    Love me some Toke though!! she has really done well for herself.. mhen, this fitness journey is loooggg!! I run at least 6.5km daily but no result, my diet sucks, I love bread too much,like I could eat the whole loaf. I wish I could cut off carbs completely…I probably should do a carbless challenge in November.. who’s with me?

      Don’t let your sexy 6.5km go to waste?
      Tips: just replace your fav carbs with healthier alternatives and keep reducing your portions to wean you off
      Rice with Brown rice/quinoa
      Try and remove bread. We all love bread but we’re better off. Switch from white to brown, then reduce your brown portions till nothing is left. Bread is LITERALLY empty calories and removing that alone will make such a huge difference
      Pasta with zucchini/brown pasta. Or go vegan, it’s lovely, clean and also helps with clearing out your skin. If cabbage flour is available where you live, try using that as an alternative for wheat flour in your bread (make your own bread) or pasta(you can also make your own pasta). OR you can wean yourself off carbs completely by doing the Cambridge diet for like 2 weeks to a month. Vegetables really fill you up and if you can get frozen vegetables (not the fried rice veggies, the leafy ones and the ones that include broccoli etc) you can make interesting stir fries to make eating veggies more “fun”. And of course, NO sweets or fizzy drinks, even the “diet” ones. Even if you’re skinny, you have no business drinking them.

      There’s also the ketosis diet where it’s mostly protein and fat with minimal carbs. Avoid carbs in the morning so you’ll crave them less as the day goes on. Try to not eat at all after 7/8. Chew on nuts or have berries when you’re hungry. Eating clean should be a thing of the mind, but I’ve learned not to judge people who find it harder than most, which is why I’m recommending the alternatives and diet plans to wean you off.       This is why diets that are restrictive fail in the long run because it’s so hard to not eat everything. The key to keeping off weight and maintaining it is to eat everything in proportion and exercise too. That way you never fall off a diet after some time and can be healthy all round. It’s the simple rule of garbage in and garbage out. Just know how much calories you will need for your age and size. I lose weight nad keep it off by doing just this. Losing weight is not difficult, people just go about it the wrong way. (P.S it does require discipline which I guess many people don’t have)

      Do you follow it strictly? I’m always skeptical about diet advice of replacing real meals to some unrealistic foods. Some are juicing, cutting real foods. If you are vegan or vegetarian good for you but if you are not it’s still good.
      I’m an advocate of eat in moderation because carbs, iron is needed in our body as well. Eating rice or bread won’t kill you. It’s all about balanced diet and portions. Pay close attention to times that you eat don’t eat rice as breakfast, lunch and dinner.
      I eat freely but there are certain things I don’t do at all like drink soda or do snack randomly. And whenever I eat heavy a whole day or week best believe I’m going running somewhere.
      And small walking here and there makes a lot of difference. After you eat that full plate of delicious jollof rice or Eba and egusi don’t sleep on it. Stretch and walk.

      I am with you o..just reading this is making me want to eat hot bread. My addiction to bread has no part 2. Once I see bread, my Fitfam life goes out the window.

      I cut carbs & sugar from my diet two months ago and I’ve dropped almost 10kg. 7kg so far and I’m working on the last 2-3kg

      This is after a long struggle spent where I was visiting the gym, working out and still not shedding the weight…. was enjoying the energy high but it wasn’t enough.

      Honestly, it got turned completely around when I started a new wellness journey with @gravitylifestyle & it helped me realise it was about a change of *lifestyle* and not just working out.

      Look her up on Facebook or Instagram; we focused on the food as well as HIIT and muscle-group workouts. I dropped a whole dress size in 12 weeks (something that’s been a battle for almost a year & I was just trying to go to a size 8) but other women have enjoyed more drastic results.

      & my workouts have slowed to a halt in the last couple of weeks (so deeply envious of your 6.4km runs) due to seriously hectic days lately… but I’m not gaining weight. Just losing it slower than before. Stay off the carbs/sugar, it’ll be an eye opening experience. ?

      I’d love to do a carbless challege but I’m scared I wont make it till one month. Could we start small like 1 week or do carbs for 1 meal a day only? My BB pin is D3DEFA97

    @Pinkie, bread oh bread, bread with cheese,bread with jam, bread as toast bread all over and finally garlic bread. My tummy just keeps increasing. I will start dieting and exercise tommorrow maybe……………

    Lol, Nah! I can’t trust a Nigerian that can go one year without rice. A good diet in my opinion should allow you to still have some of the things you love with portion control as the key factor. Oatmeal with eforiro is the new pounded yam in my house. Still struggling with the exercise part of things, next week will be better 🙂

    A good diet should not take any joy away from your life … i cant imagine going for a party and would ignore small chops, for what now ? I would be so cranky , no wonder most people on that ikoyi/lekki bridge dont smile at all , when they dont eat jollorrice and dodo… pls moderation and portion control is the key.

      Long walks , house work , staircase instead of elevators. dancing especially our tradiationl music..
      Please when it comes to fruits and vegetables ,shop and eat local!

      Minerals, chovolate and sweets, beer, wine in moderation. These are all calories. Eat dinner early. Don’t skip meals just eat small proportions. Works for me.

      @nnnenne, the truth is that there are calories in everything but some calories are a heck of a lot harder to shake.

      The calories in an apple (filled with natural sugar) will make its way out of your body faster than the calories in a bottle of coke (loaded with artificial sugars). Heck, even watermelons have calories & I eat a whole melon by myself practically every day after dinner, without retaining any extra kilos. If I was doing that with one meat pie (made of flour, potatoes and butter), as a snack after my meal… you’ll see the tighteness in my jeans after a week.

      The difference is between calories accompanied by dietary fibre (which things like nuts, watermelons and even the apple contain) & calories accompanied by high glucose (rice) or little nutritional contents (such as the meat pie).

      Google ways to increase the fibre content of your meals and load up on the protein, try it for a week at least and see how you feel. (P.S: I also eat mainly Nigerian dishes & have never tried brown rice… so there are ways and means of adapting our own indigenous foods to include the good calories ?).

    My problem is carbonated drinks, the addiction is not helping me at all. I have tried to do just Sans Cream Soda, my weight hasn’t budged.
    Please does anyone know of any fizzy drinks with low sugar and low calories?

      Try club soda or seltzer water, zero calories, zero sugar. Who are we kidding though, you know this, but you want your coke, fanta and sierra mist.

      add lime/lemon.
      or buy a bottle of concentrated lime/lemon something i forget what it’s called. it’s sour but sweet too and zingy. add a teeny bit to your water to give it that kick of excitement. actually just find any mixer that you like for your water. yogurt? milk? juice? garri lol (just not a lot of it)

      i haven’t watched the video, but just assuming toke is on a dieting/weightloss mission not a fitness mission?

    I run 10km at 3-6 days in a week, plus aerobics and strength training. I’m a size 10, not a size 6, and I don’t aim to be. I don’t do any crash diet, eat everything, moderately though, and I feel great!. The best thing is to get the best body you can get for yourself. We all must not be a size 6 or 8 or 10. Stay fit and stay healthy.

    Life is too short to cut all those food out of one’s life. Na wetin, what will someone eat?
    Please just control the amount of food you take and exercise if you can or substitute for walking long distance.

    Ehhhhhh, what is life without saki, brokoto , ofada sauce with rice garnished with dodo. Biko, life is too short not to enjoy. But all must be in moderation .

    Abegi! Am currently eating rice n beans, I know a friend who went on a diet including changing her water, the doc said who send u, will u tell a poor man to stop eating rice, eba and indomie, those kids she snapped with nko, with moderation we are healthy, who will die go die

    Wow! You’re so lucky with your sisters! They celebrate you and your success and actually relay fan messages back to you. Wish my sisters were that kind, loving and celebrating instead of the cold treatment, envy and malicious act they give. Painful to do things solo dolo and not get celebrated by family – the ones who are supposed to love you the most but oh well, I will continue to love and pray for them, because to my resolve, they know no better.

    Its true what she said about cutting things like Rice, Eba and Bread, just by cutting down on those (i mean i eat a very small portion of rice once a month), not eating aftet 6pm, daily exercises like skipping, jogging at my own pace and aerobic, i can feel the difference around my waist area. I also away from carbonated drink and i do mostly water. i love my owambes so i do indulge on occassions but the general discipline gives me the freedom to indulge when i attend parties, though not excessively.

    Life is short so i guess we can indulge once in a while but once the discipline is there, you wont relapse. I feel healthier and happy, this fitness journey isnt easy but it is worth it. better to live the remaining years of one’s life healthy and happy. My mom suffers from diabetes and my dad died from HBP so even though pple say those things are hereditery, we can also make better life choices from learning from the experiences of those close to us.
