Okorocha installs sister as Commissioner for Happiness

Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha on Monday appointed 28 new commissioners in the state, Punch reports.

Among the 28 was his biological sister, Ogechi Ololo (nee Okorocha), who was sworn in as the Commissioner for Happiness and Couple’s Fulfillment.

Ololo had, according to Punch, previously served as Okorocha’s Deputy Chief of Staff and Special Adviser on Domestic Matters.

He also appointed 27 Transition Committee Chairmen for the 27 Local Government councils in the state.

Speaking at the event at the Imo International Convention Centre, Owerri, Okorocha said:

You are the privileged group that has the opportunity to make names for yourselves. I want to remind all of you that this appointment is not business as usual. We shall not tolerate any sharp practice or corruption of any type. Neither shall we accept indolence or laziness. You have been called to duty to help us to achieve our vision in the Rescue Mission Project.

At this moment, I charge you all to be good ambassadors of the Rescue Mission wherever you find yourselves. To the Transition Committee Chairmen, you must ensure that ongoing projects must be completed especially the schools, chapels etc.

Rochas Okorocha is a representation of the kind of people you get in Imo State. A state where every kindred wants to be autonomous community, and have an Igwe (with council) who is only after their stomach. The people are not left out in the greed as they try to out-do one another in the sycophancy and beggarlyness. Does it still surprise anyone that this Buffoon named Okorocha plans to install his son in-law as his successor, and of course Imo minions are already campaigning for him. Do we still wonder how the Roach got elected the second time?

What is wrong with that? Is she not qualified? Is she not from the state? What is all this noise about? If you don’t any good contribution, don’t contribute.

Benosky must be from Imo state. It is their money worshipping attitude that is making Okorocha to get more stupid every day: They don’t care about what is right, they just want to share in the money. That is why you see them scrambling to appoint Okorocha’s children represent them, so daddy will give them a share in the cake

No to APC, PDP, APGA, or any political party. Yes to individual candidates that are able to articulate their vision and ideas and provide practical solutions that will take our country forward. There are bad eggs in every political party let’s not make the mistake of strongly aligning ourselves in a way that blinds our objectivity.

    December 5, 2017 at 10:17 am

Okay, I know nothing about this guy other than he is a politician of some sort but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. The Commissioner for Happiness is not entirely stupid. He got the idea from some other countries that have had a minister for happiness-UAE, Bhutan, Venezuela. It’s supposed to be a social welfare kind of ministry but we know how everything goes down in Nigeria so this is a massive waste of time. Plus this isn’t nearly as stupid as Lucky Igbinedion’s “Office of the Father of the Governor”. That one gave me ulcer.

and it has to be his sister?

    • Loki

      December 5, 2017 at 11:20 am

@Nene- There’s no such thing as an honest politician. Right from the days of the Kennedys, government officials have always given their immediate family members political positions. Isnt America being run by Ivanka and her husband whathisface? When I say democracy is a false god people call me an anarchist. Well this is democracy for you. Nepotism reigns. Didn’t Buhari appoint his while village to political positions? We’re living in the Federal Republic of Daura now. Best get used to it.

I had no idea about this office of the Father of the governor. I laughed when I read your comment but there was real sadness in my heart about what we as Nigerians allow our “leaders” to get away with.
