Oba Idowu Abiodun Oniru, the Oniru of Iruland has passed on, The Nation is reporting.

The 82-year-old king died today, although there has been no official confirmation from his children and palace officials.

According to Yoruba culture, the death of a monarch is not always announced until after traditional rites are performed.

Oba Oniru is the father of media personality Toolz Oniru-Demuren.
