Princess & Ernest met at a baby shower where the groom-to-be was such a gentleman that he offered her his seat. After searching for Princess online and offline for a few years, the couple met again by chance after a concert, and this time Ernest didn’t let her go without getting her number.
Always the perfect gentleman, a night together at a hotel was the turning point from friendship to a beautiful relationship … a few years later they are about to walk down the aisle!
To capture this exciting time in their lives, the Liberian bride-to-be dressed in the IT colour this year – Princess in cobalt blue and Ernest in classic red for a LOVE-filled photo shoot by Daniel The Photographer.

How We Met
2008 was the year I first saw Ernest – with my ‘cousin’ at a baby shower in Pennsylvania. Ernest said “Hi” to me and offered me a seat because the place was so crowded. I said, “what a gentleman, thank you”, he smiled and walked away. Two years later I went to Charlotte, NC with one of my Spelman sisters to attend the Liberian Entertainment Awards. After the show there was an after party, where I ran into my cousin again. He said “oh my God you’re here? I’ve been trying to get in touch with you.” I said “what for?” He said one of his “cousins” has been asking about me and he is always on my HI5 page, that he even called some of your friends that you went to school with to ask about me. I laughed and asked “why?” He just said I should follow him, that the ‘he’ is here too. So we walked down the hall, and here comes Ernest.
My cousin said, “Meet my cousin Ernest, he’s been asking about you for the past two years now”. I said, “If he is your cousin then that makes him my cousin too” Ernest said, “oh no he is not my cousin he is just my best friend and we have been friends since elementary school, you know – it’s an African thing.” I laughed. The next day Ernest asked me to please have breakfast with him. We did, and we exchanged numbers and kept in touch when I returned to Atlanta.
A few days later a mutual friend of ours had passed away. Ernest called me in distress, and I was so heart broken and I said what could we do to help the family out. He came up with this brilliant idea to have a fundraiser for the family. I flew to Philadelphia for the fund raising event.
After the event I was too tired to drive to my mother’s house so I ended up in his hotel room. While in his room, Ernest said, “I really like you and I have been secretly wishing to meet you and now that I have met you I don’t want to mess this up cause I want this to be right”.
I said okay, let’s get to know each other and see where this is going to lead us. We slept in his room on the same bed without him attempting to kiss me or get the goodies. I was so impressed that I could not stop talking about this to my friends. He was such a gentleman! We talked for 3 months (The 90 day rule) after that it was all love.
After 4 years of our relationship, May 1, 2013, at 11:25 AM I got a call from my boyfriend while he was on his lunch break and it went like this:
Ernest: Hi Babe, how is work?
Me: Work is great, how’s lunch going?
Ernest: Ok, the usual, eating. Busy day?
Me: Not really….
Ernest: Going out for lunch?
Me: I don’t know yet…
Ernest: Ok then, talk to you later, love you
Me: Ok babe, love you too bye
Few minutes later, Ernest’s sister Nicole called and asked if I was at the office she wanted my keys and was coming over. Later I found out they wanted to be certain that I was where my boo wanted me to be.
10 minutes later, I saw him (THE LOVE OF MY LIFE) walk into my office with flowers – red roses. I was so surprised I said, “Ernest what are you doing here?!”, no reply. Next thing I saw him getting on one knee with his speech asking me “will you marry me” I said YES!!
