Technology is changing the way the we live and work and Africa is no exception to that revolution.
One of them is Sunkanmi Ola, the founder of Syracuse Digital, an African digital marketing and product development company based in Lagos, Nigeria.
After graduating from university in 2012, Sunkanmi founded Syracuse Digital and put together a team consisting of a programmer, a designer and a web developer after noticing a gap in digital marketing in Nigeria.
Digital marketing and social media marketing were unexplored in Nigeria at this time, and Sunkanmi and his team had devoted time studying the discipline through several courses online, so they were ready for the Nigerian market.
Him and his team gatecrashed pitches, pitting against the big players in the marketing space in the country. After three months of doing this, Syracuse Digital landed its first client, one of the leading telcos in the country and its success continued to soar.
It went on to manage accounts for various brands across 12 countries in Africa.
After running Syracuse Digital for over four years, Sunkanmi founded a platform – Hirefreehands – where individuals/business anywhere in the world can hire top freelance talent from Africa to deliver their digital tasks and projects – a win-win platform for everyone involved.
Sunkanmi earned a national nomination in the 2014 Anzisha Prize for Successful African Entrepreneurs Under 21.
Sunkanmi was named in Forbes’ 30 Under 30 list (Technology) for 2018. He is also the youngest ever candidate to be admitted into the global executive MBA programme of Hult International Business School.
