- just read the caption beneath some pictures here for example- so don’t blame me for asking. Never heard of her before. What’s her professional/business background? She looks great by the way.

Mosunmola looks gorg.. best dressed. Abuja/Nigerians Ladies please go outside the box with business ideas or find people with the real ideas and invest money in that instead of wasting money on another groundbreaking magazine. Please there are lots of social enterprises you can engage in and you clearly have access to capital. Many have great ideas that would also create positive social change to access to capital. These ones have but no new ideas. Nigeria is so big, lets start thinking Niche and Target Markets we can offer essential services, niche services and luxury services that might also create jobs or better lives. I can help but feel we are educated for nothing at times. #ColdWorld

May God bless you for this. Some people are looking for capital to start a tech company or manufacturing company or to go into agriculture, and here we have people putting money on magazine that will most likely not be different from the myriad of magazines lining the shelves. I guess she just needed a project to do.
