whatever he chooses to trek for aint nobody’s business, afterall he didn’t commit any crime so please let him be please .omotola didn’t see other critical issues to address

Even if she addresses something else as you’ve put it this second you and your likes will still ask in the next second, what she’s ever done or addressed. Mbok Omotola’s works of philanthropy since the early 90s full internet. Too many to list here, but then again I’m not sure that’s of interest to you.you just wanna insult or attempt to score cheap points isn’t it?

This is the thing, though. His time is his to waste or fritter away as he pleases. A girl I know jumped out of a plane to raise awareness for the welfare of pets – no way in hell did I think it was a cause that deserved the risking of human life but what right would I have had to tell her to “do something better with her time?”.

Imagine if someone attacked our entire comnunity of BN commenters with the accusation that we should do something better with our online time. We would be pissed off at their effrontery. He’s trekking on his time and I don’t think we can dictate what cause he’s allowed to do this for.

Well said. While they trek, critics are busy getting tired on their behalf! Do you – life is short.

I completely agree with you Mz Socially Awkward. It’s his time to waste! Now I digress….

You see all those “jump out of a plane for charity/awareness” kind things ehn??….Na wash!!!

A colleague just sent out a broadcast mail today informing us that they’ll be playing 48 rounds of golf for one charity like that and asking for donations. My first thought was “my friend go and TREK!!!”
A few months ago, another colleague sent a photo a very large cake they were going to eat to raise awareness for something like that…can’t remember. The sacrifice was that they were going to ensure they FINISHED the cake and she went further to provide us with the number of calories in the cake and a picture of the cake that’ll have you drooling before you know it.
I just tire when I dey read the mail….like….no format them no dey give person for this UK sha. How can you be having fun and telling me it’s for charity? ahn ahn!!! I no sabi chop cake, play golf or as in this case you mentioned, jump from a plane?

      YES…the matter dey vex me…lol

Mz socially awkward you TOTALLY miss the point ! Your instance of girl and cat… Has the cat harmed anyone? Has it refused to deliver on its mandate to the girl? Has it refused to do its duties to satisfaction? Most of us are obviously not as intelligent as we lead people to think. If there’s anything this whole thing has exposed? As far as am concerned , it’s that We truly need divine help with our young people and their modes of thinking! It’s actually shocking! Omotola in my opinion should be celebrated for this. Not many people are Bold enough to say the truth.

    • Mz Socially Awkward...

      May 16, 2015 at 12:58 am

@AnonyMe,, have to admit I side-eyed the babe a little because it sounded in part like she was also ticking something off her bucket list. Same with those avid mountain climbers who send an email around the building asking for charitable contributions so they can go climb Kilimanjaro…

@MessedupPriorities, have I indeed missed the point? Yes, please lead me straight towards it. Especially since you’ve been so kind as to note where the cracks are starting to show in my intelligence. Very well spotted. Did this young man above have a right to vote for whomever he chose in the past elections? Was that a civil liberty to be enjoyed? Can he, then, prove upon that basis that he’s totally entitled to continue showing his support for the candidate who lost and can he do that on his own dime and expending his own time?

You people are getting so worked up about a man (maybe deluded, maybe not) who has decided for his own purposes to trek from one part of Nigeria to the other to congratulate somebody that you deem unworthy of this sacrifice but here’s the thing – this Dele boy is wasting HIS time and not ours. He hasn’t trekked on behalf of Nigerian youths; he hasn’t professed to be representing any other person’s interest apart from his unique one. Bloody campaign officers were causing more of a nuisance banging on door after door in the last UK Elections than this boy has done to any one’s real comfort or peace of mind.

Do you know what misplaced priorities are, sir/madam? That we’re having a heated discussion online about what the youths should be doing about the future of Nigeria and not out there where the remaining 90% of the real audience is. I’m even making agitated finger motions right now, that’s how ridiculous this virtual debate has been.

I haven’t missed a single point. I’ve seen his point and you’re clearly only focused on the one Mrs. Jalande-Ekeinde has raised. And now someone’s going to call me out for writing… let me count… 5 blinking paragraphs (i.e. An essay) on this one thing. Don’t make me type at midnight, I’m like a comment-box gremlin after 12am. And hungry… damn these unhealthy cravings.

    • FinchleysFinest

      May 16, 2015 at 10:58 am

@Mz Socially Awkward : You have a point, its the trekkers time, and you contradicted your self in some sort of messy way . What if some says we come online to waste our life away on bellanaija… ..What if the trekker replies back to Omotola that she’s wasting her time on twitter .

But HELL No! I disagree to the TREKKING. It should be banned! We need more opportunities for Nigerian youths to be productive other than this unrealistic, annoying and overly emphasised trekking. The first Man that trekked for Buhari’s victory did so well and he was thoutghtful enough to do it right after Buhari’s victory. Now its over few weeks and people have started looking for cheap publicity all in the name of trekking.

These guys and gals should spend time to be creative,The question is why haven’t we started trekking for minimum wage in Nigeria, why trek for GEJ?, what will that do for the economy of the nation? How many people will benefit from their trekking? Its not a COURSE that makes sense and hence Omotola as a successful young lady (Note: Omotola is made, she’s young, and MADE…read it again.) she got married at a young age, we all love her as an actress. She’s been involved in taking a walk or say trek for different awareness. She’s touched by the fact that THE Youth should open up their minds and heart to see what other youths are doing for their nation and not trek for any corrupt leader.

Why can’t these trekkers think globally and do something like, “Trek for the Nepal Earthquake Victims” to raise awareness and send them relief materials?

Please guys, be thoughtful when raising comments on the internet. This Trekking for any Nigerian Politicians SHOULD stop!

How many of these youths TREKKED for their FATHER !

      Abeggi… enough said.

      May 18, 2015 at 5:37 pm

DEARIE YOU GOT IT ALL RIGHT, GEJ MEANS PEACE OF TODAY, HAPPINESS THAT WE ENJOY TODAY, PATIENCE OF TODAY. DEARIE NIHI YOU ARE THERE ALREADY DONT LOOK BACK. THE DEVIL WE HAVE SEEN FOR PAST 4 YEARS IS BETTER THAN THE ANGEL WE ARE YET TO SEE.

Him trekking does not means his silly or jobless. He might be on annual leave or a business man. We should not be too judgmental. I wish I could join them to cut down some ‘silly bags ‘.

  4. Christian Sister

    May 15, 2015 at 2:43 pm

Biko whose husband is this? It’s shameful enough he’s trekking with women in pretty much questionable circumstances, then this useless response filled with so much grammatical errors. So crass! Don’t even get me started on the pregnant wife, & family he left behind, and he’s claiming happily married. Nigga you’re an irresponsible family man please!
Now it’s clear why you’re jobless. Silly indeed.

what is the problem with Nigerians and grammatical error sef……..language wey no be una papa language……little things like this is why Nigeria is not moving forward and so many people dont seem to know.people around the world always proud of there language and what is theirs ,but our own case no be so.

If Nigeria were to be a serious country shouldn’t we have looked into teaching in our local dialect.

      May 16, 2015 at 3:32 am

Aunty Christian sister ……… “many” not “much” grammatical errors. You sef dey gbagbaun

    • Sister KO!

      May 16, 2015 at 9:03 pm

The really funny thing about most people who call other people out on their grammatical errors is that THEY MAKE SO MANY THEMSELVES!!

Sister: the pregnant wife, & family he left behind, and he’s claiming happily married.

WRONG! The pregnant wife? That should read HIS, not the.
The comma after wife and before the & should not be there – neither should the comma after the behind be where it is.

Tishaaaaa! Look before you leap oo! I no be English but I just had to call you out.

I am not so sure as to your “REASON” for the trek anymore, whether it was born in search of fame, or for a true Democratic cause as you earlier claimed.. Oh well, guess he doesnt read BN so amma just chill and read other peoples ghen ghen comments..

Who is this jobless man acting brand new for (with the enormous gbagauns)? He left his pregnant wife to trek for a man who gives no damn about anybody and he thinks he’s not trekking his future away. He better enjoy this moment of attention because nothing for him after he gets to Otuoke.

Silly, petty, trekker, lol…who’s asking you about where you live or if you drive a good car, If you see replying Omotola as a waste, then you shouldn’t have replied her at all, it only shows what she said got to you(tongue out)

Choi! This is what my siblings and i called “casting”, when we were younger. She really did not have to insult them. She would have stated her point and moved on. She is a “celebrity” and some of these so-called silly people also bought her movies even when they had more important things to pay for. Trekking their future away? So if for example this trek puts him in the spotlight and he gets a huge job somewhere, has he trekked his future away? She is not God and shouldn’t have made such an unguarded comment. I did not support the trekkers by the way and I even criticised them but I have looked at it from another angle and I wish all of them success. Let all these trekkers get huge jobs and see if the whole Nigeria will not start trekking. lol

    • Gori

      May 15, 2015 at 10:41 pm

…and that’s a good legacy. Smh! The end justifies the means not so? Screw common sense and morals as long as you get money, fame etc… This is the new only.
…because they bought her CDs that entertained them…she shouldn’t speak? This is what the training these rulers have given y’all . We gave you light 1hr a day…worship us and shut up mentality. She’s an activist! Everyone knows that! Develop some brain. That was omotola the activist tweeting not omotola the actress!

    • Beeeee

      May 16, 2015 at 7:46 am

Develop some brain? If you want to abuse someone, do it correctly. Please, “develop some brain” is not correct English. And if you had the brain that you want me to “develop”, you would know how to read and comprehend. Omotola worshipper, so because she is an activist she knows every single problem that plagues Nigerian youth? Is she the only so called activist in Nigeria? Bottom line is that the man is not harming anybody by trekking. Stop forming like Nigeria is a paradise and that there are not a lot of people suffering. I stand by my words. Let one big company call this man and offer him a huge job and see if the trekking community will not increase to the thousands. Rubbish. Screw common sense and morals?!?! Oh ye holy one with the developed brain, how does this trek affect you????? Did any politician ask these people to trek? If someone told you that a successful trek from Abuja to Port Harcourt would guarantee you a position as the CEO of a top oil company for example, would it be morally wrong for your behind to start trekking? I don’t know about you but I will pull out my Trekkers. You think a hungry person cares about morals? HIS legs, HIS time, HIS life. I do not abuse people on this website but please don’t bring your bull around me. You could have made your point without insulting me. I don’t know you from Adam and you sure as heck do not know me. Enjoy your Saturday

    May 15, 2015 at 3:27 pm

Because a man trekked from Lagos to Abuja, now make some jobless people to copy. i will rather trek for GMB (winner) than GEJ (loser). My guy…by the time you reach Otueke, GEJ and family would have travelled out of the country and gov dickson may likely get you arrested.

  15. Californiabawlar

    May 15, 2015 at 3:55 pm

The first guy that trekked made sense…he had promised to do it as a dare before the elections….and then he did it….simple. How other people can hold their heads up high with this kind of yeye trek for blablabla is what is wrong with Nigeria….lack of integrity and ingenuity! Look at this guy even ‘making mouth’, you would have thought he came up with the idea! Omotola is right on this one…. Why not raise awareness for the uselessness of NEPA…better still trek for the fuel scarcity that plagues us ever so often, trek for the building of refineries….that in fact actually makes sense abi? Walk because there’s no fuel….
Any which way….you sir are a silly man….and to comfortably tell us you abandoned your pregnant wife at home very well corroborates that fact.

  18. mary

    May 15, 2015 at 4:29 pm

can this guy just concentrate on this trekking and achieve his aim than replying to every critics. Omotola did not mention your name in particular, she generalized it because you are not the only one trekking, but you have to reply to every critic to prove yourself right. the only trekker worth commending is the first person who took it up as a bait that if GMB won, he would trek from lagos to Abuja, he carried it out without much noise, he didn’t have to put up updates to make people believe him, he was well received, even by the president-elect. guy , ignore all these side attractions, get to Otueke and go back to your pregnant wife. lets hear word

someone is searching for attention.. omotola pls don’t reply the idiot.

if u ask the fool mention one positive impact gej had on his life when gej was in office the dunce will not be able to answer. assuming u where treeking to raise awareness on important issues I would have applauded ur efforts but u are trekking for a failure like gej.

by the way having a wife or a car or an apartment doesn’t mean ur life makes sense.

u are expecting baby number 2. for u to live ur pregnant wife all alone at home to trek for a failure like gej there is something seriously wrong with ur brain. useless man. bellanaija pls this should be the last time u should post anything about this goat who has been wearing the same boxers for days.

  22. Root

    May 15, 2015 at 5:33 pm

So when u trek and u reach Otueke, what will now happen? I will tell you. The world would have long moved on and people would have forgotten that a fool suffered himself for nothing. Omotola was only being nice to point out to you that you are trekking away your life. Others are not so nice, that’s why they all sit in the comfort of their homes urging you on to display your stupidity and having a good laugh @ you. You have a wife and two young babies @ home right? You are absolutely irresponsible. Tell me, what will be their lot if something bad happens to you on the lonely highway? Say, armed robbers kill you or you get knocked down by a vehicle, whose fault will that one be? You no get work, abi you dey leave? Trekking for GEJ my ass! Hope you will still be proud of yourself when the same man you are trekking for is indicted for monumental fraud and corruption. Yeye man.

The last time I checked the trekkers are adults, And their families are in support of the “silly” adventure they embarked on, so why are y’all so pained. even if their motives are not right in your thinking, it is their time and energy they are “wasting” away and not yours. All of you criticizing them, i hope you’ve used or are using your time and resources to impact the lives of others positively in your community. For those who said GEJ is a failure and as such is not worthy of any honour because he failed to live up to your expectations as a President, tell me if you have never failed at a task in your life before. and if you have failed before, don’t you think it would be appropriate to label yourself a failure also.

    • Bimbo

      May 15, 2015 at 10:38 pm

Everybody has failed at one thing or the other! The issue is when you fail at nearly everything. Haven’t you heard fed govt is borrowing to pay salaries? They can’t pay marketers? This is a president whose tenure saw oil at its highest ever! Obj saved in excess crude account despite oil not selling so high, Jonathan has depleted excess crude account. Imagine a president who could not save in the rainy season! Complete failure

  33. Anu

    May 16, 2015 at 9:32 am

I think what people are missing out on in Omotola’s statement is the generalization. She was not referring to a particular trekker but to the fad generally of trekking without a proper “cause”. People are here taking it personally. If you know you have a proper reason for your trek, you need not respond or you enlighten us on why you feel your reason is worth it, or not. We, however, cannot deny the bulk of trekkers are more or less doing it to curry favour of whatever sort.

  34. Longman

    May 16, 2015 at 12:24 pm

But seriously, this guy is really just silly. You leave a young child and and a pregnant woman at home and go trekking. Do all these copycats realise that the guy that trekked for GMB was just fulfilling a promise he made before the elections. And just cos the guy got some attentions, so many youths thought to get cheap publicity by trekking for stupid causes. It really does not matter who said this, all this other trekkers are just trekking their future away and it is indeed silly. Moreover, I don’t understand why the guy is so pained if he is not just an attention seeker trekking for his belle, Omotola was just expressing an opinion and she’s entitled to hers just as everyone else.

@FinchleysFinest…so how does the trekking affect us na? does it reduce the price of garri in d market? yes, its weird but they are not wasting “our” time. they can trek from here to the end of the world and back for all I care.
