VGMA Board bans Stonebwoy & Shatta Wale Indefinitely, strips Artists of 2019 Awards
The board of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards has banned Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale indefinitely, from participating in the nominations, selections, and performances in the VGMAs scheme.
This was disclosed on Tuesday in a statement by the board. The decision follows the brawl between team members of both artists on stage at the 2019 edition of the awards show, resulting in Stonebwoy pulling a gun.
Shatta Wale and his team were heading to the stage to join Stonebwoy who was receiving the 2019 Reggae and Dancehall Artiste of the Year award when trouble started.
The board also stripped both artists of all awards they won on the night and also annulled the Most Popular Song of the Year and the Artist of the Year categories for 2019.
