APC Condemns Oba Akiolu’s Anti-Igbo Comments

Oba of Lagos NEW

In the aftermath of public outrage expressed as a result of Oba of Lagos Rilwan Akiolu‘s death threats against Igbo leaders, APC has condemned the remarks.

The party took to its official Twitter page to state the following:

The Oba of Lagos had another psychotic episode during his meeting with members of the Igbo community living in Lagos. As a result of his mental breakdown, the king has been admitted to the mental hospital in Lagos. Everybody present at the meeting were very surprised by the words that came out of the crazy Oba of Lagos mouth. On one occasion, he promised to kill any member or members of the Igbo community who did not vote for his imposed APC candidate ( Ambode ) for the gubernatorial election. May the good lord let his candidate fall short of his goal of becoming the governor of Lagos. So that the king can take a swim in the lagoon himself amen

@Naija pikin. Stop using God’s name to curse an innocent man who had nothing to do with the Oba’s comments. Clearly you are no better than the Oba

whenever i say most monarchs are a waste, people always look at me funny and think I’m trying to be rude.. we’re here advocating democracy and this man is trying to force us to vote for someone ,People that were even trying this stunt for presidential election need to understand that it is a DEMOCRATIC COUNTRY! I can vote for whoever I please and for whatever reason!! democracy cannot flourish until people like this understand that they are only ceremonial and have no say, no say whatsoever in politics

You just got to give it APC,they are strategists and have ways of limiting a damage, that’s something PDP need to adopt.
Tinubu also addressed the issue. Kudos to them!
That been said people should look pass what the Oba said and vote Ambode if he is their preferred choice and don’t take it out on him because of some careless bad belle(no be say they even send the Oba sef). Some people can just kill someone’s career like that.

The damage has been done. The Oba’s careless utterance will cost APC a lot of votes.

The exact words condemning the act. Good. I expected Ambode to do the same but his own was just merry go round. Anyways, I have nothing against him. Didn’t know him till I started seeing his campaign pics. I’m sure he is a jolly good fellow. But I’ve got love for Jimi A. At the end of the day We Lagosians will vote for who we want to vote for. I will vote for Omo Oluabi Eko Jimi. You vote for whoever. Let our votes count and let the best man win.

I think apc’s condemnation is a bit belated. However, they have done the right thing. This Oba akiolu’s issue will go down as one of the most discussed burning issue for the year 2015. It is high time we lay it to rest lest we forget other issues that requires scrutiny. I refuse to get carried away.

Lagos has been developed than any other part of Nigeria before oil was ever discovered in Nigeria. Lagos has been on the verge of development right before colonialism, during colonialism and continued thus after it. Lagos has been a major trading and transportation hub to sub-Saharan Africa long before Nigeria gained independence. The peoples of Lagos and the south-west are known merchants and entrepreneurs. You should also not forget that the south west produced cocoa as cash crop for export, before, during and after Nigeria’s independence and all of this were still before Nigeria’s oil boom.

Thus, dear Isi, get your facts right. The propaganda we Lagosians allow the rest of you who are guests here in Lagos should remain what it is.

Economically speaking, the Yorubas in Lagos till today still contribute more to the economies of Lagos than any other present tribe ever will, both in the formal and informal sectors. A case study would be the LAGOS ISLAND TRADING HUB…. THE LARGEST INFORMAL TRADING HUB IN WEST AFRICA.

This I’ll implore you to get off your high horse cos the Yorubas are not lazy people. We’ve been capable, we are capable and we still will be capable in developing region after you’re all long gone.

Till then, I implore that we all coexist in peace as we’ve always done

I finally saw the poster that Jimi Agbaje sent to ‘non-indigines’ of Lagos which was only sent to Igbo communities (whatever that is). I’m surprised bloggers didn’t show it but they have milked this oba’s speech. Apparently APC has ordered landlords to increase the rents of non-indigenes? WHat does this even mean? How come hausa residents in Lagos didn’t fall for the theatrics? Will the rents of yorubas remain the same while the other ‘non-indigenes’ experience an increase in rent? They talked about iya oloja troubling igbo sellers, what tribe runs alaba and the rest? All I see is a party that will use division to desperately win a state they never had any interest in developing all along (even when they had federal power) and the end of that will be a terrible shock and abandonment of the so called non-indigenes that got them in. One party is saying a Lagos for all and the other is saying a Lagos for the few. Please voters, vote objectively. Weigh your options well and don’t be swayed by emotions. Emotions and English won’t lead to development
