Tonii is Oluwatoni Afolayan. She was born and raised in the quiet town of Ilorin in Kwara State Nigeria where she also got her first degree in Microbiology from the University of Ilorin. She started singing at an early age and has since been trained by the renowned Peter King, the legendary jazz artist and saxophonist, under whose tutelage she honed her vocal and piano skills.

Last year, she signed up for the Nigerian Idol contest and rose through the ranks till she got dropped in the final – early this year. Peep her debut effort – I Rule and Iwo Ni Maa Ba Lo. Both songs were written and composed by Tonii.

      Hi Jibola/BN Team,

When are you going to write about the old generation musicians before they die off e.g. Fatai Dollar, Dr. Victor Olaiya, Sunny Ade, Obey etc. for the younger generation to appreciate their music.
