Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state has said that following the way the December 10 legislative rerun was conducted, 2019 elections will be a “tsunami,” PUNCH reports.

Wike made this known while addressing journalists on Thursday night.

“If you can have an invasion by the military, police, DSS and INEC for an ordinary legislative rerun election, then if you have presidential and governorship election, it will be a Tsunami.

There will be fighter jets; they will locate people’s houses and bomb them because that is the only thing remaining. That is why I said anybody who is thinking about 2019 is wasting his time.

28,000 policemen, three gunboats and others; even DPOs were transferred a day to the election. Some of the security agents had charms in their vehicles for the legislative rerun. They must bomb everybody who does not agree with them,” Wike said.

Wike, reacting to the audio clip where he was allegedly threatening to kill INEC officials during the rerun elections, said that it was sponsored by the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“When you look at certain things, you just laugh. At no time did I speak to any electoral officer, let alone issue threats to any electoral officer. There is nowhere I spoke to an electoral officer, threatening him or her as the case maybe.

It is totally not correct. The major issue is: did the police participate in rigging election? Did the army participate in rigging the election? Did INEC compromise?

Let them face the reality and stop chasing shadows. What is audio clip? What can’t this government do? I don’t have an orderly; I don’t have a chief security officer, I don’t have camp commandant. All were taken away before the election.

They have now arrested and detained the policemen, who accompanied me to the collation centre to stop him. Even Akin Fakorede (the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS Commander in the state), who was caught on video, has been released so that police can bungle it. What kind of country is this?” he said.

    What kind of country indeed!
Rivers State, the other South South and South East states seem so far from ‘Nigeria’ the way deafening silence attend serious issues from these regions. It is just amazing! The SS is purely good for laying golden eggs for the rest of the country.

In saner environments, what happened in Rivers State at this last election would have the citizens up in arms- with their voices, pens and keyboards condemning in the very strongest terms, the role the Minister of Transport and the federal govt apparatus played in undermining democracy. People don’t feel so comfy where you are feeling so far removed from the theater of war. Just walk down a little down the road of history and find out where the war that consumed the country in 1966 originally started from- it was political upheaval in the SW that started the chain of events, and then the whole country was consumed. At the end of the day, the South east became the epicenter even though the SW was the origin of the conflict. So, don’t feel so comfy in your enclaves, where oil money had flowed to ensure decent infrastructures for your living. Remember Soyinka…the man dies who in the face of tyranny becomes an ostrich.

Apparently most of us mouth ‘change’ with hypocrisy otherwise your voices of condemnation would have been strident at the use of state agencies to so harass a governor elected by the will of the people. Everything the Governor listed happened to him, to try and intimidate him. Shame on a country!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wike should just shataap there. He’s the one instigating violence in Rivers state, using his agbero boys and thugs to flood the streets. During Amaechi’s tenure, the rate of violence & crime was not this high. In fact, you never hear of human beings beheaded in Rivers state. Wike has come, hell has broken loose. Mshewww! Cry me an ocean.
