Problem Solver! Joseph Agunbiade of Univelcity is our #BellaNaijaMCM this Week

Our #BellaNaijaMCM this week is a man who’s devoted his life and expertise to creating solutions to societal challenges, using tech.

Joseph Agunbiade is the co-founder and technology lead at BudgIT, “a civic organization that applies technology to intersect citizen engagement with institutional improvement, to facilitate societal change.”

Before BudgIT, Joseph worked at an investment company where he headed Product Development and Management.

He’s also the founder of Getmobile Technologies Limited, an IT consulting and training firm.

He’s worked in several organisations and in several capacities, ranging from IT consulting and training, to project design and development, as well as research and development.

He’s the founder of SmartED, “a digital School offering a complete learning solution for primary school education in Nigeria and make learning inclusive, interactive and fun. “

SmartED creates well illustrated, animated and gamified content of the Nigerian school curriculum that is designed to make students learn faster with better understanding, while empowering teachers to deliver this innovation in classroom.

His latest project is Univelcity, which he founded in 2016 and currently acts as Chancellor.

Univelcity is a tech academy designed to accelerate the growth of tech talent in Africa by offering accelerated and immersive courses. It adopts social and project-based learning techniques, offering a practical edge in an ultra-modern, tech friendly learning environment that enhances student assimilation and retention.

He’s currently an adjunct faculty member at Mountain Top Univerisity, teaching entrepreneurship on product development and mobile application design and development.
