Posted on Friday, November 4th, 2011 at 3:19 PMBy BellaNaija.com
On Sunday 6th November 2011, a beautiful young woman will be crowned as Miss World 2011.
Africa is well represented at this year’s pageant with beauty queens from all around the continent participating in the pageant which is being hosted in London this year.
Some of our pre-pegeant favourites such as Miss World Ethiopia 2011 Melkam Michael Endale were unable to participate in the pageant due to visa issues. On the other hand, we are happy that the rest of the beauty queens including MBGN World 2011 Sylvia Nduka made it to London.
So far, the ladies are enjoying the Miss World experience with trips to Cambridge University, a grand charity gala and various pre-finale competitions on their agenda.
So far, Miss Zimbabwe seems to be the leading African contestant as they have been shortlisted for multiple awards including the Beauty with a Purpose award, the Beach Beauty award and the Top Model award. Miss Ghana, Miss Botswana, Miss Uganda and Miss South Africa who also represented her country at the 2011 Miss Universe pageant have also done well so far as they have also been shortlisted for awards during the pre-finale activities.
We’ll find out the winner on Sunday!
Check out photos and videos of all our queens below.

Miss Nigeria and Miss Botswana!! Miss Tanzania, what the heck kinda lace wig is that on your head? Girl, you should have invested in Brazilian hair like Miss Nigeria did.
Smh @ Brazilian hair. The only woman here that should wear Brazilian hair is Miss Brazil.
Errr and the only person that should call herself Lindsey Lohan IS Lindsey Lohan…What your point?
ahahahaha@ the comment about lindsay lohan! lmao
You make sense dye!! The only person that should wear Indian hair is Miss India!! Loves it..xxxxxx
A tad disappointed. These women cannot be Africa’s finest.
i completely agree with you….. i want to bliv that d camera editing had a problem… I dnt see anyone of them bringing bk the crown (but hu am i to judge?) *dis time nt 4 africa*
I love Miss South Africa smile……so sweet.
Miss namibia it is
MISS NAMIBIA ,,,,,,THATS THE WAY TO GO
why must ghana carry last?
No bias, but Miss Nigeria beats them all HANDS DOWN!. I’ve looked at them critically, d Naija gal wins from all angles. BTW, i don’t think the Africans stand a chance this year *again*
I totally agree jare.
er….Have you watched her video at all? I think Miss South Africa had the most interesting clip and if I had to vote, she’s got mine.
For me miss nig and bot…kinda like serria loane too but I think she looks too old for these girls…oh less I forget and I like miss egypt too
Abeg Miss Nigeria is the Hottest out of all the ladies…IMO, i like Miss SA smile ….but as wendy said why must Miss Ghana carry last
Miss nig..smdh! Chick ain’t articulate!.
And all these white chics representing africa.. abeggggggg! lol
Its miss namibia all the way!she’s hot.n den miss nigeria.all others are just unnecessary distractions
Miss Tanzania that hair is not nice, with a pretty face like that you can do better. However Miss Nigeria and Botswana are lovely.
http://yemibabasanya.wordpress.com/
its all thesame dee they are all classic.and what if she can,t affot another 1.
no hope for africa..sorry lol
miss ghana carried last..buhahahaha
miss nigeria..errmm who heard how she pronounced university..lool
r u joking?? did u hear the latinas accent?? wat about the indian girl?? becos she’s nigerian n african she has 2 sound english?? honestly zip it hun…
sa and zimbabwe…very articulate ladies…miss nigeria men….that english get comma oh……but she is fine…..but the weave is too fake…abeg tone it down a bit……
Miss Sierra Leone I support you 100%
Luv luv luv Nigeria’s bathing suit and Botswana’s gown. Tanzania’s gown is interesting.. but What is that on her head?!?!?! Miss Liberia’s interview was funny though…
Miss Norway is winning.
On second look, Cote D’Ivoire’s gown is also gorgeous… luv the hues. Ms Zimbabwe was in the top 20 swimsuit?? Just by the pic… its not a fav.. Liberia’s dress in the group photo is gorg!! Luv the Ituen Basi dress too!!
Hmmm! Miss Sierra Leone! Elewe uku!!!!
miss nigeria has them beat!
Go Miss Nigeria…go girl
Miss Sierra Leon!!!
wow im actually pissede thy chose those girls to represent Africa haba now?
miss Nigeria is beautiful
Naaa I refuse to believe Miss Nigeria was speaking English in that video. Good Lord. Can’t really say any of these girls are anything fantastic though, but Miss Zimbabwe probably has the highest chance.
never really noticed sylvia’s accent until now
I’d go for SA and Zimbabwe….they speak intelligently
may d best lady win!
Ms Nigeria sounds bush and wack! Horrible sounding English! None of them are hot except maybe Ms Mauritius
@party rider…i had to replay it again just to hear her pronounce “univaesity”….lol, my best is miss botswana, she’s articulate, has a nice body and a pretty face. As for miss nigeria….smh.
botswana and zimbabwe are beautiful. Nigeria try too
Miss Ghana does it for me.
NO HOPE FOR AFRICA
LMAO @ Comments about miss Nigeria. Lololll! To be honest when I saw her pics, I was yay!! Igbo babe repping us…fine girl. Then I played her clip! I covered my face in shame. Whats with the fake phonetics she tried in using to pronounce words?? Why didnt she just sound normal??
Miss sierra leone is a trip! Lmao @ she’s a rare diamond! I’ve seen fine babes from same country as she is…hiss!
question:can you see any of the caucasian contestant wearing afro/kinky weaves?
SMH!!
Some of the beauty queens dey lie about their age oh
Miss Liberia says she’s 24 but the information on the data says she’s 23. Same discrepancy in age with Miss Sierra Leone who says she’s 22 but her personal information says she’s 24. Mmmh now which one we wan believe.
Miss Naija, which kain accent be that abeg.
They’re all gorgeous girls but Miss Nigeria, Miss Botswana and Miss South Africa are my favs.
Just wondering why Ms. Nigeria weave is way longer than even the Onyibos…Na way! She’s pretty though but not watching the videos, rooting for our own though*
I can see SA and NGR as top 20. As for Miss TZ – why the hell would you let us down like that with your hair? Did they not give you enough notice to prep yourself …
nice nice nice! watsup with miss Tanzania’s lace front wig? so obvious and badly done. sylvia turned out well in looks even though she has a lot of polishing to do interms of speech and the way she sounds. she sounds so unrefined!
i however know that no of the african ladies are taking home the crown, non of them has that ‘wow’ effect
My picks from Africa are Uganda, Zimbabwe and South Africa but I think Uganda is the dark house of the pack really- Nigeria is actually the prettiest contestant from Africa but she has only an outside chance.
JESU CHRISTI!!!!! what in God’s name does this so called miss nigeria speaking?????
miss Nigeria n B otswana are the most beautiful…miss Ghanaaaaaaaaaaaaa hmmmmmmmmm
Ms.Universe contestants are better 100%. All their swimsuit are tad and ghetto-rish except the one wearing black. Nothing exciting about this contestants, its seems like a local contest. No some Angolan beauty and Botswana brains. Nigeria contestant is the finest full stop not watching the show though
Did i say Nigeria is the finest, eyaah didnt see well, i prefer Botswana, oh mehn dat country got beauties and brains. i hate Tanzania dress xcept its traditional but if its evening gown, it is F+btw she looks uncomfortable and nervous in the video. hope ms Botswana is among the top five. were is ms. Ethiopia nah? oh well ladies goodluck but bad selection to rep. Africa. All ms universe contestants dat rep Africa rocks. Angola made Africa proud.
This Naija babe’s igboticness is just too shameful. *smh* BTW, BEN BRUCE! how could you disgrace us like this????
What’s wrong with being igbotic?!?
well…………with beauty,i’ll say miss nigeria is on point but after watchin the videos, she has d most chreographed speech…..the other girls seem to talk from there heart
Miss liberia is simply divine!
are this peeps for real only miss nigeria is the finest bt lets hope she steps up in the intellectual aspect
I love miss namibia and sierra leon, they have a very fitted shape. Maybe we vote for them.
Can u imagine ð accent our so called ambassador has? Smh! Ð bruces family wld at least see wat bribery and corruption has brought to naija. And I hearthe bruces family have paid for her to win miss congeniality so we can all forget their scandal. Mschewwww
i love all this wives particularly Ivorian wife, you are very beautiful
letz let d girls b who eva emerges d winner i tink will b on merit. But truely speaking i prefer d miss universe contest.
I support sylva to d end……..make us proud dear
“Hello..my name is Slyvia NdukaR..I am from Nigeria.. I’m a student of Univeaity (or however her version is spelt!) of Lagos.I work on education for the NESS FORTUNATE who have no opportunity to go to school cos i believe education (the igbotic pronounciation) is a legacy (another igbotic version) and these children are the leaders of tomorrow.”
BEN BRUCE…MAKA WHY??? What have we done to deserve this, ehn kwa? I will be watching tomorrow, i’m sure i will have a very good laugh! Beauty without brains is a hot mess!
nutella… u are truly nuts…..
Babe…i just needed to ask Ben Bruce oh! lol
miss Tanzania’s lacefront has killed me #thatisall..
too much ratchedness here sorry..
I hardly make comments on this platform but this is important. There is something to say about an intelligent, knowledgeable, well-spoken woman. What is ‘beautiful’ or ‘interesting’ about a woman who is nothing but ‘face’-value? How does she contribute to the world by being a pretty-face yet an ‘air-head’? Physical beauty is a factor agreed [and we're all beautiful to be honest] – but weaves, make-up and fancy clothes aside for a moment; tell me, how does our lagging-behind continent move forward with a woman who has no clue about the challenges of her day [and/or cannot express/make use of them]? Those ladies who have already made IMPACT in their communities by the value-add of their brains/hardwork get my vote any day! I have always asked the REAL purpose of some of these beauty pageants. We can be at it all day – it’s too easy.
its all thesame dee they ar all classic.an what if she can,t affot another 1.so please ladies jus be pleasant wit ya words……
i am a gambian hopin we join da contest soon by gods grace.and if we do surely will win.
Miss Nigeria’s English is really bad, but she is gorgeous
miss zimbabwe is articulate maaaaaayyyyynnnn!
lmao..those are some thick women sha
I remember when Sylvia won and everyone was going on about how not fine she was and how Sophie Gemal should have won.
It’s ironic that Sylvia’s the prettiest of the African of the bunch here, lol. IMO she has better body proportions than Sophie and is better pageant material physically.
Too bad her English sucks, I guess.
miss Nigeria is really pretty but her English errrrmmmm……
all their heads are representing India
Ms Namibia needs to get that mole checked.
pls leave sylvia alone.wats wrong wt her accent anyways?.its mother tong pls n i luv her 4 it.go ms Nigeria!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Three ladies stood out for me based on their dreams n speech..
Sierra Leone, Uganda and Zimbabwe…..
I didnt think Miss Nigeria spoke in naij accent.. she sounds non-nigerian..
yep, ms sierra leone did her thing
nutella… u are truly nuts….. loool
Sad to say for a beauty pageant there is not one strikingly beautiful lady represented. Miss Nigeria and Miss Botswana could pass for sisters and seem to be the two most likely to go further in the pageant. Miss Liberia has a beautiful smile. Sad pickings on the heels of MS Angola’s win.
I will go for Miss Botswana. Is that a spider net on Miss Tanzania head. They couldn’t find a black girl to represent Namibia. Miss Nigeria tone it down with the weave.
Thank you Miss Angola for making us proud, that’s one GORGEOUS lady.
miss liberia is the prettiest.
she is just natural, beautiful and with a look very distinct
MISS TANZANIA , PLEASE COMB YOUR OWN HAIR AND YOU WILL ROCK WELL.
THE SAME APPLIES TO ALL AFRICANS ……..
pls let me know d station that’ll be showing it on DSTV….i beg una pls
miss NIGERIA ; wetin u dey speak sef? U B WARI GAL ABI??? Tanzania How u fi put dead rat wey resemble mat on ur head all in the name of lace front?…Sierra-leone u dey carry yam market for your thighs??? chaiiii….Miss MAURITIUS and MISS KENYA- Y’all are finneeeeeee!!!!! Miss Namibia: Biko, oyibo commot!! unless you wan pass as albino? Ethiopia, it’s a pity you couldn’t make it, you wudda shown them well well, next time don’t lie during the Visa interview !!
@Asa,you can’t detect anything wrong in the accent, not with the way you spelt ‘mother tong’ (mother-tongue).
You dey mind her? Mother tong my left foot!
Congrats to Ms. Zimbabwe and Ms. South Africa who made it to top 15 and Ms. South Africa who made it to the top 7.
the nigerian girl is undoubtedly the most beautiful……but sorry to say, she doesnt speak well at all and seems to offer little intellectually
i am so proud to be a sierra leonean.
Just watched Miss Nigeria’s Interview, she was apparently just nervous! Its a clear old case of nerves am sure she would have wanted them to retake it if possible!
miss Uganda is the only one that has the attention grabbing face that will make her go far. she has those eyes that miss universe has. besides she’s the only one with the most reasonable weave that you’ll almost think its her hair
i’m an ivoirian girl but I must say my sis is not on point at all at all !!! haba ! what kind of massive thighs is that ???? gosh !
she is nice, no doubt but her body is not appropriate for an international beauty competition . Miss nigeria is my favourite !!!!
@Nini God punish u wre eva u ar wats una problem wit local accent in ds country, mind u foreigners respect Nigerians more with not so perfect Phonetics after all WE are expected to speak our mother tong 1st b4 any oda. Fact remains IBO gals will always b 25 out of 30 contestants chek d history of MBGN frm 1983 till date so deal wit it FULLLLLLLLLLLLLLLs.
Swadu Natasha Beckley is Really The Best. A True African Beauty With No Artificial s Added She is Really a Bomb U go Girl! U Deserve it. Our Hearts Are out for you SALONE WOMAN
Last time I checked, russians, brazilians, venezuelans, americans and even british people ALL have an ACCENT! SO what if Miss Nigeria’s got one? That’s part of her identity and distinguishes her from other nationalities. All y’all going on and on about her accent need to get over it already!
I used to criticise people with accents (ibo, yorubas etc) but that was in my ignorance. I’ve now come to realise that EVERYONE in the world (including americans and british people we try so hard to copy) has an accent…in fact if you’ve ever lived abroad, you will find that most non-nigerians love the nigerian accent! We’re our own worst critics and harbingers of negativity and frankly speaking, I’m sick of it!
leg-ga-si…..na waoh!!!!
I read the comments before I even looked at the pictures or videos. all these nigerian bad belles sef. For me Our miss nigeria stood out. her speech was short and straight to the point and i loved that little giggle she gave at the end then miss south africa is pretty and really stood out as well. its just the both of them really that caught my attention. the rest are just bleh
Am all for miss Angola, and i agree hundred percent with Kathleen. our girl is good too…so whats up if she has an accent..here in America….U can distinguish everyone by his/her ascent..this is a no mans land..and all are proud of their origin…..
there is nothing to be ashamed of..her sponsors should work on it if they are worried.
Pls where did they get Miss Ghana and Miss Egypt from?? Those two need to just fall back. Eww.
I had to watch dat miss South Africa clip again n again, she speaks well, kudos… some countries disappoint me sha!…dat means miss Nigeria stands a chance, u go gal!
@ NaijaHotness, Miss Ghana co-won beauty with a purpose. Its beauty with brains.
most of ‘em are not fyn……not jelous just saying, but miss nigeria serzly, she fly n she fine well well. NIGERIAN GURLZ!!!!!, WE ROCK THE WORLD
legacy n my ibo accent…dats y una no even make top 30….mscheew
Miss Nigeria looks way older than 20.
can any of u guys go back in time and kinda remember ali and simbi? now look closely at miss ghana
this is one place I come if I want to have a gooooood laugh, if having accent is the only -ve point about our naija babe, then she’s good to go! I watched the show and one of the finalists had an interpreter, she could not even speak English yet she made it to the top. whats the standard for good accent by the way? am proud of you sylvia jare, you’ve achieved something for yourself (let these ones here remain spectators and critics). I also think Miss SA is cool as well….she spoke very well
I’m sorry but Namibia is not that fine. I dont think her haircut suits her. All she is is white, which is why some people are hailing her. I’m sure there are finer Namibian women, white or black. Guess she was in the right place at the right time…
na wah oh. i no day see Cameroon, Gabon, Morocco …. in this competition oh. waiti dey happen?
Sylver is d only gal dat cut my fancy
Miss. Liberia looks good. Thanks again Monica for putting us back into the Miss. World game
Miss Nigeria, Miss Botswana and Miss Ivory Coast look gud
wait? i mean where are the real women of Africa? common, we got better beauty and brains than these…huh!
I tink miss south africa is d best, haba miss 9ja ur igbo accent is so conc choi!
What happened to our real hair? The Nigerian queen with hair all the way to her butt really grosses me out. We need to start a hair revolution. Enough of all these fake ness. Peace
