Togolese Activist releases Video of Yemi Alade endorsing the President | WATCH - BellaNaijaFarida Nabourema, a Togolese activist, recently called out singer Yemi Alade, saying she supports political oppression in Togo.

In an emotional interview with Sahara Reporters, the activist said she was very angry with the Nigerian singer, and would curse her if she runs into her on the street.

“They are embellishing the image of a brutal dictator just for a couple of thousands of dollars,” she said.

But when questioned, the singer’s manager Taiye Aliyu denied the claim, saying she performed in a festival in the country.

However, Nabourema, on her Twitter, has released the video of Yemi Alade singing in support of the Togolese president Faure Gnassingbé.

In what is a campaign video for the president, Yemi Alade sings and dances with the Togolese flag behind her, calling Faure Gnassingbé the One.

Technically she has done no wrong. she offered a service to develop a commercial. However, they paid for her branding (her face) and therefore endorsement. The issue becomes ethical. Do you create a video on say the benefits of genocide because you are just the Consultant? Yes, maybe? What if they are paying for your brand & not just tech expertise?

The Togolese activist has misplaced anger. Yemi is an artist and has a choice. Whatever choice she made to sing about the president let her live with it. Not every Togolese hates the president so why is this lady going off topic and attacking celebrities. Not every celebrity in the West is clean and perfect as she claims. Many support leaders who do wrong. Togolese people want their freedom focus on them cause u are now sounding like you have a personal issue for Yemi and using this to express.

Are you paying her any mind? Even Hitler had fans. Trump has supporters. She should free Yemi. If yemi sang or didn’t sing, he would still have retained his spot. Acting like Yemi is the author of all Togo’s problems. Wish I knew her social media handle.
