“We didn’t know things were this bad when we were campaigning” – APC National Chairman John Odigie-Oyegun

The National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), John Odigie-Oyegun has said that they never expected what they saw in government when they came on board.

PUNCH reports that Odigie-Oyegun said this on Friday at a reception held in his honour by the management and staff of the party’s national secretariat in Abuja to mark his 77th birthday.

“It has been tough times for the nation. When we were campaigning – it is necessary to continue to hammer on this point – we were not in government; we knew things were very bad but we did not know they were as bad as we eventually found them. And the revelations that come out every day continue to buttress that fact.

Secondly, and that is very important: nobody ever expected the prices of crude to collapse in the way they have done. One can only repeat what Mr. President (Muhammadu Buhari) said a few days ago and that is, from being a nation that could have an Excess Crude Account, today, because of the collapse of the prices of crude, a lot of the states in this country do not even have enough resources to meet their very basic functions and responsibilities to their citizens,” he said.

The APC chief added that president Buhari’s emergence “at this critical time” was the handiwork of God.

Buhari was a desperado. Unfortunately, there were bigger desperados to help make his dream come true. You wanted power, now you hv it. No excuses pls.

Enough of all this stupid excuses. Stop whinning and get to work. APC has the power now, it’s ridiculous to keep pointing fingers at the last administration.
The economy was in recession when Obama came into office but he rose above blaming Bush and did the best he can.

So you and your cohort of rainmakers were making false promises premised on made up accusations against the last admin? How else would you say that without APC life as we know it was going to be extinguished in Nigeria? John Oyegun! You are confessing to stealing votes using subversive means!!! I hope you sleep at night.

You didn’t know? Then what we’re u campaigning for? On what basis were those stupendous promises made? Is he saying if they had known they wouldn’t have campaigned? John and his APC must be very dull because as early as d latter part of 2014 crude prices were already being predicted to drop as low as it has now.

The truth is that all they wanted was to remove the Christian man from the ‘minority’ and so they planted all d demonic propaganda they could muster against him for daring to aspire to be in charge of their ‘birthright’ a second time. Foolish afonjas followed suit and here we are today. Just a bunch of hopeless liars!

this guy and all APC morons shud shut their trap. so they didn’t evaluate things befor thinking they could do an effective work? For crying out loud, It took Buhari failed elections before he finally succeeded, is he saying al these while he didn’t know how to approach Nigeria’s problem? All he is after is trying to nothernize Nigeria but it won’t work.

We seriously need a revival in this country but then our president wouldn’t think so but all i know is that the God that delivered us from Abacha will find a way to end this madness. If Buhari can come out to say Nigeria is poor, what hope does we the masses have?

He claimed there was no money, yet his kids graduated same time from UK. His wife Aisha traveled to USA with her own exclusive entourage consisiting of Northern governor’s wives.

Please stop complaining like kids and get the job done..imbeciles of the highest order…yeye dey really smell

IKR? I told peeps not to be swayed by the promises of radical change in three months and all that bull but no,they kept on mindlessly chanting ‘CHANGE’ and using their hard earned money to buy brooms, vandalising public property. Mr President then spent the next six months touring round the globe telling the world of how ‘fantasticaly currupt’ we were.
These people and their excuses make me want to bust out my cursing dictionary.

I reflected deeply in my hyper spiritual state on that change sing song. That had to be code word from their chief juju priest. I wish I knew demon language so that I could decode. Serious one chance. In fact, their native doctor deserves accolades – Ko easy to blind a nation spiritually and fool them to this extent.

Life is so dramatic…….sometimes the best way to respond to critics is to allow them walk in your shoes for a day….Before the elections, APC and her supporters had ALOT to say about EVERYTHING and its interesting to see how a year after victory, they have been unable to do anything.
1.Fashola stated that any serious government would solve power issues in 6months and nature with its sense of humour gave him the ministry’s portfolio, its been over 6 months and well the power issues haven’t been solved
    2. Amaechi and Fashola led the governors to take the FG under GEJ to court to challenge the Excess Crude Account so they could force them to share the money, they have won and suddenly complain so much about how the last government didn’t save. I laugh in Karma.
    3. Subsidy was removed in 2012 and the current APC founding fathers and supporters and “cashtivists” took to the streets, Buhari was on record saying there was nothing like subsidy. You can imagine my surprise at Buhari’s led FG complaining last year that subsidy payments were to0 high…..Huh? what subsidy?
    4. GEJ was corrupt but Nigeria’s economy was recording 7% growth, I mean we were the “N” in the MINT countries- the ones to watch closely after the BRIC countries. We rebased and became the biggest economy in Africa, NOI managed to keep inflation down throughout……. APC and her supporters said all these achievements were only on paper. Now we are in recession, why cant they also achieve these same feat “only on paper” as well? (“Oil prices are low” blah blah and 20 other excuses….Go check what the prices were during OBJ’s time)
    5. APC and her supporters said GEJ bought no weapons to fight Boko Haram, GEJ and Dasuki stole everything, It is instructive to know that APC announced a “technical defeat” over Boko Haram in December without purchasing any weapons. Its either one of 2 things: GEJ actually bought weapons or APC quietly stopped funding BH, aim had been acheived…… Meanwhile Hadiza Bala and Maryam Uwais have been handsomely rewarded, madam Oby Ezeks…how far?
    6. You all call GEJ corrupt today because he signed the FOI Act, NGOs could make FOI requests to ministries and get data, data they could interprete depending on how much Bourdillon was willing to pay…..SLS said 20 Billion was missing, its funny how a year after, the APC hasnt found the missing money. Maybe it was another phantom accusation that they knew the masses would buy, afterall Nigerians are an emotional bunch. 1+1 =2 0r 5 depending on who’s asking. BudgIT has sent several FOI requests recently that have been ignored by this administration. Opacity is back, The corruption you dont know about can’t kill you right?….
    7. Remember when APC said GEJ was sheilding Stella Oduah, Deizani and Abba Moro? I wonder what we can say about Buratai, Amaechi, Dambazzau, Kyari Abba et al
8.APC says be Patient with Buhari, do you expect him to do Magic, its only been a year and a few months……I say Bullsh*t, Remember when Y’all when to occupy in January 2012? how many months into GEJ’s adminsitration was it? People wrote off GEJ after the subsidy protests……what happened to Patience then….?
    9. Lets not talk about the illegal hires or should we….?
    10. lets not talk abot the much derided GEJ’s locomotive trains that have been launched with fanfare. or should we….?
I could go on with more examples but im sure you’ll all be bored…..

Anyway, APC stated on the eve of the elections that it would form a parallel government should they fail to win the elections, its quite clear that APC was indeed more prepared to be opposition than to actually take up the responsibility of governance. APC stated unequivocally that Nigeria was in a mess and would disintergrate if GEJ won. You don’t make such statements if you haven’t accessed the situation so its really BS turning around to say something different after winning, Mr Party Chairman, its either your party is full of decietful liars or you peple are simply unprepared for governance.

MY THEORY- APC was only a special purpose vehicle with one aim- REMOVE GEJ. With each passing day, it becomes clearer that APC had no plans no ideology, it was only a bunch of self centred politicians waiting for thier turn to have a go at the National Cake. It was never about the Masses, it was never about service, It was never about Love for country. It was never accountability.

Baby Geh sipping tea, Ii LOVE YOUR ANALYSIS. Make I respond to #5: Madam Oby Ezeks is experiencing firsthand what happens when you try to naively establish camaraderie with some northern cashtivists and they fool you into thinking you are a buddy and suddenly, the scales are wrenched from your eyes, and they get rewarded and you get sullied. #KnowYaFriendsWellWell

And there it is. At least one of them had the guts to come out and say it. Well it’s too late. You’re here now. Start fixing things you vowed to fix without knowing how you were planning to do so. As Nigerians we need to start asking the right questions – less of ‘what will you do?’ And more of ‘how will you do it?’

Am not regretting because I never voted for apc. Because I told my people during the last election that if this apc shld win people that vote him in will surely regret. My reason was that People surrounding mr Buhari they are criminal n lier. Lie muhamed, thiefnubu. Fashola we all see what’s they turn lagos to, poor are collapsing day by day. Life is getting had day by day while d rich ar getting rich due to stealing of revenue. Imagine a government form a sectors of tout called ‘team lagos’ paying a tout salary every month.

“people surrounding Buhari”? If an “angel” surrounds himself with demons, he will become one eventually. The president can choose who he has around him. For him to condone them means he is one of them.

For those of y’all who voted for APC or for any politician for that matter because they said A or B but did not prove to you the problem they wanted to solve and exactly how they were going to solve it, please take this holy spirit induced confession from John Oyegun and make a wallpaper for your cell phone. This is important so that the next time someone comes lying to you, the evidence of unprecedented deceit that has put a poop bag over our heads will be right there in your “very before” and you can rebut and rebuke and question and demand to be treated like an INTELLIGENT LIFEFORM.

I wish I could say thank God that the truth is out. Sadly, the truth affirms my belief that we are in for a very rough ride with this APC led government. GEJ was a fool to a lot of people but he was educated and appreciated the value of a schooled expert. Buhari is a dullardinho with no certificate and will never appreciate expert advise and for that we are in for it. May God save the federal republic of Nigeria from this insane dogs. Never forget the saying that only a bad workman quarrels with his tools.

yes you people are amateurs, and you used your area-boy swag to chase away jonathan, meanwhile u didn’t even know what you were talking about. thats nice that you admit it now. but lots of people are dying cuz u guys are clueless. so can we get some experts into decision making positions. i advise anyone over 60 years of age to retire from government right now. i also say that no presidential position should be paying more than 200k usd maximum per year. let all the experts come and volunteer their time out of patriotism, while having modest compensation. u go see how all these old cockroaches will scatter, wish they would scatter into their graves. enough is enough. no moo-moo old governor, or presido or senator from yesteryear should bother seeking prominent position in next presidential elections. if i have my way, all those mofos will be retired off. they can go an hustle for a living.
