Senator representing Bayelsa East constituency and Chairman of Silverbird Entertainment Group, Ben Murray-Bruce, in a Facebook post in the early hours of Saturday, compared U.S president-elect Donald Trump, to Nigeria’s former president Olusegun Obasanjo, saying Trump is a white and younger version of Obasanjo.

He said they are both brash and outspoken, and that they “always seem to come out on top”.

He also said that they both “have an insatiable taste for women and beautiful ones at that!” He added that a Trump presidency would be better for Africa than a Hillary presidency.

He said that the U.S needs Nigerians more than Nigerians need the U.S, adding that the U.S healthcare industry will “collapse overnight” without Nigerians.

“I am glad that Trump won and I cannot wait to see how he will change the world positively,” the business mogul proclaimed.

Like Trump Like Obasanjo

On the morning of Saturday the 20th of February, 2016, I was having breakfast at Eko Hotel with a friend of mine, Reno Omokri and one of the top Democratic Party strategists in the US and an argument ensued. Omokri said Trump would go all the way while the American said he was not going anywhere. I joined the conversation by saying that Trump is a phenomenon and no one knows how far he will go.

Today, I sit here writing this piece pleasantly stunned that what the mainstream media, what the establishment and what the powers that be said could never happen has happened due to this phenomenal man’s belief in himself when others did not believe in hm.

I have met Donald Trump one on one before and what I clearly remember about him is that he is a White and younger version of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

The two of them can be brash and outspoken but they always seem to come out on top by some sort of divine arrangement that makes whatever they do turn out for the best even if it began with controversy.

More similarities between the duo is that they both undeniably have an insatiable taste for women and beautiful ones at that!

Then again, they are both men who have succeeded in business and, even though they were political outsiders, they extended their business success to politics.

And even though there is a lot of anxiety in the Black world and especially Nigeria, I believe that a Trump Presidency would be better for Africa and Nigeria than a Hillary administration.

For one, Boko Haram are now afraid. Very afraid! This is a man that is not afraid to use the word radical Islamic terror and to declare to all who care to listen that he will be their nemesis.

Nigeria needs such a partner!

We are spending way too much of our resources on fighting terrorists. We need a big strong hand to help us fight them. A hand that will not be afraid to sell us weapons and will not make us grovel before it is willing to help us destroy our enemies who want to destroy us.

But secondly and very importantly, Nigeria is an oil producing nation and though I believe that it is what is between the ears of our people that will make this nation great, we still need foreign exchange and Hillary’s plans for alternative energy was not going to see the price of oil go up anytime soon.

But Trump won in Texas because the oil industry knows that they have a friend in him, and any friend of Texas big oil is a friend of Nigeria.

And forget about all that talk about immigration reform. Trump will not stop Nigerians from entering the US. The U.S needs Nigerians more than Nigerians need the U.S.

Without Nigerian healthcare professionals, the U.S health industry would collapse overnight. Neither Trump or Hillary wanted that.

Trump’s rhetoric was directed more at Mexican immigrants because of the immediate threat posed to the US by illegal immigration from Mexico.

Having said that, let me add that the last similarity between Trump and former President Obasanjo is that they both look not very intelligent, but their looks betray their vast knowledge and deep wisdom. You meet them and size them up by their looks and end up underestimating them.

But when they reach into their reptilian brain and come out with strategies it becomes too late to do what you should have done.

I am glad that Trump won and I cannot wait to see how he will change the world positively.

But one thing is clear, any politician who underestimates the role of social media in the battle to win the hearts and minds of the people is a politician that is going the way of the dinosaurs.

Social media and particularly Twitter was the weapon Trump used to fight the mainstream media. Social media is the ultimate form of democracy in that it gives the underdog a vehicle to amplify his or her voice against a biased media that wants to suppress it.

Trump didn’t promise to save the world, but America alone. He will help you fight boko haram? Really? Haha haha. Someone that is planning to withdraw US U.S. troops in the middle east.
Save yourself oh Nigeria . Trump doesn’t care about you one bit. He sees you as failures and wont budget anEast. Or military to you. Sorry Africa you’re on your own this time around.

This is quite embarrassing. The ignorance displayed from so called Nigerian government officials and supposedly smart ones who have decided to think their voices need to be heard on American election. If you choose to speak, please do your proper research, study the System very well. All that Ben Murray Bruce wrote there are bogus inaccurate statements and I can’t believe he felt confident to actually post that publicly. The main one that got me laughing is, U.S healthcare system will collapse overnight without Nigerians.

Nigerians, PLEASE STOP making fools of yourselves whether by your angry outbursts about Hillary Clinton’s loss or dogmatic senseless support for Trump.

Trump’s victory is not the end of the world neither was Hillary Clinton’s victory going to be the best anyway.
The comparison is even more stupid. Trump is a white supremacist, so I guess Obasanjo is a tribalist or what. And Trump’s current wife melania is not beautiful, if she looks like that with makeup, I can’t imagine how she looks without one. Let me stop here.

      ” And
Trump’s current wife melania is not
      beautiful,”

u are a typical idiot for this statement. who are u to say someone is not beautiful. melaina was a former beauty queen and model. I will not stand back and allow u to bully that woman. she didnt sign up to be a politician’s wife. she didnt sign up to be the first lady. she was thrown into this madness without her consent. everything is happening so fast for her. give her a break.

I can bet, u are a woman and u have the nerve to say another woman isn’t beautiful. shame on u. u have an ugly soul and god will punish u for this statement

      @bruno
Damn, I didn’t know you are Melania’s spokesperson. And you are a typical self hatred idiot and white people’s ass licker.
Where were you when whites bullied First Lady Michelle Obama that she’s not beautiful, she looks like a monkey and a man. She was dragged through the mud despite being beautiful, confident, classy and an attorney. I bet you didn’t fight this hard.

Haha! I laugh o! See Bruce praising Trump and being so optimistic about the relevance of his government on Nigeria. This is the same Trump that says Africa, save urselves. America save urselves. Bruce really thinks Trump wld fight Book haram? ? The only war I see Trump going for and in line with his administration’s foreign policy is that of ISIS.

“For one, Boko Haram are now afraid. Very afraid! This is a man that is not afraid to use the word radical Islamic terror and to declare to all who care to listen that he will be their nemesis.”
This man is ignorant and delusional if the thinks Trump – someone who is mostly against international intervention – will care about Nigeria’s terrorism issues.

“But Trump won in Texas because the oil industry knows that they have a friend in him, and any friend of Texas big oil is a friend of Nigeria.”
Another ignorant statement. Texas has been a Republican dominated state for more than 30 years. At least for the presidential elections.

“The U.S needs Nigerians more than Nigerians need the U.S.”
Ahhh yes. The grand delusion Africans have of their inflated sense of importance never ceases to amuse me.

“Social media and particularly Twitter was the weapon Trump used to fight the mainstream media.”
Oh lord no. Does this guy think the people who voted for Trump remotely care about social media? Almost every form of mainstream social media was anti-trump. Only Reddit and 4chan were even remotely 50-50.

For someone who always talks about common sense, this man doesn’t seem to have much of it.

For once I totally agree with Mr “I just want to make common sense “. I had thought he would be more inclined to Hillary who also is a common sense type of person. That in itself is not a bad thing, the problem here is that politics is a game of numbers and naturally should pander to the lowest common denominator, by that I mean the masses. They are not ruled by common sense, you pander to thier bases instincts, essentially the need for identity, security, food or stomach infrastructure (shout out to Fayose) and sex (it always sells).

The problem with Hillary is that she lacked chutzpah! People were indifferent to her, which for a politician was a cardinal sin, you stand the risk of being easily labelled (remember crooked Hilary?)

Finally the likes of Trump and Obasanjo always come on top because they have skunk. A trait which even the most ardent of feminists find attractive. The rise of feminism really is that men are not “man enough”. Most of them their wives feed and cloth them and the hassle of modern day life leave them libidoless and cant satisfy even one woman. On top of this short comings, they still have this sense of entitlement!

You didn’t write one thing that made sense. Your use of the word “chutzpah” was cute though

Ben Bruce. You are one hundred percent wrong. Comparing the President elect of the United States of America with the former Nigeria president Olusegun Obasanjo has showed that you, a Nigerian does not no and understand your Country’s history . Or you are only pretending not to know. Olusegun Obasanjo is a Thief and a bloody criminal. who during his rule as a Military leader in Nigeria, Lunched an agricultural program “Operation Feed the Nation” To start the program, his government seized hundred of acres of land for the program from poor farmers in Ota. Ogun State. when Obasanjo left office, both the land and the program became his personal property. In essence, “Operation Feed the Nation became Obasanjo Farm Nigeria” None of those poor farmers who lost their only valuable possession, their land. Never received any compensation. Either from the Federal government of Nigeria or from the commander in thief himself Olusegun Obasanjo. He and his family now enjoys the farm. Next time you open your mouth to say anything, make sure it’s the truth. word.

Mr.Bruce..please do not compare Trump with Obasanjo..He made his own money while Obasanjo is a benefactor of Stolen funds.

On the other things you said..well..You are in the house and are part of the establishment and a benefactor to stolen funds so you are a Hilary
