“I don’t give a f*** about protecting a serial child rapist” – John Legend on Appearance on #SurvivingRKelly Documentary

John Legend

The first of the six-part Lifetime series “Surviving R. Kelly” aired on Thursday, and John Legend is the only star to feature in the docu-series.

The network says 50 interviews will be included in the documentary where “survivors and people from R. Kelly’s inner circle, are coming forward with new allegations about his sexual, mental, and physical abuse.”

Producer Dream Hampton in an interview on Detroit Free Press said while making the series, they asked JAY-Z, Lady Gaga, Dave Chappelle, Celine Dion, Erykah Badu, Mary J. Blige, Lil Kim and Questlove to appear as they have been all critical of him in the past

Tweeting about his appearance in the series, John Legend said on Twitter:

We should all thank my friend @dreamhampton for her very necessary work to create #SurvivingRKelly. These survivors deserved to be lifted up and heard. I hope it gets them closer to some kind of justice.

To everyone telling me how courageous I am for appearing in the doc, it didn’t feel risky at all. I believe these women and don’t give a f*** about protecting a serial child rapist. Easy decision.

Also I’m happy to support the work of people like my friends at @ALongWalkHome who have been speaking out on behalf of the survivors for a long time.

This is the attitude of 2019. Enough of being politically correct, enough of being scared to tell and stand up for the truth. Enough of pacifying, protecting wicked and evil people. Enough of tolerating wrong things in the name of being likable by people.
If we speak out more to condemn evil things, evil won’t permeate at this high level neither will evil people hide their works any longer and be confident they won’t get caught. My question, how come the more tolerance society preaches and becomes, people are more depressed, unhappy than ever.
The issue is not about allowing evil and bad things to continue and be justified.

R kelly has had series upon series of allegations raised against and most recent is that which he was accused of dating Aaliyah. Although he denied the claim but i feel for every lie no matter how big, there is always an element of truth.

We just have to find the truth in all of this and i think the Series that just aired might be a good way to go about it.

Dating Aaliyah is not an allegation, neither is it recent. He met her at 12, helped her release an album ‘age ain’t nothing but a number at 14’ and married her at 15. She lied thAt she was 18. Numerous primary sources from 1994 prove he married her. You can even view the falsified certificate online
