Enoch Adeboye Warns Pastors to Stop Taking Bribes from Politicians

Adeboye NEW BellaNaijaGeneral Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has warned pastors to desist from accepting bribes from politicians, or else “the fire of the Almighty” would consume them.

Adeboye made the statement via his Facebook page:

I Read in the newspaper this morning that one of the serving governors in Nigeria said that some Pastor(S) in Nigeria collected 6 Billion Naira from politicians for the purpose of influencing their members to vote a certain candidate in the coming Elections.

May I humbly request that if there be any Pastor(S) who collected such money they should please return such as quickly as possible before the fire of the almighty consumes you.

According to Punch, the above statement was made in response to allegations made by Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, who claimed that some pastors had collected bribes to campaign against APC presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari.

Here is what Amaechi reportedly said:

“Some pastors collected N6 billion and they are circulating document and telling you not to vote for an Hausa man; not to vote for a Muslim; that they want to Islamise Nigeria. Tell them to return our N6 billion.

They gave them N6 billion; they should return it to the Federal Government coffers. They will tell you that Buhari wants to Islamise Nigeria; tell them we are too educated.

I am a Catholic, but no Catholic priest has told me that story right now in the Catholic Church because I will ask him how. If any pastor tells you that, tell him to return the money.

Nobody can Islamise Nigeria; they have commercialized Jesus Christ. They should stop commercialising the Christian faith. You know what Jesus Christ did in the temple? He chased them away.”

nigerian pastors are just as corrupt, if not more corrupt than apc and pdp join together. nigerian pastors are part of nigeria’s problems. very corrupt and fraudulent set of human beings (nigerian pastors).

people that went to church last sunday, don’t lie, did you pastor at ur church tell u to vote for a particular person?

      Hello Maya,

Firstly, there is NO where in the bible that says any pastor is above receiving a suggestion, my comment was NOT written in an insulting manner but you chose to read it as such and that my friend is a personal preference for which I can’t help you.

Secondly, even the good Lord has created the earth beautifully and filled it with things of beauty, have you taken time to contemplate the simple elegance of a Calla lily? So if God loves beauty, why should the man who represents him not take time to put his appearance together? You may think a purple bow time against a white shirt goes well with a suit top that can’t decide if it’s full sleeve or half sleeve, I don’t find that these articles work together. There is no biblical law being broken in saying “Man of God, please represent your God and flock better by paying someone with an eye for style and color to put your outfit together.” WE CAN’T ALL BE GREAT AT EVERYTHING. OBVIOUSLY HE IS A GREAT PREACHER BUT HE HAS NO STYLE SENSE. IT AIN’T A CRIME. IT IS REDEEMABLE. And it isn’t about buying a Brooks Brother suit, a simple inexpensive suit matched well with a nice shirt and tie will do. Look at the top notch preachers from around the world, they look well put together…TD Jakes, Joel Osteen, Kenneth Copeland, Derek Prince, Creflo Dollar etc.

Third and lastly, I worship GOD not man. GOD is the only one above reproach. In the meantime, please contemplate the following biblical passages:

The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man listens to advice – Proverbs 12:15

Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety. Proverbs 11:14

Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future. Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand. Proverbs 19: 20-21

Keep hold of instruction; do not let go; guard her, for she is your life. Proverbs 4:13

Thanks for your concern over my soul..

Since BN Police wouldn’t put my full response to you, I will simply say this Thank you for your unsolicited advice. I worship God, not man and no man is above receiving a suggestion. There are many verses of the bible that speaks to receiving wise counsel. So ma, thank you but no thank you. Nobody can call a wrath on my head, I didn’t insult him, I simply suggested that he could do better in the dressing department.

Ngwa, BN police over to you.

The freedom of speech has made some people slightly loose in the tongue… I would advise you to be discreet while poking fun at people, your comment was careless.

He doesn’t have to throw his money around, what ever he paid for this terrible suit, he could have used the same money to buy a better one. End of story…and yes, back to the article indeed. Thank you for your input:)

    STAND AND BE COUNTED
Men of God are involving themselves in this year’s politics because it’s very crucial. The lives of Christians are under great threat. After this election let us not turn our eyes away from politics but become more politically aware. This is a wakeup call that along with focusing on your respective calling, we should stand and defend our faith and country. Vote JONATHAN for continuity.

Defend your faith? I do not get it. Is your faith under attack? If so, what faith is it you belong to? Definitely not Christianity – because I am one and do not see it under attack.
Pastors should ask their “flock” to do the right thing according to their conscience and beliefs. No names should be mentioned. That is the way to lead by example.

What I think would have been appropriate was to tell Gov. Amaechi to mention the Pastors. How sure are we that he was telling the truth?

BN police strikes again! I say it again. Very funny, the things you should delete you don’t but the things you should post like a respectful rebuttal, you don’t. You need to find and stick to a specific guideline as to what you will or will not post. The woman named Maya can call me out on something, I can’t retort? She must be paying you. MTCHEEEEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWW

You know that recording that was circulating about Christians voting for Jonathan and how he is there for an appointed time.. ra ra ra

The guy also said in the recording that he went for the national confab…
so i think it is his payment for the national confab that amechi is talking about

I am usually alarmed at the way the young utters speech brashly and rashly. Yet their parents are the ones going all over the place to pray. What’s your business with Pastor Adeboye’s suite. Better be careful. That’s how a woman despised a man of God for looking sweaty during a ministration. She had to go and pray after her act resulted in such painful sex like a woman in the labor ward, she then later apologized to the man of God. Young people who have Christian parents especially in their 20’s do all manner of things. If you observe human circumstances deeply( besides those who have been made orphans at a young age.). Serious problems in life don’t start until after a while. That is when you will go ask the same pastor to pray for you. A woman gave ‘God the glorify’ and walked. Someone else would have been put off by that poor grammatical expression. As per the person who said Pastor Adeboye preys on weak minds. People are not as weak as you think. You have no problem that’s why. You have never looked for children for years, you don’t have a incurable disease. like cancer, aids, autistic child etc., you are not extremely poor yet more hardworking that your friends and family that is why you are rolling your mouth. So those who go to the Redemption camp and have the circumstances of their lives change are weak abi. The last time, a professor whose system shut down asked Pastor Adeboye to pray for him. The man is still alive and had ice cream with his wife at a restaurant, something he wouldn’t have dared. As for those who have time to scrutinize the suite of a man whose name as appeared on Forbes, kudos to you. I rest my case. I pray you never experience shameful and embarrassing problems in life. My pretty cousin is getting married to a proper guy in April. She didn’t know when her sophisticated mum joined prayer lines and consulted genuine people.

I think people should turn their focus off their suit into their own lives especially if you are looking for work or trying to get into a nice school. Take your eyes off the suit and work something great out of your life. It is well.
