“We are not running a prostitution cartel” – Emeka Ike’s Interview on Ibinabo Fiberesima’s Reign as AGN President & More is a Must Watch!

Emeka Ike

In this interview with TVC Entertainment, actor Emeka Ike does not mince words when he is talking about his takeover as the AGN President from Ibinabo Fiberesima. He talks about all the problems the AGN was having with her as President, the fact that her court case was not a good look for the organization and the poor management of the organization.

According to him, she was more interested in putting the wrong people in power like Segun Arinze, who Emeka Ike says does not even have a B.Sc and is not fit to be in power in AGN. Emeka Ike also talks about the fact that things were being done in the wrong way and with the wrong procedure.

He says a few people wanted to take the Actors Guild of Nigeria as their own.

According to him, Nollywood has always been making good movies like “Igodo” and “Violation”. He says, “with no disrespect to Kunle Afolayan” who reportedly used a 200 million Naira grant to make the movie October 1, you can give a dunce 200 million Naira and he will make a good movie.

He also talks about the best way to move the industry forward; the techniques, the structure of AGN, equipment’s and so much more.

At the end of the interview Emeka Ike talks about his personal life and how bloggers (he mentioned names) are aggravating the issue. He says that he almost brought a case against a TVC presenter because she brought down his name. He adds that he hates man-haters disguised as feminists but loves feminists who are true to the cause.

He also denies the wife-beating allegations saying that wife beaters are lesser men. To conclude, he urges women to be cautious about enjoying too much freedom. He urges that they should always remember that the have a home and that social media is just a mirage.

This man does not sound and act like a Leader! I have a strong feeling he is a very obnoxious human being, who will not work well with people ( more like a dictator), do as I say type of guy and vindictive too! He just does not have the calm of a leader and its quite sad! I don’t like to judge people but most times the only pointer you have to judge a man is his character, and this one right here is a hot mess!

Wow. I have to say that I am flabbergasted and overwhelmed by this presentation. Was he having a moment after taking crack and he videotaped himself? The sheer display of his perception of uncommon superiority….talking about Spielberg as if he qualifies to be a cleaner in the Spielberg studios……is just unbridled arrogance that is growth inhibiting. Even great kings have counselors recognizing that they do not know everything. If this was an attempt to speak highly of Nollywood, he seriously missed the mark. He does not present as a leader

      June 23, 2016 at 3:45 pm

lmao @ no disrespect to Kunle Afolayan yet ole boy violated the heck outta him with ‘even a dunce can make a good movie with 200milli’
C’mon man you sound so ignorant and totally retarded like seriously who voted this uncouth buffoonery as a leader? oh well Alaba groomed him and Iweka & Onitsha raised him smdh

    June 23, 2016 at 10:59 am

People appear smart before they open their mouth.

    • Iris

      June 23, 2016 at 1:47 pm

Lol you thought this guy was smart? I’m guessing you haven’t seen any of his movies. His mouth like ‘you can give a dunce 200 million’…from the summary of his interview alone you can tell he doesn’t understand diplomacy outside the kitchen table. What has having a Bachelor’s got to do with being a leader in an actor’s guild? If he wants to get technical sef he should have talked about Segun Arinze (who is a much better actor than this guy is) not having a BA.

  4. Berry

    June 23, 2016 at 11:22 am

A quick google search shows that Segun Arinze went to OAU and studied Dramatic Arts. I really really think this dude – Emeke Ike is battling some demons and needs help.

You can talk about the ex president and call people names but you don’t want to talk about your marriage ?

Bros abeg go and sit down. You don’t get to pick and choose .

    June 23, 2016 at 11:53 am

He is definitely a psycho , a retard who needs spiritual help
This is his last ever appearance as no movie director would feature him neither would actors and actresses ever work with such a problematic person, Dear Emeka Ike, how did you end up like this? what a pity. you used to be the toast of everyone male / female, you were a fine actor until your matrimonial problems surfaced ,. A man like you who could not maintain a beautiful home with beautiful children and wife is here blabbing shit about your professional colleagues, I really don’t know were you are heading but what I know is that you are alone in this silly game of yours.

  9. Heretostay

    June 23, 2016 at 11:53 am

    Dear Emeka,

When you wake up every morning, after thanking God for a new day; ask for wisdom as it would direct u and bring u favour with men, Your can make a point without throwing jabs at your colleagues ( both past and present). Remember that your reign is not forever and u wld still need this network to further ur career except u plan to do something different.

Kunle did very well with october 1st movie and it is appalling that u compare his work to that of a dunce if given the same grant of 200million. Do u knw the number of jobs created with such budgets….. Oh i forgot that u dont seem to take a cue from ur hollywood counterparts.

think before u speak as u constantly sound so foolish (ur past interview inclusive), and can be described an one whom is going to sink this ship of AGN in comparism to your predecessor who carried out her job with carriage. Her leadership was only marred by her court case.

    • Rike

      June 23, 2016 at 4:01 pm

This man need to ask God for knowledge and understanding. Instead of making Cinema movies he is here throwing Jabs at successful colleagues.

    June 23, 2016 at 11:53 am

In as much as he said somethings that should be kept within the walls of his bedroom, he still made some valid points.

    • Mo

      June 23, 2016 at 12:09 pm

Yes, he did make some good points but spoilt it with his negative comments about his colleagues.

Negative person with sad outlook about life…………probably why the wife left him

  12. Dee

    June 23, 2016 at 12:05 pm

He needs to learn how to carry himself like a leader. This kind of lousy, rude and openly critical attitude will only embitter and estrange the professional colleagues he’s supposed to be leading, and will end up causing divisions in AGN.

  13. Mia

    June 23, 2016 at 12:23 pm

He needs to watch the way he speaks, he was too loose-lipped in this interview and it’s not appropriate for a leader. The story of him and Ramsey Nouah is hilarious sha.

  14. betty

    June 23, 2016 at 1:03 pm

All the points he made regarding hollywood are valid. You either have something to hide to not see the validity of his points. Nigerians are so used to corruption in all sectors of life that normalcy sounds like delusion. It is not delusional to ask where all the funds syphoned on behalf of hollywood went. I know things are tough in Nigeria now but I like this new wave of accountability and transparency. Nigerians who have ever been corrupt want to eat their cake and have it. People like Fayoshe, Ben Murrey Bruce and family have something to account. You can’t be ghandi, mandela or fela in your message when your hands has been heavily soiled by your past dealings.

    • betty

      June 23, 2016 at 1:05 pm

      Nollywood” not hollywood. auto-correct.

  15. ibaf

    June 23, 2016 at 1:20 pm

For the record, Kunle Afolayan did not get 200 million grant from anybody. Emeka, sheer envy is pushing you to lie. Apart from banks, the production of October 1 movie, was supported by Elizade Motors and other corporate bodies. The truth is that Kunle Afolayan believes in excellence .,That’s why he the leader in the Nigerian movie industry today.

  16. Adaobi

    June 23, 2016 at 2:01 pm

Emeka never liked you for obvious reasons and the game is still on. You are not a good leader, its obvious cause you couldn’t even manage your home, I am sure this post was given to you out of ‘make we hear word syndrome’. No good luck for you.?

  17. Truth

    June 23, 2016 at 2:04 pm

Sentiments aside, I watched the video. He made some salient points and under the right conditions, if he can provide it, they just might have a shot at something good. Let’s try to separate people’s personal issues from their work and productivity please. We tend to do that a lot in this side of the hemisphere.

    • Nahhh...

      June 23, 2016 at 2:37 pm

Nah… it happens everywhere abeg. Or why do you think Bill Clinton almost lost his job as leader of the free world? Why did Tiger Woods get stripped of his golfing endorsements and status as a role model after his personal life took a nosedive? There are so many examples. If anything we are more forgiving of personal failures in this part of the world! When was the last time you saw an African leader suffer lasting negative consequences at work because of issues in their personal life?

  18. DAME

    June 23, 2016 at 2:16 pm

Mehn today was one day I am glad i didn’t judge the contents based on the comments
THIS WAS A VERY SOUND INTERVIEW HABA…He raised salient points back to back mehn.
but trust Nigerians to point everything down to being a “hater”
Maybe he didnt get some things right like calling Arinze unqualified since he has no or Hnd but hey that is like 0.05% of the entire content.
Oh well..i wish y’ll the best jere
    back to work

    • Nahhh...

      June 23, 2016 at 2:47 pm

Umm, who called him a ‘hater’ though? Cos I didn’t see that in any of the comments. The comments talked about the unnecessarily obnoxious things he said about others, but that doesn’t make him a ‘hater’, he might just be injudicious, loquacious, bad-tempered and/or tactless. The point for me is that he could still have made all the salient points you (rightly) mentioned, but without descending to publicly disparaging his ‘friends’ and colleagues.

    June 23, 2016 at 2:16 pm

Emeka Na thug now and he talks loosely.
    So I am not surprised

  21. Felinda

    June 23, 2016 at 2:41 pm

    crack is wack
I feel sorry for his Ex Wife and all she endured all these years with this Jack Ass
how he was famous as an actor in the past beats my mind
But then again – Nigerians love mediocrity – what else is new

  22. YesIsaidit

    June 23, 2016 at 2:55 pm

What is this AGN position sef that all these nonentities are always fighting for – Are they paying them a million dollars salary per year or something.

fighting for a useless position yet – nollywood even after 25 years is still crap saturated by crap movies and mediocre crap actors and actresses.

  23. YesIsaidit

    June 23, 2016 at 2:56 pm

emeka ike is still an asshole – i dont care for him nor the killer lady

Please if you have data, just watch this. This guy made a lot of good sense. Media people just like sensitisation sha with all this heading…

  28. Bimbo

    June 23, 2016 at 5:49 pm

Probably the worst actor Nollywood ever produced! His acting can make you break your TV set! Imagine the talentless hack talking about Kunle afolayan whose shoes he can’t clean? Arrogant prick!

  29. Mabel

    June 23, 2016 at 7:58 pm

He is rough around the edges, and seems egotistical, but many geniuses share these traits. I do hope he lives up to his braggadocio, because if he fails he will never be able to live it down.

To maintain my good spirits, I did not watch his interview.

  30. Emeka

    June 24, 2016 at 12:40 am

choiii. so nollywood inspired digital cameras? really? so why hasn’t Hollywood set up rentals offices in Lagos? and who said 35mm has been shot down? go and read about all the movies that are still being shot on 35mm. what arrogant person. Nollywood movies have never been good. they just destroyed the reputation of Nigerian movies of Ogunde and co.

  31. stoneman

    June 24, 2016 at 2:03 am

I can’t understand why this guy is being castigated! Absolutely everything he said makes sense. So what if he’s not too diplomatic in speech. This is this guys life and career and industry that he obviously is very passionate about. He is speaking the truth about the industry.

  32. Yinda

    June 24, 2016 at 5:58 am

There are some .elements of truth in what he is saying. However, it difficult for people to listen to what he has to say when he is too disrespectful to his colleagues. I think he should have expressed himself in orderly fashioned rather that sound uncouth. Overall, there are some valid truth in what he is saying.

  33. Yinda

    June 24, 2016 at 5:59 am

  34. Utchay

    June 24, 2016 at 2:12 pm

Emeka Ike made lot of sense.

  35. eve

    June 25, 2016 at 10:54 pm

Understandably, Emeka made some distasteful comments about his colleagues. but listening to the entire interview, he did make some very valid arguments and points. If DSTV being a south african company makes so much money from Nollywood, then they have to invest back into the industry. Also, they need to pay hefty taxes that will be used to develop Nigeria as a whole. That’s the norm in western countries.
