Bringing the “Afrisonore” Experience to Life: Photos from the DMV Launch
Posted on Friday, July 30th, 2010 at 10:54 PMBy BellaNaija.com
So many of the events featured on BN take place in Lagos and sometimes Abuja, we thought it would be nice to check out what our people on ‘the other side’ were up to!
The latest addition to the African music entertainment landscape – Afrisonore launched its platform in dynamic fashion at Washington, DC’s exquisite K Street Lounge, and BellaNaija.com was on board to provide coverage for this highly anticipated launch.
Afrisonore.com is a multi functional website, profiling African music and connecting audiences worldwide. The site represents the vision of Harvard Graduate Ike Anyaoku, an entrepreneur who believes in the cultural potency of African music. Ike saw the need for a tool which can be utilized for not only promotional means by African artists, but also as a public forum and entertainment outlet for consumers.
Its launch party featured a red carpet with numerous chic and cosmopolitan Africans and African music enthusiasts alike, including Ghanaian R&B recording artist, Koby Maxwell, and Nollywood Director and Producer, Chima.
One of the coolest features of the night for us was the display of their mobile application, which they claim will take African music to new heights allowing their listener to discover new music, listen to their favorite artist and create playlists all at the click of the fingertips.
The launch looked fab and as always we are very proud and elated when we spot young African entrepreneurs developing new ventures. Afrisonore came on the scene with a bang. There are no doubts that this is one company gaining a lot of traction in the music entertainment world. We are looking forward to hearing more about this company in the very near future.

Kemberly looking great as always
Our Naija pipo fine o!
We’re not men hungry…Just appreciating God’s wonderfully made creatures
lots of hott men, and pretty girls.
So much for those in America who come to this website and say rubbish!!! They are mainly rocking weaves that are not well styled or even brushed and they look like two years ago compared with the girls in Nigeria that this web site features! girls in nigeria sorry babes in Nigeria rock better, hmmm bella please feature girls in a UK function i beg…….i reserve my comment till then when i will see what they will dress up like
lol @ mary007… ouch
Nneka Mbonu looks so fabulous in that dress . and she is so so so pretty … keep it up girl!
@Mary007
That is sooo true…Each time i read stuff like ‘Why can’t Nigerians rock their natural hair’, or ‘Why is she wearing weaves’ I begin to ask myself, in the real world ‘how many Black people REALLY rock their natural hair?
Human beigns! Chei ! Always criticizing, when in reality, they are not any better or even do worsts! LMAO!!
From the pictures, i can’t even see ONE PERSON rocking their natural (undiluted) hair! LOL
LMAO!
Hmmm…
Representing!
men-hungry? appreciating God’s creation isn’t that….naija dudes have got style and their swag is wow,the chicks rock too.
oge fierce…proudly Naija
omg!! i see kemberly and the girls from 4aces looking good as always!!
kemberly i miss ur blog + 4aces too
@ Truth: there is one girl there rocking her natural now, give some credit. But the one girl, with the very uncombed weave, biko nwanyi, is it by force that you wear a weave? My friend, use biosilk and a paddle brush and tame the bush. Razz individuals sha.
@KC
Yea, i saw that ONE girl and i ignored her ON PURPOSE cause she’s mixed! I’m talking about 100% African women rocking their natural hair…
@ Truth: Check the 12th picture from the bottom. The girl is African and rocking her natural. You can’t see her? You see why women wear weaves? How else will they be noticed? All people see are weaves and mixed girl’s hair.
@Angel: You really believe that?
@KC
You know, i’ve always wondered why women never wear their natural hair…All thanks to you, I now know that women wear weaves because people fail to notice women with natural hair, all they see are people with weaves and mixed girls hair. Thank you sooo muuch for enlightening us. You’re very much appreciated…Thumbs up!
Clearly the girls in the 3rd and 4th pics also have no weaves in….as well as girls in 11th, 14th, a chic in the 19th pic, 20th pic…I could go on!! as well as the chic who is clearly rocking her all-natural, no-relaxer hair!!! Please, please, please, “Truth” and “Mary007″, stop being bitter and ignorantly blind. Open your eyes! There is a good mix of both weaves and normal hair…unlike in naij were EVERYONE rocks five packs of weave on their head in the blazing 100 degree heat.
If you can’t appreciate (or show us wat u urself look like), then go and jump out a window. Thanks
I totally agree with Mary007, and its not just the weave thing. Even the way they put their clothes together and all, babes in Naija try pass all these ones, abeg!
Neka Mbonu and Nkem Odum looking hawt!
People take a chill pill,I have no hate bone in me note I said most are mainly rocking weaves! take note of the word MOST. I hail Nigerian babes in Nigeria they are fashion forward!
LOL. Some of you people are just pathetic. You see pics of 20 Nigerian girls in Yankee and come to the conclusion that all Naija Yankee babes can’t dress. WTF? I hate to break it to ya’ll,
but there Nigerian girls with poor fashion sense can be found in Naija, Jand and Yankee.
Likewise, Nigerian ladies with sensible taste can also be found in these places.
Some people are just dumb; making claims that don’t even make a lick of sense. GTFOH
Nneka Mbonu,killing us with that dress!
Gorgeous!
Joan Caven,love your dress too….
And why are women so critical of one another anyway abi? The men in these pictures received nothing but praise (and all of them are NOT all that) and the women are criticized, why now? Must there be shade thrown for Yankee babes, all the way from Naija? Allow them to shine o! I’m sure they are happy to be on Bella Naija. Biko, allow them their 15 minutes!
Thats the problem with women…always tearing each other down…that is why we will always be plenty steps behind men. Have you seen one man come up hear and badmouth another man. If we women don’t lift each other up, then who will? Naija women in yankee, naija women in jand, naija women in naija…are we not all Naija women? So why the hate? na wa! Only God will help us women…
Good looking people from a good nation …Nigeria we dey ……
thanks Bella naija good job pls go around and scoop out
our beloved people around the world, we love Bella naija
God bless this team.Amen.
lmao!!!!
on another note ‘afrisonore’ was supposed to be about african music…. why were the guests only african… predominantly igbo at that?
i bet the music they played was 100% nigerian as well…. call it naijasonore in that case now…
sorry, guests were only nigerian…. predominantly igbo. Nigerians need to be so close minded. There are many other africans in the DMV area….
Ada Agbim, you look mad HOT booboo(chick in braids-9th picture)!
U outshone every other chick effortlessly, Bisous ma cherie!
I’m in total agreement with LadyTee, KC, and GirlPower. I don’t understand how
one can make a general stereotypical statement about Nigerian women as a
whole in one region. A region as vast as the US at that… I know several 9ja girls in the states who are natural and several who are not. Same goes for fashion, some 9ja girls in the US
have good taste and some don’t. Just because one US event showcases girls
with weaves does not mean they all have weaves here. Come on now, we
should be united and not constantly hating.
