Hey Ladies, Quick Question; Will You Be Wearing The Agbada Trend For Women?
This is by no means a style bashing post, I am only asking because I genuinely would like to know your thoughts on this ‘agbada trend’ for ladies. Many celebrities such as Kate Henshaw, Tiwa Savage and Juliet Ibrahim have endorsed the trend, just like socialites Toke Makinwa, Toyin Lawani, Mercy Aigbe Gentry and Annie Idibia have equally rocked it.
Left to me, I’ll beg us all to just let this ‘trend’ go. Because I am yet to see someone who has thoroughly done it justice, or maybe I can’t see beyond the fact that I cannot imagine a better way to make this work.
However, if I am forced at gunpoint to make a pick, I’ll definitely take Toke Makinwa’s interpretation over the rest. Reason being that her colour choice was quite tasteful and feminine, invariably reducing the masculinity that is natural to agbadas. She was also smart to pair the cream two piece with a chiffon collar long-sleeve blouse, a gold statement neckpiece and bangle, metallic pointy shoes and a sleek updo. The outfit had such a clean and feminine palette in comparison to the rest.
Then again I’m only a man with just a theoretical and second person knowledge of womenswear, reason why I’ll like to know if this is your thing or not, and why.
