Fade Ogunro & Odunayo Eweniyi cover the June Issue of the Zebra Magazine
Fade Ogunro (Founder, BookingsAfrica) and Odunayo Eweniyi, (Co-Founder, Piggyvest), two female innovators passionate about the future of youths in Nigeria, are the cover stars for the June 2019 issue of The Zebra Magazine.
In this insightful cover story, the female founders who have created businesses that harness technology as a tool for addressing the pressing challenges of youths today, talk about the inspiration behind their platforms, the impact made in the lives of youths thus far and what they hope to achieve in the near future through their solutions.
Odunayo Eweniyi, who is using technology to build and improve the savings culture of youths whilst facilitating the achievement of financial freedom amongst youths, says “I recently read that there are now 13.4million unemployed youths in Nigeria, which means that unemployment has gone up by over 326% over the past 4 years and we have also seen that the average income for an entry-level employee is trending downwards… this means that financial freedom is now a step farther than it was before for young people. Now, more than ever, PiggyVest is important… we are improving the savings culture of youths to help them build their wealth outside of what the economy has to provide”.
Fade Ogunro, who is creating job opportunities for young creatives across Africa whilst fighting to place young African creatives on an equal level playing field with their international counterparts explained how her frustrations finding creative talents to meet the needs of corporate clients as an Executive producer, led her to start BookingsAfrica. “I was faced with frustrations finding talent for a shoot for one of my corporate clients. Stressed out by the whole situation, I took a nap and I woke up to the sound of an advert… ‘BookingsAfrica.com… your one-stop shop to source creative talent…’ I immediately ran to my laptop to check out this platform, but, the website did not exist… no one had heard or seen that advert, it was all in my head – I immediately knew that it was the seed to the solution of this problem, and just like that, ‘BookingsAfrica.com’ was born”.
The June issue of The Zebra magazine also features a special interview about youth empowerment in the FinTech space with Olusegun Adeniyi, the Head, African Fintech Foundry, as well as special Spotlight stories on Sir Dauda (Singer, Songwriter) and Timilehin Bello (CEO, Mediapanache) as the Young Creative and Young Entrepreneur for the issue.
