In love with the “Shape of Jesus” ❤ – Watch this lovely Christian Parody of Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You”

Christian group Unworthy Heiress dropped this cover of Ed Sheeran‘s smash hit “Shape Of You“, taking a different angle by turning it into a worship song to God.

In their words;

Shape of You is an insanely catchy song with a sweet groove. But the line “I’m in love with your body” struck something… and we took it in a different direction. This version should be taken in a light-hearted spirit, although our faith in Jesus is very sincere. Pope Francis said “new evangelization means to reawaken the life of faith in the heart and mind of our contemporaries”. Hopefully, this is on point. While we are aware that this raw cut has some flaws, musically, we believe that there is beauty in the imperfections. After all, we are loved just as we are, even in our brokenness. Finally, if there are any music geeks like me out there, see if you can find the (really not-so) hidden melody (by Beethoven) from the hymn tune “Joyful, Joyful” overlaid on Sheeran’s riff at a few points throughout. 😉

    I love it! Didn’t really like the bridge sha. It could have been better. This is gonna be my new version. I won’t be feeling guilty anymore listening to this one.

    I wont lie I was skeptical before clicking play…just because I’m not into Children of God feeling the need to adapt for the world…or the notion of “new evangelism”. Most times it’s done wrong…where trying to be “cool Christians” overshadows the Word of God and in essence the spread of the Gospel. But I am happy this escaped that trap.

    The key thing here was not watering down the message and projecting the lyrics so all could read and find meaning.

    I enjoyed it.
