Evander Holyfield arrives Lagos for his Charity Boxing Bout with Bola Tinubu

Legendary five-time World Heavyweight Boxing Champion, Evander Holyfield, 54 has arrived Lagos for the “Rhumbles in Lagos’’ match between him and former Lagos State Governor, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, 65.

Holyfeild was received by Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode at Lagos House, Ikeja.

The match, which will hold on May 25, 2017 at the Eko Atlantic City, is part of activities marking the Golden Jubilee anniversary of the State.

The match is also another way Holyfield is giving back to the society through his foundation, and will be beamed live to the world.

The match will be refereed by Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka.

“This is exciting and historic moment for us coming at a time Lagos is celebrating the 50 years of its establishment and we want to say a big thank you to Holyfield for collaborating with us to put this as part of events marking the Golden Jubilee anniversary of Lagos State.

We believe strongly that in all sectors that we have tried to celebrate Lagos, this is one momentous topic that we really mean to celebrate. As a government, we have always wanted to use sports as a way of driving our economy and there is no way we can showcase sports as the catalyst for economic growth than bringing somebody who is a champion; a revered person and for him to use his God given talent and resources to promote sports in our State,” Governor Ambode said.

The charity fight is promoted by ACI Entertainment and Bishop Entertainment Consult based in Atlanta, Georgia.

Prof. Soyinka has joined bad gang! Pls, stop mingling with these politicians. I used to think you are incorruptible. You are going to officiate a match that men who have made a mess of this country will be in attendance – a lot of politicians will be there. And after the match, you’ll all go to a 5-star hotel to wine, dine and transact business.

Chinua Achebe would never have accepted to be part such nonsense if he were alive. I’m surprised they weren’t even afraid to ask you to officiate the match.

You don’t deserve to be answered but need to be educated. Do some research and you will find out that Prof. Wole and Tinubu had been in the struggle for a long time, probably before your birth. Yeye dey smell.

Yes he’s! His ancestors were from badagry Lagos. The first time he visited Lagos was when he learned about his root and ancestors back in 2010 I think!

It’s a charity fight so the idea is to use public figures to raise fund for the less privileged. Think.
